I agree with this. We have to run the play, because goddamit, it's the right thing to do. You remember To Kill a Mockingbird. Atticus Finch tried one HELL of a case. He was right. Tom Robinson was innocent. He deserved acquittal, and justice. But Atticus knew -- like we know now -- that the jury would never do justice. He knew the whole time. He knew from opening statement to closing argument. He knew that the facts and evidence didn't matter. The jury was going to do what it was going to do. The reader knows that it's a great wrong. The reader wants Atticus to win, but knows all along that he surely won't. Atticus offered some wisdom that fits the current circumstances: We the People are going to take the L on this one.....because the party in power has something between them and reason (power, greed, venality). And they couldn't be fair if they tried. We aren't going to win. But we're going to write the book. Because maybe someday, there will be people who read it and are as disgusted by wrongdoing as they should be. And shit, write the book for no other reason than that it's more wrong than to just go along and allow an unjust result without even putting up a fight.22 points

Everyone who whines about a commit's thread getting bumped is a gigantic pussy. They either decommitted or didn't. They either got injured or didn't. Every recruit who commits gets his own thread. Why should good updates have to go on some combined non-specific thread just because y'all claim to actually have an emotional reaction? That's dumb. Our commits should have the awesome shit they do posted on their personal thread of badassery.20 points

Just to clarify...was it a great read for you because he said that Ohio State wasn't dead and he still communicated with them, or was it because he said he might take an official to LSU? Or was it because he hesitated and paused while trying to say he was 100% with Texas? I'm guessing all of the above had you rocketing from 6 to midnight.13 points

Off the top of my head and in no particular order and I'm sure I'm forgetting hundreds thousands: 1. emoluments 2. housing U.S military at his hotel in Ireland, making money off the military 3. Extortion/bribery of Ukranian president 4. Campaign finance violations by paying off Stormy Daniels 5. Perjury--See Roger Stone trial thread 6. Stealing from his charity 7. Seeking illegal campaign contributions from foreign governments 8. Falsely accusing people (Obama and Schiff and I'm sure others I'm not thinking of) of crimes 9. Trying to out the whisteblower in violation of whistleblower law 10. Trying to get executive branch employees to break the law by promising them pardons if they do, especially ICE/CBP officials 11. Obstruction of justice in Russia investigation 12. Putting political information on code word only servers to stop Congress and the public from seeing them 13. Lying about the transcripts of the depositions--falsely accusing Schiff and the court reporters of making things up in the transcripts 14. Instructing executive branch employees to not participate in the impeachment inquiry/obstruction of justice/witness tampering 15. Witness tampering--see threatening to out the whistleblower, tweets about Mueller just before his testimony, and I'm sure there's more examples10 points

You know, you’re right. I was feebly attempting to keep a level head and not get into an incoherent yelling match and try to be respectful even though I wasn’t getting it in return. But it didn’t really matter. It’s the sad reality that his fealty to evil is more important to him than his relationship with his family. And it all blew up because I made a joke at Trump’s expense - I didn’t even bring the real heat about the racism and child imprisonments and criminality etc. A fucking joke about an ultimately meaningless football game. And, yeah, I’m sad my relationship with my dad may be damaged but I’m proud for saying “No more”. The state of this country right now is dangerous and staying quiet about it - even for family peace - is enabling it. The dad I used to have would have been proud of me for standing up for what’s right. And thank god for my mom. Ugh, I know this isn’t my personal blog so sorry for unloading here. I appreciate y’all.10 points

Wife noticed this morning that we have forgotten to run the dishwasher two nights in a row. Me: "Fine, just start it now." Her: "But we're about to go to work." Me: "So, the dishwasher doesn't need us here to run." Her: "But what if it leaks?" Me: "We've run this dishwasher 100 times and it has never leaked. Why would you assume it's going to leak now?" Her: "You of all people who is an expert in probability should realize that the past doesn't predict the future!" (Yes, I swear she said that.) Me: "Why the hell do you do this kind of shit where you conjure up horrible outcomes and use them to base your decision on?" (I actually know the answer to that -- it's because her mother does the exact same thing.) Her: "Are you telling me that there's no chance the dishwater is going to leak?" Me: "Well, there's also a chance this refrigerator is going to explode, so I guess we should unplug it every time we leave the house?" Her: "Now you're just being ridiculous."9 points

