csb alert: in my former life, i worked at a job which overlapped with the occasional music tour. in 2002 or so, we were on the bulk of the "anger-management" tour, which featured eminem, ludacris, papa roach, and others i cannot remember. our focus was with the eminem people. as he got huge, they determined they needed a double, mostly for walking in and out of venues and hotels to distract fans. they were at taco bell one night, and found a guy who looked exactly like eminem, but was like at 90% his size. like a slightly miniaturized version. they hired him to go on tour and he had been with them ever since. they called him "partial mathers", and his stories were straight insanity.23 points

So I take care of my Pops now, and his Alzheimer's limits him incredibly at this point now. This disease is so hard to understand. Tonight he pulled out his newspaper and had pen in hand correcting the newspapers mock (like he did for 30 years prior) , and been talking football like he hasn't missed a beat all night. Truly a miracle night, if you knew his condition prior. It is very likely a short lived victory, but we have been having the time of our life this evening. He just went to bed, and handed me the newspaper and pen ha. Enjoy your parents folks.21 points

Here's my problem with the implied presumption here, which is that both Democrats and Republicans deserve to be treated equally (a premise the Republicans, incidentally, rejected decades ago when they challenged and revoked the FCC's Fairness Doctrine). Six years ago, Norman Ornstein and Thomas Mann of the very conservative Brookings Institute wrote an essay in which they explained that "the Republican Party has become a radical insurgency—ideologically extreme, scornful of facts and compromise, and dismissive of the legitimacy of its political opposition." They're absolutely right about that. And when you are all those things that they accurately stated, you by definition cease to become a traditional parliamentary party. The problem is that both parties over the last four decades have shifted to the right. The Democrats today are basically the Republicans of the 1970's, and the Republicans today are a clown show that has drifted off the political spectrum entirely. It's profusely stupid, not to mention completely insane, to put these two groups on equal footing. It's not "political bias" to be dismissive of the notions that: -Trickle Down Economics works -Global Warming isn't real -Prayer in school needs to be "made legal again" -Planned Parenthood should be shut down -The Good Guy with a Gun -A national healthcare system is more financially disastrous than our financially disastrous system -Intelligent Design needs to be mandated in science curricula (although they aren't sure if public education in general needs to exist or not) -A wall needs to be built on our southern border -Right to Work -The minimum wage either needs to stay as it is or be obliterated entirely And a host of other viewpoints that are every bit as stupid as they are purely evil. The media has absolutely no motivation, nor have they any legitimate reason, in promoting these viewpoints as being equally valid as their blue counterparts. What I would take issue with in the media (and I know that they doubtlessly would fall into this) is when they weigh in on the infighting of the Democratic Party. In the tussles between the Bernie Sanders, AOC, Ilhan Omar, et al types against the traditional establishment, the media always seems to lend favorability to the latter group. That wouldn't be because the media itself is owned by corporations, who themselves are part of larger conglomerates, with target audiences (advertisers) and naturally lean in a certain ideological direction as a result of being constituted in such a way, would it? Why do that when he can watch pundits, on a network with a vested interest in supporting the president, scream and yell about it 24/7. Same as reading a 448-page report with over 2,000 citations, right?15 points

Yes it is true that Trump, currently the most powerful man in the world, is a morally bankrupt narcissistic delusional con man who is very likely compromised financially/personally by the Russians. But the real story we should be focusing on here is how deep state individuals in the IC tried to sound the alarm about how shitty Trump is so that he wouldn't become the most powerful man in the world.14 points

