  2. What? We definitely were NOT trying to score on the first two snaps. On third, you take he TD if it’s there.

  4. If you would have asked me if this team could come back from an immediate 14-0 deficit I would have laughed in your face then punched it for asking such a stupid question. I thought for sure the wheels were going to come off and did not think this team had the ability (desire maybe?) to grind out a come from behind win like that. So serve up the crow, I’m hungry.

  5. You listen to me you son of a bitch, we’re going to lose this game by 20 so quit your inverse sunshine pumping. Have you ever seen a receiver surrounded by 6 DBs and yet somehow wide open? And then those DBs all miss the tackle and 2 of them get injured and ejected for targeting each other. Didn’t think so. Do some research next time before running your mouth.

  6. This young pup deserves his own thread. He has played extremely well even when our defense was looking like pure shit in our losses. I feel bad for any center and guard that tries to block this dude. Just like Poona, we're not going to see his play reflected in stats but he's one of the main reasons we shut down TCU and KSU's run game. I think we see his name somewhere on a All Big 12 list this year. On a side note, I'm very excited about a future DL that would have Sweat-Coburn-Ojomo potentially starting with young athletic freaks like Broughton and hopefully Collins behind them. We're starting to recruit size and athleticism like LSU and Bama.

  9. Oddly, Tarp looks like the idiot in that exchange. What difference does it make if she hasn't been a big Aggie fan for decades and connected to generations of Aggie losers? Aggies see themselves as some sort of elite, exclusive club association with which confers great honor and dignity to club members. I guess the parents of their players who become Aggie fans after their sons choose College Station are also somehow inferior and not actual members of the club. Hell, MuthaHustla is a better Texas fan and booster than 90% of us who graduated from UT. Welcome to the club. I'm honored to include you. Same goes for any Texan who likes the horns and the Mexicans south of the border who have adopted us. I want to be the team of the people.

  14. Easily the best basketball game I've ever attended. The crowd was deafening-that was also the loudest event I've ever attended. We pre-gamed at a cool, 100-year old bar with their fans who were a lot of fun-bought us drinks and asked how could we stand living in such a liberal city, LOL. We had floor seats which were actually below the court level, so we could only see the heads and shoulders of the players. I would stand up but this attendant would make me sit down-weird, but she made Purdue fans sit down, too. The arena was outstanding. Lots of Horns down, so I had fun waving to all of their fans as they exited with four seconds left in the game. All in all, it was awesome. I'll post pics from the game tomorrow. Hook 'em!

ISU fan: Didn't you see our last game??? We suck way more and will lose. UT fan: Are you f'n kidding me? Our coach does ____ and ___ to suck. Eat shit and die stupid ISU fan...

  23. Neither are any of the other things that republicans are screaming about. “Socialism” means total state or collective ownership of the means of production, as opposed to private ownership. “Welfare” or “entitlements” for the olds, poor and sick and needy? Not socialist. Fire departments, cops, EMTs, public roads? Not socialist. Voter education efforts, public research funding, public television and radio? Not socialist. Subsidizing agriculture or industry, “bailouts” in times of trouble, even? Nope, not socialist. Emergency disaster funding and management? Not socialist. Public schools? Not socialist. State protection of banks and financial infrastructure? Not socialist. Regulations that don’t involve government owning the means of production? Nope, nope and nope! You can argue that any of these functions are not the proper role of government but if you put those arguments in terms of “capitalist” vs. “socialist” terms, you don’t know what any of the words you just said actually mean.

  29. It amuses me greatly that after the World Series, it took two more attempts to find a public appearance that wasn't a complete embarrassment. If he had been booed in Tuscaloosa, he would have gone to a HS playoff game in Vidor next weekend in his continued quest for adulation.

  31. A few of us libtards have kicked around the idea of banding together to support a candidate in a race where our financial contributions would actually matter. We know that Texas turning blue will end the republican party as we know it and the shift to the left has already been felt in recent elections. We are finally living in a time where there is hope for Texas and the demographics support us winning NOW. The main impediment is lack of voter participation and organization. If people still have an interest in this, we can use this thread to discuss potential candidates, pick one, discuss progress and celebrate a blue victory. Some things to consider when selecting a candidate: 1. Is the person in a very competitive district? Bonus points for Texas House as we have a chance to flip it this cycle. Think of the huge loss of power for guys like Patrick and Abbott that this would create. 2. Does the person support policies that the surly liberal elite are likely to support? 3. Is this person running in or near a major Texas city so that people can get involved in other ways? 4. Does this person collect donations through Act Blue? 5. Would this person be willing to drink with surly posters if we organized a gathering of angry drunk liberals? So, my thought is that we can start making sales pitches for particular candidates below. We have plenty of time, so no need to decide in the near future. Once we have a person, know more about them, and the area where they are running, we can decide more. Please post here if you are interested so that we can gauge that. Also, give a write up for your favorite candidate and why they are worthy of Surly support.

  34. Already been said up thread, but intentional penalty makes no sense. What if it wasn't called? Unlikely, but that's a risk if it's your strategy. Take a knee on first and second to force them to use timeouts and then run clock. On third, if a td is there and obvious, take it instead of risking the kick. It was there, but we screwed up execution, so it went back to relying on the kick as the safest path. Everything else is some tinfoil hat speculation. The most obvious answer is usually the right one. We went for a td after burning as much clock as we could, messed up the formation, and went back to playing for a kick.

  41. If I am the underdog, I would go for 2 every time in end of game situations. Just like Patterson’s brain dead call. He was underdog, but he wanted to give Baylor another chance. Really? Only extenuating circumstance in Iowa state game was momentum. But, Iowa state coach knows which team has better kicker. Speaking of momentum, Iowa state had sooner defense on the ropes, so why not end it right there. 2 yards. He had confidence his offense could get 2. I think it’s a gutsy call.

  42. Was just now able to watch. Great execution down the stretch despite all of the whistles and stoppages. Awesome to see us sink those FTs like that. Baker had a couple really nice rebounds which was good to see since it's going to be a while before he's ready to consistently contribute in other areas. Coleman and Ramey both have a tendency to play too much hero ball, but I was extremely pleased to see that they avoided doing that when it mattered. We don't know how good Purdue really is; they lost a lot from last year and it's still November. We don't know how good we will be either. But damn it felt good to watch the Horns pull out a tough road win vs a ranked team, early season and all. Shaka has finally surrounded himself with top flight assistants, and the dividends are already being seen. Gotta grow from this and continue improving, but a really nice start to the season for the Horns. Hook em!