So, I haven't posted on here since game 7 of the WS, which as far as I'm concerned, didn't happen. I took that loss pretty tough and removed myself from the team and the end of this season as much as possible. there was just too much shit going on around the team - on the field and off the field - that i wasn't going to let it consume me and my enjoyment of watching my favorite sports team in my hometown. but, there's just too much shit being thrown around all over the place and just seems as if people - drellich - really have an axe to grind about our team to not say something. fuck them, fuck everyone who's not in the same boat as the houston astros. i couldn't give less of a shit than what you think or how you want to portray this team. this is my team, my hometown, and really, a big part of my livelihood - maybe to a fault but I can't stand to see all this shit going around national media making the astros out to be some hybrid form of degenerate, misogynists, scumbags and don't deserve to be called world series champs. maybe the collective group of us posters can be called that - and i'm not so blind where I can't see how some of those labels come into play from media who are just looking to throw shit around because it fits their narrative - but there's just a lot of shit and if it smells like shit, it's probably shit. so, no, i won't apologize for being a fan of the houston astros and if anything, should embrace the hate, want to be the team that every teams wants to beat. there's a reason so many teams are poaching our front office or admin staff or coaches. we win. in summmary, fuck the haters. flags fly forever. #HTownPride9 points

It's bizarre witnessing the conflating of the concept of a boss being involved with who is doing what two levels below his rank and what people think about CDC's responsibilities. Anyone running orgs or large teams depends upon their immediate reports to win in their own right inside of their departments or divisions. Guys who do not do that, do not last long with a big remit. That considered, good leadership will know what's going on with key employees several levels below, even 3-4 levels below in certain roles and circumstances. I would guess anyone on this board with any experience dealing with orgs of 50 or more people will understand this unless they are truly new in their career or simply some small soldier in the regime that may not care because they're just passing through, such as a waiter, janitor, flight attendant, receptionist. Yet somehow, because this is Texas sports we're talking about, it's all so much different and larger for the people in charge. Running a $250million remit, with 300 people in it and a big brand makes it all totally incomprehensible for the rest of us. Right. It's all the fucking same. Del Conte understands the staff for the football team at Texas. He knows and speaks with the GAs, trainers, etc., on up. He knows them by name and will chat with them in the hallways. I've had a fucking GA tell me that. It isn't surprising. That's good leadership. While he's unlikely to be naming who comes and goes, he's absolutely going to be aware of who is performing and who isn't, what their qualifications are, and where they're headed. He's going to want to understand Herman's view on the same, and what his plans are for the future within his realm. Anyone taking a position counter to this doesn't know a fucking thing about the program, or, really, about how the real world functions on any meaningful level.9 points

USA is in massive, massive trouble. It's elected leaders are a bunch of criminal morons. Why would the republicans take this strategy? As soon as they knew trump was compromised in the Russia thing they should have invited impeachment, removed him from office, and let pence finish it out while they trumpet their religious self righteousness over and over for the next guy they want to throw out for president. Would have been easy and they wouldn't be looking like a bunch of idiots who are covering up criminal activity. They truly are morons. Any reasonable American with half an IQ point can see this is a clown show administration and it needs to be removed. Problem may be more than half of Americans are complete drooling idiots. If that turns out not to be the case and trump gets slaughtered in this next election the new Democrat president needs to set up the DOJ to prosecute the shit out of trump, his family, and all of the republicans complicit in this cover up and obstructing justice. You didn't show up for a mandatory subpoena? You get prosecuted. Make examples of the entire lot. That is the only way this country has any chance of coming out of this and rebounding at all towards respectability.7 points

