I feel like we're close to the edge here. A shhh was just issued and a bunch of big recruits are in town. I know it's useless to ask Surly to not freak out but can we just postpone the Giles shitshow to Monday? Or at least Sunday night?14 points

Here is what I know (have been out of town for last month so have not talked to family in a while). Bryce has been UT fan for years - Mack Brown football camps, etc... Loves coach Hand. But has been unhappy with repeated attempts by UT coaches to push spring football over track. “You will miss a lot of football stuff if you continue throwing in college” kind of comments. Also - family a little unhappy that Herman still has not sat down with Bryce 1on 1. Contrast that to OU. Lincoln Riley has had more than one personal session with him - even presenting him with his future football and track schedule - down to daily detailed workout times. They are encouraging him to throw. It sounds like A&M (mom’s and brother’s alma maters) is working the same track-friendly angle. Foster is a nationally ranked discus/shot athlete. Possibly olympic level. Honestly, it sounds like the coaches are poisoning this recruitment by marginalizing his track interest. I go back to work Monday and will get more info.11 points

He's an OU mod, so it's safe to assume he's got lots of cocks plugged into him.9 points

because Republicans LOVE Trump’s corruption and gross incompetence, his daily humiliation of the country on the world stage, his destruction of democracy, and the fact that Trump not only commits, but actually admits to multiple felonies on national TV. they fucking love it all because the see it as “making liberals mad,” and that makes them feel like winners. Republicans gleefully endorse treason and can’t wait to sell the country further down the river in order to “teach the libs a lesson.” and that explains Trump’s 90+ percent approval among Rs, and why they don’t want a challenger in the primary.8 points

DC's are definitely a compromise boats but great for boating with kids. Mine's not new but I have a 2005 Key West 2020DC with Yamaha F150. I've had it 30 miles out of Freeport on a Saturday fishing for snapper and kings and towed the kids on tubes and skis at the lake on Sunday. I can fish 3 pretty easy and we take 5 or 6 out for watersports. We have towed the boat up to Arkansas to Lake Ouchita and DeGray, down to Corpus, over to Destin and a bunch of lakes in East and Central Texas. Most of our family vacations centered around taking the boat somewhere we hadn't been before. Came real close to buying a Robalo R227 about 6 or 7 years ago and it or the R247 would be on my shortlist for upgrading. If I had Surly 1% money, I would have a Grady Freedom 275 with twin 250s.8 points

Just started a family trip to Berlin, then Norway and Denmark. For us, Berlin is as much a visit to a familiar city and friends as it is a tourist visit. My daughter thinks of it as her second home, and we’ll be meeting up with my son and his host family, as well as my daughter’s old host family (who she genuinely sees as family, and they her) this afternoon. We’ll be seeing some things we haven’t seen, and some that we have. But today, we woke up early (our first morning, so our bio clocks are still adjusting). We are staying in Mitte. We got up and greeted the day with coffee and pastries - breakfast for three for 6.75 euros. Then, we walked around the hood in the Saturday morning quiet. We all love just being in a city. Not just the landmarks, but just being in the place itself. And on our wander, we stumbled across a treasure. A story of Berlin, 1945, in three photos. Since I was a kid, I’ve loved visiting cemeteries. They tell the story of the people, which necessarily includes a narrative of place; we are where we live, and die. We came across an open gate, leading into a green courtyard, mulberry trees dripping with ripe fruit. The Dorotheenstadt and Friedrichswerder Parishes Cemetery. My daughter came across a crypt, still bearing the pockmarks of shrapnel and bullets from the Battle of Berlin. Stone provided good cover for a German soldier. Or a Soviet soldier. In the din of battle, who’s to tell the difference? A mass grave of civilians who did not survive the battle, including entire families. The city - their city - fell around them. And along the back wall, the grave of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a martyr of conscience, killed by the regime in its waning days...resisting till the end, in the name of love and the Gospel. The dead still speak, if we listen. And we definitely need to listen. It was a beautiful and cool place. It’s also the final resting place of Hegel and Bertol Brecht. Now we’re back at our hotel for a moment, waiting on my son and his family to arrive. It’s their first trip to Berlin (they are native German, but lifelong westerners). After lunch, they want to head to the Brandenburg Tor. And why not? It’s damned cool, and I won’t mind seeing it again. Oh, I also should have taken pics of dinner last night. Sweet lord. The tastes of German summer - cucumber soup, sautéed chanterelles in tomato cream sauce, fresh bread, schnitzel, kaesespatzle (the best I’ve ever had) and a cold house Pilsner from the 20s-era pub down the street. I didn’t take pics. We just ate and enjoyed.7 points

When talking about Penn State, you should probably avoid putting the phrases “I hope” and “pull it off” in the same sentence.7 points

"I've never even met her." "Here's a picture of you and your wife with her and her husband." "I mean ... yeah, I met her, but ISIS is gone. Okay? I ended the caliphate. Sure, there are a few crazies left but they're gone and when you look at the growth. 3.5%. Could be up to 99% but who knows? No other president has done this ever but I got a beautiful letter a beautiful hand written letter and hand delivered. If you take a picture of it you'll go to prison, but we were losing billions but not anymore. Not with Trump, but there was no collusion and the crimes committed by the democrats and why no investigations there?"7 points

On Thursday my wife tried to mow our backyard ( A for effort). She got halfway through and said the mower stopped. As a fix, she added oil to it. "Why?" I asked. "I dunno." She still couldn't start it. Fast forward to today (Saturday). I pull the mower out and check the oil. It's several inches above the fill line. I show her. Her: Oh, I get it. Sorry. By the way, that small red jug next to the big gas tank is the oil that's supposed to go in the mower, right? Me: That's the gas for the leaf blower...FML. Her: Well, maybe you should label it. Me (showing the small red gas tank to my 8 year old daughter: What's that say, sweetie? Daughter: gas-o-line6 points

I think it’s worthwhile to mention that this story came to light because of reporting from local journalists including The Union-Tribune and The Reader Both of those publications also did the initial reporting that ended up bringing down “Duke” Cunningham. Journalists are important to our democracy.6 points

This staff cleaning up in Dallas would be a hilarious shift in the recruiting landscape. It would also really hamper OU, so I’m all for it.5 points

Hell of a week for dotard. Continued to obstruct justice in the Russia Investigation. His Intelligence Community is running a secret cyber war against Russia they can’t tell Trump about for fear he’s compromised by foreign governments so they leak it to the NYT instead. Trump made it clear he’s open for business to cheat in the next election with hostile foreign governments. Officially launched his re-election campaign at a monster truck klan rally in Florida. Fired his internal pollster for not having favorable polls and leaking them to the media. His closest media ally, Sean Hannity, was busted colluding with Paul Manafort just before he was thrown in jail for obstructing justice. Nearly started a war with Iran because reasons. Took a lot of heat for the dying kids in the concentration camps at the border. And finally, he was credibly accused of rape, again. We should pray for our president.5 points