This thread is pretty humorous. Luckily I have a cool wife with limited dumbassery, but she's recently gone off the deep end coming up with new business ideas. They're usually along the lines of "feed tuna fish mayonnaise" and have zero chance of ever happening, but she marches along regardless. I've also noticed an uptick in business magazine subscriptions like "Inc." and "Fortune", which of course are never opened and go straight into recycling. Yesterday a new one popped up: Wife: I have a great idea. Me: Oh yeah, what is it this time? Wife: What the hell does that mean, "this time?" Me: (Backtracking quickly) I mean it was just last week you had that awesome idea about the pot holder with hand moisturizer inside. Remember? Wife: Oh yeah, remind me to follow up on that. Anyway I saw a video of a bunch of kids dancing at Coachella. They all had plastic cups with God knows what inside, but here's the thing! (She's fully animated now, hands outstretched, eyes wide open, waiting for me to engage.) Me: (putting down the remote, sighing internally). What thing? Wife: The drinks inside were all splashing out of the cups! So I'm thinking, what a waste! Shouldn't there be some kind of cap on those plastic cups to keep the drinks from spilling? I mean how many music festivals are there out there and how many kids are spilling drinks out of plastic cups??? Me: Millions? Wife: (pointing at me like a crazy person) That's right, millions! So here's my idea. I come up with a cover for those cups. I'm thinking it would be like a square piece of Saran Wrap but the edges have some kind of glue on them. So you could pull it out of a small pouch and wrap it over the cup. Voila, no more spilling. Me: But if you put a cover over a cup how do you drink from it? Wife: (pointing at me again, still crazed). A ha! I already thought of that. We cut a little slice in the middle, so they can still drink from it but not spill. Me: So how would it stick to the cup again? Wife: Not sure yet but that will be the first thing I research. Me: You know, I think there are international conglomerates that specialize in plastic cups and caps for those cups. I'd bet if there was a need for a product as you describe they would have come up with something like that already. *insert awkward pause, ten seconds of silence while my wife's face turns red* Wife: WHY CAN'T YOU JUST BE SUPPORTIVE! Me: (Backtracking quickly). Remember my friend Bill? I think his brother is a patent attorney (a complete lie). Maybe I should reach out to him and see if he has any recommendations on how *we* should move forward with this. Wife: (visibly relaxing). Really? That would be awesome, thanks honey! Me: (pats self on back, reengages with the remote)14 points

I coach our high school girls' softball team and pretty much all of my weekends have been tied up since the end of February and will continue to be through the end of the school year. My wife has been itching for a weekend trip to Billings just to get out of town and shop. I finally got tired of hearing about it and told her to shut the fuck up whining about it and go....but she had to take our daughter with her. Against my better judgement, I let her take my truck so she could get it serviced Monday morning before they headed back home. Its a 300 mile trip one way to Billings and I had nothing but dread leading up to them leaving, and worried while they were en route. She's already driven off the edge of the highway and sideswiped a couple of highway markers on the way back from there once before awhile back while looking for house keys in her center console (75 miles from home....as if she could unlock the house that far from home!). She called while pulling into the Sonic lot as soon as she got into town. About 30 seconds into the conversation she said, "let me call you back." I didn't think anything of it as I thought she was ordering. I didn't hear from her again for about 6 hours. Again, didn't think anything of it as I figured she was just getting her "big city" shopping in. Fast forward to Monday morning...I called to see if the dealership has said anything about my truck. She said, "no, but I have something to tell you." I knew right away she'd fucked up my truck. She said that when she was talking to me as she pulled into Sonic that she sideswiped the stall on the passenger side. Instead of just stopping and backing up like a normal fucking person would do, though, she powered right through leaving dents, scrapes , and yellow paint down the entire passenger side. And to prove she was committed to completely fucking it up, she dented the driver's side front fender trying to back out! She asked if I wanted her to send photos and I told her if she did she better never return home. I was so pissed by then that seeing what it looked like would have only made it worse. It took me 45 minutes to even go out and see what it looked like after they got home. She said the Sonic manager told her they put in new stalls last year and that they are smaller. Bullshit! I was just there in October and they were the same ones they've always had. No one does that kind of work up here in the winter. Its easy to tell how it happened - she took a narrow approach instead of a wider right turn into the stall. I paid the truck off a little over a year ago and told her I'd dropped the coverage to liability only and that the damage was $9500. In reality, its fully covered with a $1000 deductible (and the damage was 'only' $7000), but I'm gonna make her sweat for a couple of weeks before telling her the truth. I haven't parlayed this into a blow job yet (been sick the past couple of days) but I have gotten breakfasted cooked for me at 6 am the past two mornings. Here's the damage....12 points

No, you don't care. In fact, you know that a lot of what you just mentioned was fully appropriate and justified or benign. You know that Steele himself presented the dossier as unverified raw intelligence. You know that the FISA application presented the dossier as unverified raw intelligence. What you DO care about is constantly redirecting all negative focus back to the Democrats, and because Trump makes that very hard, you try to dress up some bullshit in, as jimmyjazz said, a cloak of legitimacy. All you are is a more sophisticated texashammer.10 points

