  4. Jesus people. Stop engaging Zavala. He routinely lies. Not half-truths, not nuanced argument. Straight up lies. He gets called on it by posters and then moves on without addressing it. He's a troll and a coward.

  5. I don't believe for a moment that any of this is entertaining to you. I think it gives you a bit of anxiety knowing that your best weapon against a group who you despise is a bumbling fraud as a businessman who is completely unable to be consistently truthful even about inconsequential details as a president. The guy is a complete mediocrity in the realm of business and he's fighting for his life to conceal the financial records that will prove that. At best. At best he's breaking the most common norms of a system built on checks and balances to hide the fact that he regularly lost large amounts of other people's money. You support the destruction of basic aspects of democracy so a con artist rube who has spent most of his life cultivating a celebrity profile can save himself from the embarrassment of truth. And the best you can hope for is that he's fighting so desperately to hide the fact that he's a mediocre mind rather than an overt criminal. Staunch conservatives who have spent their lifetime as prosecutors are saying he has committed crimes. There will always be handfuls of wanks who will say otherwise, especially on cable news, but I think you and everyone else are perfectly aware of why you're especially narrow and selective on whose opinion you value there. You quoted me in a post and used the word "delusion" while insisting that a report exonerated him when it clearly did not. Trump is currently shitting his pants and fighting the public testimony of a guy whose report he claims completely exonerates him. And you've just decided, based on the word of a guy who lies almost everyday, to believe him instead of showing slight curiosity to see if the guy who exonerated him will in fact exonerate him. What's at stake is the separation of powers and whether there are particular people in this country who are above the law. You're claiming that people are delusional while supporting a person fighting a war to hide specific realities. You aren't entertained. You're emotionally invested in a guy who lies on a comical level and it gives you angst that the momentum for transparency is surging.

  7. After catching up on the last several pages, I've come to the conclusion that those of us who passionately oppose Trump, like myself, need to tighten up our language in criticizing Trump and his supporters. While we may find common cause with certain political groups on specific policies, we also need to recognize that there are various shades of ideologies. For example, I don't believe the interests of the American public are best served by an unfettered, laissez-faire, unregulated free market due to the tendency of capitalism to drift toward monopolies/oligopolies and also think that certain services would best be provided as a public good (education, healthcare, environmental protection). In my opinion, those beliefs don't make me a socialist, per se, but one who thinks a mixed market economy, supported by a strong safety net for protecting citizens and entrepreneurs, is the best method of achieving the American Dream. Having said that, I also don't agree that Trump and all his supporters are neo-Nazis. If I were to pigeonhole him, I'd say that our president is 1) an isolationist at heart with strong penchants toward 2) white nationalism and 3) authoritarianism and, therefore, often finds common cause with groups who support those three ideologies. Let's try to be more precise in our criticisms of this orange-haired buffoon and the various despicable political groups who support him.

  9. Well, it seems this video may have been withheld by investigators and clearly refutes the officers claim that “My safety was in jeopardy at more than one time,” Are you comfortable with officers lying in order to obtain arrest and then investigators withholding evidence of said lies?

  15. This is from a few weeks back, but figured I needed to share. I told her I was going to go to Home Depot after work to get some tomato cages. I set them down on the back porch and then go inside to drop off on my work shit. Her: "Are those the tomato cages?" Me: "Yes." Her: "What if the kids hurt themselves on them?" Our kids are 11, 12, and 14... Me: "How would that happen exactly?" Her: "Oh, I don't know, just playing around." I laughed it off, went to the garden and stuck them into the ground. The next day, she sees them out the window and says "Oh, the spiky parts go into the ground." Me: wft

  24. Remember a long time ago at some sporting events and rodeos there'd be a little monkey dressed like a cowboy mounted on a sheep dog and they'd just fucking haul ass around the arena while generic jock jams blasted through the speakers? That's when I knew either Hulk Hogan or Donald Trump or the guy who invented the Oscar Mayer Weiner Car would eventually be president. I conditioned myself for this over the years by punctuating various catch phrases with an air guitar.

  26. It's not that every trump supporter is a neo-nazi, but that every neo-nazi is a trump supporter. If you can't understand why trump failing to denounce and push away those (very fine) people could lead to an impression that he enjoys their support, and why that is a strong piece of evidence to the claim that trump is an anti-semite, then you're pretty fucking dense then bucko.

  34. Great read from Esquire: “Mitch McConnell's Trump Defense Strategy Is Proof the Republican Party Is an Authoritarian Outfit…The president is destroying any institution of democracy that could provide a check on his power, and Republicans in Congress are helping him.” "The sad fact of the matter is that the Republican Party in Congress has abandoned all pretense of performing its constitutional duties, choosing instead to fall in lockstep behind a leader who engages in daily attempts to undermine or destroy the institutions of democracy that might serve as a check on his power, and who has embraced political violence from the rally podium. Now he's musing about getting his term extended for reasons just as fabricated as those he used to deploy active-duty troops on U.S. soil. It's not really that complicated what's happening here. The United States has an authoritarian strongman for a president, and he has broken the law by obstructing an investigation into himself and his associates-and, likely, by attempting to monetize his office through The Great American Heist. At the very least, he has abused his power as an official of the public trust and betrayed his oath to defend the Constitution. He will continue to destroy the republic by a thousand cuts until he is removed, and his allies in the Republican Party will help him. The only question is whether those with any allegiance to the republic can grasp this fully, and before it's too late." https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/mitch-mcconnells-trump-defense-strategy-155300051.html?.tsrc=fauxdal

  35. Did not intend to post in this thread, but when our respected friend MAROON opines... - Pierce does have a good resume. Note that last year's Regional Championship was his first. - SHSU did not make a Regional but their record was 35-24 in 2011 before Pierce. "The cake was baked" - Tulane's losing season 23-29 before Pierce can be attributed to the head coach Rick Jones retiring immediately before the season due to health issues and a roster of 21 freshmen/sophomores. His age and health may have affected previous seasons. - Note that after those 21 and Pierce left Tulane was 25-33 in '17 and 27-31 in '18. "The cake was not baked" Doing fairly well this year at 28-19 with 19 freshmen/sophomores and RPI of 87. - Difficult for non-Power 5 teams to make the Regionals due to strength of schedule/RPI. Almost have to win the conference championship/tournament unless from a strong league. - All college baseball teams are subject to down seasons. Florida and Florida St are on the bubble to make the tournament this year. But as discussed ad nauseam, the regression/development of Texas this year is concerning. - Pierce has received outstanding support since his arrival from attendance, being allowed to change the dimensions of a historic field designed by a Hall of Fame coach, and facility improvements including the new training area. He needs continued support to see if this year was only an anomaly.
