Time for another ‘my dog is awesome’ thread

We said good bye to our 14 year 11 month old border collie mutt about 2 AM Sunday morning. He’d soldiered on through years of arthritis and went deaf a year and a half ago, but remained the happiest sweetest dog right up until late Saturday afternoon after he had his lunch. We kept thinking it would pass, but he wouldn’t eat anything at dinner, and we knew it was time. By 2 AM he was gone. It was liver cancer

He was such a great dog, and I am going to spend a long time getting over this. We lost his brother 7 years ago and that was hard too, but jeez, this sucks. Chip was the best.

I had lasik from Dr Mitchel Wong, his son Shannon is an eye doctor as well, and I hired Patrick for some pictures. I know I'm old and forget a lot of shit but I'm pretty sure I'm right.

Patrick is listed as his son here:
https://www.austineye.com/doctors/mitchel-wong-md/

I hired him and went to his office which was below his dad's office on 40th over near the Red River HEB.
I mentioned my eye doctor was up stairs, and he said yeah, my dad gives me a good deal on rent here.
Up to that point I thought his last name was Atelier, but that's when I found out his last name was Wong.

Our 8 year old golden retriever, Colt, woke up Sat morning completely fine, and by late afternoon was completely blind.  So far we have been to our normal vet, and an eye specialist, and back to the eye specialist tomorrow and MRI next week.  I'm not sure what best case scenario is for all of this, but it obviously sucks.

We are saying goodbye to Jack after 12 years of love, loyalty, occasional fits of rage for chewing shoelaces, and many, many, fond memories.

Liver and kidney failure. We’ve been trying to keep him happy and comfortable but he has stopped eating and is just shutting down.