This is obviously a very, very mentally disturbed person. I do not want to completely generalize here, but these are the kind of people that Dotard's message of hate and fake news bullshit is reaching and this is the end result of that kind of rhetoric. This will not be the last story we hear of this nature. Not by a longshot. Amongst a ridiculous litany of reasons on why he has to be beaten in November of 2020, this is one of them. He is awakening the worst and most heinous aspects of some of the people who live in our country. Through his tweets, propaganda rallies and public statements, he is adding fuel to the fire for people who do not need much in order to go off the deep end and commit some seriously horrific atrocities to show support for Dotard. If you are a Republican and are still supporting him right now you are probably beyond help. You are on the wrong side of history and honestly you're just a fucked up human being at this juncture if you don't grasp what supporting this narcissistic asshole means. You are actively helping prop up his message of hate and there is no possible defense you can provide other than you are frightened at the prospect of whites having to realize that those evil brown-skinned folks deserve to be treated as equals in all aspects of our society. You are more/less the equivalent of the white South Africans (not all) from the late 80's who trudged forward fighting a hopeless and thankfully doomed cause and you will get exactly what you deserve for doing so.10 points

She had 4 dogs and a chihuahua And I got this tin mug, that's made out of tin. It's metal. I know that. There are 3 positions in baseball that I just don't play: #1) infield, and #2) pitcher or catcher Easy as peasy I was makin' lettuce wraps, and I made them with.....lettuce. I like podcasts, but I hate the talking. I read that a sandwich was named after the Earl of Sandwich. Seems like it should be because the fixin's are sandwiched between bread. There are really only two types of clowns...the murdering kind and the buggering kind. It tough deciding which one to hire for your kid's birthday party since both are funny in their own way. Scott, I ain't your fuck monkey I was on the shitter and decided to make peace with myself. My only regret in life is not taking enough chances. Tina booked a trip to Vietnam. I hope none of the guys my dad killed are still around. Weird morning. I woke up from a dream. My softball team isn't any good but we're drunk and happy.9 points

Everyone knew the Steele reports were raw intelligence, which are just rumors from unverified sources. It was intended to point federal investigators and investigative journalists in various directions to investigate and corroborate. That is what it did. Much of the Steele reports has turned out accurate: - russian regime had been cultivating trump for 5 yrs in effort to divide western alliances. TRUE - one aspect to influence trump was to exploit his sexual perversions. POSSIBLY TRUE. Cohen and Mueller investigated Russian tapes and were unable to deny their existence. Trump and Cohen discussed tapes - russia was using state sponsored cyber operations TRUE - kremlin behind dnc emails released by Wikileaks TRUE - Russian and trump coordination was managed by Manafort POSSIBLY TRUE. Manafort was providing polling data to Russia and has not cooperated with investigators. - Page holds secret meetings in Moscow with Rosneft official MOSTLY TRUE. Steele said it was rosneft president but it was a lower level employee. - trump paid bribes and hookers in St. Petersburg UNKNOWN. Hasn’t been investigated. - Russians had more emails on Clinton waiting to be released TRUE - Cohen’s secret meeting Prague UNLIKELY TRUE. Mueller didn't investigate but dismissed it based on Cohen’s testimony8 points

Fuck the Courts. Open impeachment hearings. Call Mueller. Call Cohen (whose testimony provides separate bases for impeachment). Then subpoena Barr. If he refuses to testify at an impeachment hearing, then impeach him for obstructing Congress from carrying out its constitutional obligation. Then call Mnuchin about the tax returns. If he refuses to do the same, then impeach him, too. Then impeach Trump, adding an additional article for obstructing Congress's constitutional oversight duties. If the Senate Republicans vote to acquit, then fine--it's a vote to dissolve the United States Congress as a legitimate body. Let the judgment of history be on them. eta: and by the way--if you do this, you tie up the Senate with trials and impair its ability to confirm Trump's various appointees.8 points