I'm for whatever gets us to 8 teams. If that means one loss Bama with their sole victory against a half decent team being Auburn, and then the Pac, Big 10 and Big 12 throwing a hissy fit about it, then so be it. 5 power conference champion auto bids plus 3 at large bids and we fix the majority of what is wrong with college football. You get rid of so much of the regional bias and conference strength comparison bullshit. Teams can stop scheduling so many non-conference patsies knowing that they still have a path to the playoffs regardless. The SEC and ACC can play as few conference games as they want. The Pac can still be relevant even when they have no dominant team. The jockeying for the last 3 bids would be epic but instead of arguing 1-4 like we do now, you are arguing teams 6-8 so there is still debate that drives interest. Teams at the top would still be incentivized to win for seeding purposes. It just makes too much sense so it probably won't ever happen.7 points

So? I mean I completely agree with your analysis. 100%. But then what? Would you have them not make their case for impeachment? The President and his minions competed an impeachable act. You make the case in the House exactly like they are today. You have solid, credible witnesses tell their story for all of America to see. You make the case as best you can as clearly as you can. Simple. Then the vote is whatever the vote is. The alternative is to let slide an impeachable offense due to political calculation. Maybe I'm too much of an idealist, but you take the L if that is the end result for the system and hope that the public vote of R's and Trump's second term vindicates that L historically.6 points

My sis, lives in NYC and is a crazy psycho liberal, practices seagull management during the holidays. Flies in, shits all over everything, then bails leaving us to deal with the mess. She hates my stepmother with every ounce of her soul and stepmom's unwavering support of Trump has only exacerbated the feelings. Last year, she brought her dog that shits and pisses on everything to my Dad and stepmom’s house. Stepmom had just spent a considerable sum of money redoing large portions of the house. At some point, my sister is out shopping or something and my stepmom locked the dog in a room to avoid having the dog shit and piss all over her house (sidenote, Stepmom has a yip dog that shits and pisses all over their house). Sister’s dog goes apeshit being locked up and claws/scratches/bites up 2 brand new doors, completely ruining them. Meltdown ensues by both parties where various insults are thrown and ends with my mother in law forcing my dad to give my sister a bill for about $7k to fix the doors and my sister telling my dad his wife is a cunt and he should divorce her even though they’ve been married for 30 years. Nobody has spoken in a year but sis is coming back this year with the dog. Can’t wait. Thanksgiving!6 points

Good. This fucking moron can show is ass and weapons-grade ignorance in 2 threads. The whole board is better off realizing just how stupid this renob truly is, even if he doesn't. LOL at the UT boosters being on board with poor coaching performance from assistants. The boosters are the ones screaming the loudest, and they're the ones that write the checks, and they're the ones that demand a return on their investment. Those 10 million dollar Founder's Suites in the SEZ come with full access to CDC, and those guys are happy to leverage that regularly. Also, it's so fucking laughable to sit there and talk about scheduling, equipment, budget, etc, for all the programs at UT as if they're all equal and CDC treats them all equally, or that any AD would treat them all equally. Football makes the money, it is the straw that stirs the drink, it gets special attention at every major program. This is obvious to literally every person on this message bard except for fucking Lenny over there tending to his rabbits.6 points

Well, a real AD sets the standard for the programs he presides over. 7-6 or 8-5 in year three is probably not the standard. Having a candid discussion about it with the coach is probably well within the ambit of an active AD. Particularly when certain units of the team are outstandingly bad. Also, I think an active AD can and should run active interference between the alumni and the coach(es). As in "Tom, I'm not going to tell you what to do. What I will tell you is that if things don't change, I can't protect you from the alumni for long or anymore. Now, as far as change goes, improvement in the record is the bottom line, but I think if you make some changes in your staff, you will give yourself some more time and goodwill as far as your record goes. I know that things happen, but you have pretty historically bad defense and special teams, do you think you can improve things there with a coaching change? Also, why the imbalance between offensive and defensive coaches and analysts, don't you think maybe you should even that up? Make some changes now, and you may buy yourself an extra loss or two next season without ramifications, otherwise . . . . "6 points

I love a well deserved "I told you so" as much as the next guy, but you need to work on the timing. Three games into the season is just a teeny bit premature, much like your experience with South Austin's mom. Feel free to come back in March and tell us so again.5 points
