I find the insinuation that Texas message boards start rumors that then reach A&M boards and slowly become possible fact absolutely distasteful. We would never.26 points

One of my best girlfriends is Iranian American. Her Dad immigrated here after the revolution. He died last year. Her Grandmother, Aunts and Uncles from Tehran were unable to come to their own sons/brothers/sister funeral because the guy you voted for banned them from entering the United States because they are muslim. I went to the funeral, it was heartbreaking to think of all of the family that were absent, all because bigots like you elected a bigot. You make Uncle Tom look like Frederick Douglass. Vile piece of shit.25 points

Had our fantasy football draft and one of my buddies flew in from Utah. He knows Fillinger a little, but is friends with his coach. Said Fillinger is super athletic but raw. Really good kid who lost a parent (or parents?) somewhere along the way. Very tight with his boys. Fillinger was trying to get that giant 6 foot 7 kid to get an interest in Texas but sounds like he is headed to Oregon. My buddy coaches some and expects Fillinger to take off with our coaching staff. Nothing really new, but all good to hear. Hook em!12 points

Well obviously you have to pluck a 2%er. My oldest boy has his whole room decked out in burnt orange and Mrs. Scholz is fine with it "I hope he gets into a good school". edit: Also, I don't care for you very much and I cannot be destroyed.12 points

As far as I'm concerned a country that denies entry to an elected Member of Congress should be ineligible for financial aid. I mean, it's not complicated. There's a way they could have worked out a visa between the Members if they were concerned about inappropriate political activity.10 points

Well, see, this is where we get into the issue that so many people seem to have with the concept of "degree." Let's assume I agree with you that "Antifa" sucks (I don't entirely, because it's a blanket term -- but let's presume that you're just referring to the masked anarchist types). So let's look at it this way. You say that "both groups" - Antifa and white nationalists - suck. Likewise, we can surely agree that other things grouped in pairs suck. For example, having to attend an all-day youth sports tournament outside in August sucks. Also, colon cancer sucks. Both things suck. I don't want to do either one. But, is one of those things MARKEDLY worse? Yeah, I'm gonna guess that every single person diagnosed with colon cancer would trade that diagnosis for an August day outside from dawn to dark 100% of the time. There is no real reason to believe that Antifa wants to wage a genocidal war against entire classes of human beings. There is DEFINITELY reason to believe that white nationalists do -- the bloodstained floors of an El Paso Wal-Mart, a Pittsburgh synagogue, and a Christchurch mosque stand as stark evidence of that truth. So, keep you "both of them suck" shit where it belongs -- crammed in the recesses of your brain. I don't give a flying fuck about being hot outside in August. I DO give a flying fuck about colon cancer, because it's fucking trying to kill me. Kinda the same way I feel about white nationalists. Here's an easy way for the simple-minded to look at it. I regularly shop at Fiesta, a place known to contain a large number of hispanics at any given time. I have done so for years. Would you say that I am more likely, or less likely, to be murdered by a white nationalist while shopping at Fiesta today than I was 3 years ago? Since we all know that the answer is "more likely," your "they both suck" shit just fucking pisses me off.10 points

Since tickets are so expensive I figure there may be many surly members that are looking for a place to watch the game in good company. Bar owned by a fellow Surlyhorns member! Come out and watch the game with us and drink for free - bring some friends and get ready to party. The password will be "Muledick" - lurkers are welcome! https://goo.gl/maps/LEe61C5dyBKVSLCt89 points

Sat down at the regular sports bar with my buddies right at kickoff. Left after the first quarter, without ever getting a chance to order anything. Drove to the movies and watched two of them before heading home to wife and kids. Ended up being a decent time. I remember thinking that day how numb I'd become to losing. Fuck Chuckles and his terrible fucking coaching.9 points

Quick background; wrong-way drivers on freeways have been an issue as of late in the Phoenix metro area. They are usually drunk and obviously fucking idiots. Gets a lot of press as you may imagine. Most of the incidents happen in the early morning hours. Driving home from a show last night at around 11:30 PM. Driving in the #2 lane . . . GF: Better watch out for wrong-way drivers. Me: On it. GF: They usually drive in the lanes closest to the median. Maybe move over. Me: I'm not driving in the slow lane to avoid the potential for a wrong-way driver. GF: Well if we get killed, you know what I am going to say to you, don't you? Me: I don't think we are going to the same place. GF: ???????9 points