Here's what it boils down to: If they don't begin an impeachment inquiry and continue on the path of investigating everything in the various committees, Trump will continue to stonewall, none of this will get the coverage it should in terms of quality nor quantity, and Trump will drive the narrative with his own talk about investigating the illegal investigators and accusations that his political opponents are treasonous. He will be on the attack, which is what he loves to do and when he is most politically successful. If they begin an impeachment inquiry, they will have more power to compel cooperation and render Trump's obstructive efforts fruitless, and the exact same information that would be revealed by various seemingly unconnected committee investigations (absent any obstruction) will be centralized and compiled into one major narrative that sways people better than the alternative (think reading the entire Mueller report as a first impression vs. learning all of its contents as we did in drips and drabs over nearly two years), and will receive much more coverage. The Dems will drive the narrative and Trump will be on the defensive, which he absolutely hates and, more importantly, is absolutely horrible at. The process itself will sway some more people. Not his base, but some of the dedicated bothsides centristy types and a lot people who just don't typically pay much attention to politics. It will eventually result in a vote to impeach, and I have a very hard time imagining any House Dems, even those closer to the middle, voting against impeachment. Trump's overwhelming criminality and unfitness will render any "well I'm in a purple district and my voters are more conservative than San Franciscans" considerations irrelevant. So he'll be impeached and it will go to a Senate vote, in which the Republican senate will certainly continue to protect him. That's fine. Losing that vote can easily be framed in a positive light for the Democrats. All they have to do is make the case, which is overwhelming, and tell the American people "look at everything these people are willing to defend so that they can continue to destroy your health care and give even more of your tax dollars to billionaires."7 points

My MIL is forbidden from driving our cars when she visits up here. She's hit the garage with my wife's Tahoe and then a couple years later hit the shopping cart corral with the wife's (then) new QX80. She's never touched my car, nor will she ever touch my car. Last time she came up to watch our kids so we could go on a trip, we rented her a Corolla.6 points

Stopped by Kroger on the way home today and walked out just in time to see a tornado go by (Bryan Tx, 4:45pm). Called the wife who was still at work and told her I just watched a tornado from Kroger parking lot and it's heading toward our house, wife responds "did you get my coffee mate?" This video was from right down the road. Our house is a few miles east of town and the tornado petered out before it got there and no I didn't get her damn coffee mate.6 points

Let's restate. Opposition research conducted by a foreign intelligence operative and funded by a political entity was transmitted to the FBI through a back channel network that involved individuals in the FBI with conflicts of interest and individuals tied to the State Department. This work product was based on intel from Russian sources, providing a mix of disinformation and plausible content. That work product was used without verification by the FBI to bolster FISA application(s) for surveillance of at least one US citizen with a connection to another political entity. According to Woodward, another component of the intelligence community tried to have content from that work product inserted into the IC assessment of Russian interference. In time the FBI attempted but was unable to verify the material, and found the sources to be unreliable. At the same time that the sources were being determined unreliable, yet another individual associated with yet another component of the intelligence community was spreading knowledge of the content of unverified opposition research among journalists, and orchestrating a series of events which included the reluctant participation of the Director of the FBI to provide cover for the public release of that material. This served to pour gasoline on a fire intended to undermine the legitimacy of a democratically elected US President. You guys don't care about any of this, cause Trump. I get it. I do care. Not because of Trump, but because I have consistent concerns about abuses within the US intelligence community both here and abroad. Please keep this post at top of mind when the IG report is issued in May/June timeframe so that we can come back to it.4 points

Yet another aggy in the wild embarrassing themselves story: My company had the honor today of hosting a team from NASA and the ISS for a presentation on collaborative opportunities in space. The keynote presenter was a NASA astronaut who flew on 3 shuttle missions including 2 deployments to the ISS. She logged over 42 days in space. She's a certified bad-ass by any unit of measurement, and a Texas Ex to boot. During the Q&A one of the questions from the audience was to ask her to describe her most thrilling moment as an astronaut. Now, ramjet can attest to this better than most, but being an astronaut doesn't equate to being a great or inspiring public speaker. Her engineering principles were on full display. She was calculated, precise...anything but boastful (almost to her detriment; the audience wants to be wowed by tales of what they'll never experience). But she did her best to describe the immense power of the 8 1/2 minute launch, the beauty of seeing the aurora borealis plus massive weather patterns on earth from space,, etc. She also talked about how one of the most memorable and cool things she saw was the view from the shuttle each time (she was on the Discovery all 3 missions) upon re-entry when (I'm gonna fuck up the particulars) the plasma super heated and a brilliant--in her words--"burnt orange glow encased the vehicle. As a Longhorn I thought that was really cool." The audience here in Austin politely chuckled/applauded as you'd expect. Except for the dumb fuck, twenty something aggy who waited until the crowd noise subsided to let out a 5 second long "hisssssssssss." Heads snapped around to find this douche who, when he realized he was being stared down, lifted his right hand with a feeble gig em sign. This dipshit is two years or less into his career & he thinks the appropriate thing to do in a public event (we were also streaming it globally) is to hiss at an astronaut and PhD in engineering? What the fuck is wrong with these idiots?4 points
