  1. The good news is, Greg Davis posts on here as @closetojumping. That means we can influence the influencer.

  2. Herman should be fired right now for this.

  3. While I'm inclined to agree, I'll hold off until after Spring practice before I start freebasing kool-aid again. Make no mistake, though, I'll be ridiculously overconfident about the direction of this program by August of next year, even if we hire Greg Davis for OC and a hamster for DC, because I'm a Texas fan and I have nothing remotely resembling mental health.

  4. I think it's one thing to have an intellectual discussion about whether or not our sexual mores are repressed, outdated, paternalistic, etc. It's another thing to specifically advocate that the age of consent be lowered so that grown men can fuck teenage boys without repercussion.

  6. He's not asking Davis to call plays. He's just asking for advice. You guys are going to dislocate your shoulders from throwing your hands up in the air at every new development.

  7. You’re paying the guy for a year of performance irrespective of overall outcome, so your total exposure if everything goes careening sideways in 2020 is what? $4.35million? That’s if things don’t work out and if Harrell doesn’t leave for something else either way. It’s pretty light exposure for the UT athletic department. Why are y’all worried about it anyway? All we hear from Belmont is crowing about revenue. I like to see it get spent on shit that has a prayer of being productive.

  8. How so? Should it be off limits to utter the names of the President’s children? Because the professor did little more than that, and this manufactured Republican outrage is ludicrous. These assholes support locking children up in cages, yet are morally incensed at the mere mention of one kid’s name? Just more GOP self-righteous hypocrisy.

  11. agreed, and a good read. that said, i think the broader issue is that what trump/his supporters/this administration is currently doing is not even acknowledging the house's role in the entire checks-and-balances system. everyone wants to compare this to clinton, nixon, johnson, but this has never ever happened before. the stonewalling, the press conferences, the fox news spew - it's all basically saying the entire situation is a sham, and we're not going to play along, and we're basically going to pretend it's not there. for all the bitching and moaning about things being unfair to the republicans (yawn), the deck is completely stacked against the dems here. they're getting accused of not having fact witnesses, because none of them will testify. anyone who does gets harrassed/intimidated/threatened. the dems are moving slowly and methodically, yet being accused of moving too quickly. if they're moving so quickly, why is trump insisting that it should move quicker? i admit, it's a pretty genius move to ignore the entire thing, because: 1. the facts aren't on their side 2. congress has shown they're basically powerless against this type of defense 3. most of the public has already made up their mind anyway 4. like the end of wargames, there is no winning. if they do nothing, trump will continue to abuse his office, and fuck with the election. if they continue with this, well, he's still doing shit, rudy is in ukraine, and the senate will acquit anyway. yesterday, someone on cnn was talking about rudy, and if he's actually being paid, and if so, by who? and if not, is that an illegal contribution? and if not, does he enjoy privilege? the thing is, he'll claim privilege even if he doesn't have it. they'll never show any type of transactions that shows what he's up to, because we can't even get the fucking financials or tax returns from trump. there are holes in our system that trump has been abusing for decades, and now he's abusing them in the oval office. he's appealing the shit out of everything, hoping the supreme court will bail him out, but it'll take months/years to even get that far. and even then, i guarantee you he'll say fuck off. and speaking of the courts, some people want to wait for the rulings on mcgahn, and bolton, and kupperman, and mulvaney, and who cares. literally, who fucking cares? i mean, i would like to hear what they have to say. but people need to come to the realization that if all of the above actually sit down, testify, and tell the truth, that he will STILL GET FUCKING ACQUITTED IN THE SENATE AND BE ALLOWED TO MEDDLE IN THE FUCKING ELECTION. sorry, i haven't capitalized a letter in over 3 years, but enough is enough. i'm moving to positano.

  14. Let me translate this for sane people: Republicans acting like unhinged assholes doesn't merit any mention, because "unhinged assholes" is their brand. A Dem acting like an unhinged asshole is "new and noteworthy." Which (and hold on, this is the cool punchline) means that Democrats are the problem with American society and government.