https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/27379180/the-50-best-college-football-programs-150-years The 50 best college football programs over 150 years 9. Texas 64.0 | 4 national titles If you don't believe the Longhorns belong among the sport's elite, just ask one. Texas has reached the elite in fits and starts: Just when you think the Longhorns start to fit at the top, they disappear again. But the good times have been very good: the 1940s under Dana X. Bible; the 1960s under Darrell K. Royal; the 2000s under Mack Brown. Not to mention that if there was a category for mascot and fight song, the Horns get points for those too. 32. Texas A&M 54.2 | 2 national titles The Aggies had a long history of playing second fiddle to Texas in the Southwest Conference and the Big 12 South, so they up and made the leap to the Southeastern Conference in 2012, much as Arkansas had done two decades earlier. And that made a difference. In the SEC West, the Aggies play second fiddle to Alabama. And LSU. And Auburn. Texas A&M has been cursed with a long history of goodness in a sport where only greatness is revered. Aside from R.C. Slocum's run in the 1990s, Bear Bryant's in the 1950s and Homer Norton's just before World War II, Texas A&M has lived a life of above average. Jimbo Fisher, over to you. whoops. they're behind: wisconsin-whitewater, whittenberg, st johns minnesota, mount union, north dakota state, etc...8 points

Also, if you are thinking about going cold turkey, don't just dismiss thestud's story as his friend simply having PTSD from being a soldier. I came off cold turkey and had very bad hallucinations and I've never been in the military or really any situation to cause me to mentally react the way I did to quiting without medical help. Not saying it will happen to you, but that's also what I thought about myself. I had quit maybe 10 times by myself and had never had a reaction like that, so I didn't think about being monitored when I stopped that time. I was just taking a break, too. Not even trying to quit for good. I also couldn't figure out what the fuck happened to me. The alcohol withdrawl wasn't even on my radar. It took me a few months after I had quit to piece together a lot of events over that previous year and a lot of reading to make me realize that those hallucinations were 100 percent from that. And it was some scary shit. I only remember bits and pieces of it, but I was ordering Uber's to go to parties (I don't go to parties) that didn't exist, with friends of friends who didn't exist. Crawling around the sidewalks of my nieghborhood looking for the Uber driver's keys that he had lost. Yelling at my neighbors who were asking me why I was crawling around the neighborhood yelling at nobody at 3 in the morning. Thinking my Uber driver and his family and their dog were all in my backyard looking for the keys and yelling at them to leave. Thinking there were raccoons inside my house. Just bizzare shit. I actually had ordered Uber and Lyft because there were charges, but that's all I know. I found out later that those sorts of DT's can be brought on by liver disease, which I didn't know I had. But now I do. So it was too late for me in that regard. My liver's cirrhotic. There's no going back from that. My life has been significantly shortened and that's something I have to think about everyday. That's something I had to tell my mother and my father and my sister and my close friends. You, and anyone stuggling with this, think about what that conversation is going to be like with your family if it comes to that. And the conversations you have with yourself everyday when you're wondering how the fuck you could let it go that far. I hope I'm not being preachy, just trying to give you my personal reality that might make you think about it from my perspective, so hopefully it doesn't become yours.8 points

Folks, read the above. Note the repeated use of "far left." And note the application of that term. There are only two acceptable creeds in this country: fealty to Trump (as the GOP has made it clear there's no room for anyone who is not 100% in on Trump), or "you're the far left." That's a pretty fucking incredible spectrum. There is no "1-100 spectrum," where folks are at varying degrees. Nope. There's just Trump, and "far left." Anything left of Trump is "far left." Narratives like "maybe we shouldn't demonize an ethnicity as invaders, because that can lead to bad shit" is "far left," for example. Hell, here's some modern stuff that's at odds with Trump, and thus reflects "far left" ideology: I mean, of course, those are the farewell words from the oval office by PRESIDENT FUCKING REAGAN....but yeah.....far left and stuff. We don't even need to get into other notable members of the "far left" who loathe Trump and the direction of the modern GOP - dirty hippies like George Will, David Brooks, etc. Oh, and this part is fun: I guess you don't remember back in the day (granted, that was a while back) when I was a regular defender of GWB (not a 100% defender, mind you, but definitely a consistent defender as to a variety of attacks from, yep, the left). And of course, my record of voting in GOP primaries and participating in GOP precinct conventions for many years is just a mirage, I guess. Again, folks, read what he writes -- historical revisionism is a necessary foundation for their beliefs. They have to create utter falsehoods for their deranged worldview to make any sense. So, that's what they do.7 points

It’s a way for idiots to draw a box around every positive historical advance they’re aware of and associate themselves with it. “Western culture” is broad enough to draw vicariously pride from the Greek pagans who formulated geometry, the European fops of the Enlightenment, and German engineering. I’m sure he’d love to use “Christian American culture” but that would limit him to innovations like faith healing and TruckNutz.6 points
