Muschamp likes a big nose tackle and Geffrard certainly fits that bill.

He will clog the running lanes and that is his job mostly.

I thought Livingstone was more consistent and I don't value potential in a 5* player entering their 3rd season in the NIL era.

Wingo is good for drive killing drops and stumbles every time I watch him. Do I expect that to change next year? No, I do not. I'll be surprised if he gets better. I'll be less surprised if Livingstone does.

The entire WR room seems to be mediocre to suck. You can take all of this with a shovel of salt. No one calls me for hot takes on WR's.

I'm excited to watch next season in part to see if my own opinion is worth a damn.

Livingstone had the highest drop rate.

Given that Livingstone elected to give a hatchet job interview on the way to becoming a OU, I think we can all just close the book on him being a cool guy.

Livingstone said it was a dream to play for Texas....longhorn for life etc.
But no Longhorn I know would ever want to flip sides of the red river.

Did the kicker not miss another kick after the first few games or something or are we just actually signing a 75% field goal kicker?

Good from short, good from long, the 40s are an adventure

I'm more surprised to see Jackson extended. Our WR corp in general seems to drop passes on the regular. I watch lesser teams seemingly field more consistent WRs in almost every other game I watch.

Everyone hates our guys because they actually watch and scrutinize every play because we’re fanatics. Other teams have drops all the same but they don’t show that on espn when you’re catching up at night. Cam Coleman has more drops and fumbles than wingo and is slower. Everyone wants that guy tho. Is what it is

Coleman can actually separate from his DB and catch a deep ball. Different skill set.

I think we should convert Wingo to safety. Just kidding…or am I? Tech converting QB Rodriguez to defense was a gamble but damn did that pay off? Or did it bc they could have used an actual QB during the Oregon fiasco.

Yeah, I searched "Ian Geffrard highlights" on YT and got jackshit except UT 995'ers gushing about what a great addition he'll be to Muschamp's defense. At least he'll be a space-eater to free up the LBs.

Shipley was 15-19 at Texas State before we brought him in, 20-24 this year.

Comparing the two in the year before playing at Texas

Shipley: 15-19, 2 misses in the 30-39 range, 1 miss 40-49, 1 miss 50+ (2 makes, long 60)

Spetic: 15-20, 1 miss 30-39, 3 misses 40-49 (all hooked left, so maybe they think they can fix a mechanical issue?), 1 miss 50+ (4 makes, long 55)

Did Cole Brevard have a highlight reel last year before he was useful addition?

If playing Edward 40 hands was the game I would have been on scholarship

I forget who posted it but quite a bit our offense personnel looked like for the bulk of the season like they just met right before the game and received different playbooks and hated being there.

How many portal O-Lineman do we need? 4? I hope we’re ready to spend money on top guys and not say “that guy is too much to spend on one guy”, then end up with bottom feeders. We have too many holes to fill where we end up with top end talent knowing that talent is gonna cost us millions at each position.

At 388 you can indeed clog the line a bit. At 360 you can clog, toss rag dolls, and destroy opposing OL psyches.

Something to think about at breakfast this morning....

I saw Arkansas fans saying he sucks and we should watch the end of the Memphis game. I had it DVR’d on YT TV and after watching the last few drives of the game, I think we need to temper expectations. But the raw material is there.

The good: He’s a massive guy at a position of need who has enough snaps under his belt to know what he’s getting into. Also saw him giving good effort for how late it was in the game.

The bad: He doesn’t have very good technique, doesn’t use his hands well, doesn’t get much drive from his legs and seems to lack the lower body strength you’d expect. The Memphis backup QB had a play where Geffrard met him in the hole, but the QB drove him back about 8 yards for a first down. Maybe he just needs better S&C and a coach who can clean up his technique.

Yes, we need a ton of quality portal help and we can’t just add a couple then call it quits. Arch can’t do it by himself

Texas just got a commit from this guy, known as very good blocker, more than as a receiver.

A backup QB driving back a 6 '5", 380 lb. NG is never a good sign.

Fortunately, I only expect him to eat up blockers. FWIW, he was the 4th highest rated DL in the portal. Hopefully, not literally.

We just need to remember we dont only need 5* and 4* guys in the portal. I think getting guys with a lot of experience and maturity is the most important thing.

For portal guys I don’t care about stars- they have college game tape now. This is where coaches should be able to evaluate talent

I've watched that play multiple times, and it is inaccurate IMO to say that Geffrard "met him in the hole" and then got "dr[iven] back about 8 yards." Geffrard was actually engaged by a blocker, worked off the blocker, and then grabbed the Memphis QB from the side as the QB ran upfield. It was at that point that the Memphis QB continued dragging Geffrard, who used horrendous technique and may have also been trying to avoid tackling the Memphis QB forward past the line to gain and a clinching first down. (I couldn't tell from the video whether Geffrard was also trying to punch the ball out with his right arm. The video short is linked below.)

Geffrard certainly didn't cover himself with glory on the play -- quite the opposite. My only point is that he did not "meet the Memphis QB in the hole" and get "driven back."

Based on what I've read and seen, my guess is that unless Geffrard substantially improves both his stamina and technique between now and next fall, he'll be a spot player in a role similar to what Shaw and Brevard had this past season.

Livingstone was clearly average to below average, but after digging on Moore (I always liked before I saw the numbers) in 2024 he only had 3 dropped passes on 39 catches, 456, 7 TD's.

2025 he also only had 3 confirmed dropped passes, with 38 catches, 532 receiving yards and 4 TD's.

Overall he has 77 catches, 988 receiving and 11 TD's, and 6 drops in two seasons as a starter.

Now Livingstone was below average because we don't like him anymore. Keep in mind as a freshman he had 516 yards and 6 TDs on only 29 targets. He had drops for sure but he wasn't chopped liver. We are going to get somebody out of the portal older than him with his exact stats and talk about it being a solid pickup. I hate the portal sometimes. Ughh. Also, when all of your receivers are dropping the ball you might wanna look at why. Targeting a little off? Ball being rifled at short distances? We need to catch the ball but we also need the ball to be more catchable.

Do you mean only 29 catches, not targets? I believe he had 60 targets or so.