  15. No, see, when the GOP says at the very beginning of a presidential administration that their goal is to block everything, and spends 8 years investigating, well, everything, that's just sound government by people who love America. But when anyone else does it, based on glaring, obvious, and shameful criminal activity, resulting in [checks notes] at least 89 indictments and 24 criminal convictions....including people utterly unconnected to Trump like [checks notes again] his campaign manager....well, that's a "partisan witch hunt! The libs are out to get him!" Lies are truth these days. And lies are winning. It ain't even close.

  18. Super K on TFB is saying Harrell is very likely going to accept the Texas offer which is around 2 million per year. He’s waiting for a USC counter but including taxes they would have to nearly eclipse Heltons salary to match

  20. We've always wanted our program to spend the Scrooge McDuck piles of money that it's sitting on. Now they're rumored to be willing to do it so why would we complain. It's not like something good is going to come out of not spending that money.

  21. Coordinators usually get to pick a guy they want to bring along, and then they collaborate with the HC in regard to the rest of the staff and support staff. Also, what a fucking hideous piece of shit this thread has been for a few pages. RomaVicta looms about this thread like a gargoyle statue, emotionless, convictionless, but omnipresent and probably smarter than you. Greg Davis is no big deal except for the fact that he brings nothing but failure and dated input to the table and Coach Fuckface values his advice as though he's an uncle. SydneyCarton is a moth to that flame every time. Then there's no new info and a fluff speculation story from Nahlin. And a whole bunch of posts from guys that I have on ignore. Christ, somebody please do some fucking thing. Hermancipate us from this ineptitude and ennui before we collectively transmogrify into the fucking UT offense.

  23. I coach college baseball and my 3 year old son has begun to catch on to things that go on at the ball field. He sees me talk to players when things go wrong, etc. Last night I was throwing him passes with his Nerf football. He dropped about 5 in a row, which is a lot as he usually catches 1-2 out of 3 or so. He came back and said “I need the coach to talk to me” so he walked over to the corner of the room and stood there with his back to me for a minute or two then ran another route and caught the pass. He came running back and flipped me the ball. I asked him what the coach told him and he screamed at the top of his lungs “catch the god damn ball!” Proud dad moment. 24. Maybe he is just angling for a job in law enforcement? "Mr. Zimmerman, what are your qualifications for this position?" "I once shot and killed an unarmed black man..." "Promising, promising. But times have changed and so has the department. We don't police like that anymore. Contemporary officers are part ambass--" "... and then I sued his family for $100M." "Can you start today?"

  26. Today was one of the hardest days. I’ve never had to have a dog put down before but this morning we had to put our girl Kat down. She was 14 and in bad shape. She was a good girl that never complained. Even the one time at age 12 the 2 car garage door snapped and fell on her. I’m glad all dogs go to heaven. Rip Kat

  29. i know everyone on the left wants to keep it lean and mean - and in a normal world, that would make the most sense. keep it easy for voters to digest and understand. but they need to start pushing the fact that it doesn't matter what they do, the senate won't convict. most of america still doesn't fully grasp this. therefore it's all about the court of public opinion, which is why trump keeps touting the perfection of a single phone call. keeping it narrow actually helps him, because it makes the case look thin (which is what they ran with yesterday - wafer thin). forces the public into a binary choice about one phone call and a handful of witnesses. so fuck it, go the other way. charge him with the whole truckload - murder, conspiracy, conduct unbecoming...but seriously. emoluments is a slam dunk. obstruction of justice and congress are two separate things. witness intimidation. drag it out because there are so fucking many. go 8 or 10 or 12. even if they're not all lay-ups. you know how stupid the gop would look knocking down 5-6 articles, while not paying attention to another 3-4? "well, this one is baseless and silly." "so does that mean the other 9 are legit?!?" get in front of cameras and explain that. hey guys, sorry, but this is complicated. he's violated so many laws, he continues to do it faster than we can count, so this may take a minute. the list is fucking long, stand by. why not? it's all theater at this point anyway.

  35. I get it, the real reason I pay for it is to post on here. I feel like it’s my contribution to the board when others post info from other sites that I get to enjoy for free. Now the people that post and live/die on the 995er boards are an entirely different breed that I will never understand. Imagine being completely loyal to Ketchum and taking the big ol bag of melted saltwater taffy’s word as gospel
