So last night my wife walks in the house and says there's a strange noise coming from across the street. I go out and listen and it's a stray cat making long moaning sounds. I say, "Sounds like it's a cat in heat." Her response, "How can it be in heat, it's so cold outside?"17 points

There is no course of events in which the Republicans are going to say, yeah, that's fair. The Democrats voted for impeachment. The Republicans say the impeachment was rushed. If the Democrats delayed, the Republicans would say, as many are saying currently, "we have an election coming up in x months...let the voters decide." If the Democrats delayed until after the election, the Republicans would say, "the voters have already decided." This is not a discussion on governance that is being held in good faith. It is posturing, and nothing more.13 points

Today was a very good day. The fact that we signed a top ten class with no OC and recently named DC is amazing. Not to mention the disaster this season was. Can you imagine the absolute shit show this would have been with Strong? He would have started recruiting on Monday. Kudus to Herman. Give him some credit and two middle fingers. Now, coach them with the right schemes....(Please God). Happy Bijanukka. Hook'em10 points

I hate the son of a bitch for creating the ANF deal, which was part of his calculated plan to absolutely wipe Iowa State off the face of the planet. He was very public and outspoken in his belief that the state of Iowa couldn't have two competitive programs, so he set out to destroy Iowa State not only on the field, but then off the field. ANF (America Needs Farmers) was a helmet sticker he and the U of I started using in the 1980's during the farm crisis. It looked like a great act of awareness and charity, but it was also a very calculated move to win the support of Iowa's ag community, which had traditionally backed ISU because - you know - we're an actual ag college that actually does research and development into products and methods that improve farmers bottom lines. It worked. Fry would go on to beat ISU 15 consecutive years, and the ISU football team became a complete and total afterthought. I mean, you have to tip the hat a little bit to the marketing genius, but it doesn't take away how slimy it was. By the time the 90's rolled around, the helmet stickers went away and it was mostly forgot about. Fry finally lost to ISU in 1998, and that game became the catalyst to his retirement at the end of that season. Since that point, the two programs have become much more competitive, and ISU's fanbase has exploded. In 2011, in the midst of one of the ag economy's biggest booms (and a massive increase in interest in ISU sports), Iowa resurrected ANF. At this point, their motivation was obvious. Farmers were not hurting. Not even a little. But the ANF merch sold like hot cakes, and Hawk fans patted themselves on the back about how they supported farmers, while simultaneously making "Moo U" rips at Iowa State. Wide Right Natty Lite responded with "AHF: Actually Helping Farmers" shirts. Hawk fans lost their minds, and took grave offense. How dare they point out this fact! The U of I cent a cease and desist to WRNL to get them to stop making the shirts. It was obvious protected parody, but this was after WRNL had sold to SB Nation, who controlled the merch side of things, and SB Nation wilted in the face of U of I's massive legal budget. The ANF thing is still a massive bone of contention in the ISU/Iowa rivalry - especially for ISU educated farmers, like myself. ISU fans like to point out that it's nothing more than a marketing gimmick that in reality does little for the people it claims to promote, and that Iowa State is an unquestioned leader in agricultural development. Iowa fans either get indignant about being called out on this, or respond (correctly) "you should have thought of it first". So, I'm done rambling. Fry was a dick from my point of view, but the general consensus was he was a pretty good guy. He deserves credit for integrating the SWC. He was definitely a character, and he was one hell of a coach. College football is a big deal in Iowa, and it's 100% because of Hayden Fry - even if you're a Clone.7 points

I reverse engineered 247s personal composite score once. It's close to this but I might misremember some of this. They take your percentile rank from each service assuming x recruits (I believe 3,000 recruits). So position 300=0.900 From there, the 247 rank counts double. Then, instead of a simple average it's the root of the average of the squares, which basically makes your lower ranks hurt you more than simple average. Which is why say, Rivals can promote a player 30 spots and their composite will jump drastically if Rivals was their low score. The composite class scores are from composite player rankings, not team ranking composites.6 points

And to us educated, non-mouth-breathing moderates! Today is a great day for this country. Today, the people of the United States of America have officially taken a stand against the corrupt, immoral, incompetent, failed-businessman piece-of-shit in the Oval Office.6 points

Yeah, that's why y'all want to build a $20 billion wall to protect us from Central American women who want to come here and bus tables. And that's why y'all have spent trillions of dollars on a War on Drugs to lock up 15-year-old brown people in a for-profit prison system to make sure weed isn't available to your white kids in their private schools (Narrator: it still is). You're completely full of shit on every possible level. You don't give a fuck about money. You only care that your boy is in trouble. You don't even care that he actually did everything he's accused of. Shame on all of you.6 points

If we went 11-1 and Herman gave the double birds, no one here would care. If we went 12-0 and Neal Brown said Herman was an asshole, no one would care. If we won a Big 12 championship and Herman seemed awkward and weird in interviews, no one would give a shit. You don't like him because he's losing. And that's fine. That's how it's supposed to be. But you all sound like the Boston fucking media with all of these side stories about him, as if you have to justify your disdain. If he sucks next year, he'll get fired. If he doesn't, you'll stop giving a shit about his character. The incessant hand wringing about his personality isn't going to improve your station in life until then.6 points

My wife phones me on the way home from work Friday afternoon, "My car is almost out of gas. It's beeping at me and I think I'm going to run out." Me: Uh... why don't you stop and get gas? Wife: It's really freaking me out. I"m afraid it's going to run out. It went from telling me that I had 40 miles to go and then it just changed to 25 miles to go, and now it's just beeping at me. It's never done this before. Me: Where are you? Wife: Pulling into the driveway at the house. Important side note: we live about one-half mile from a gas station. It is literally right down our street. You don't even have to turn to get there, other than turning into the gas station. She also had to pass at least ten other fucking gas stations on the way from her office to the house.6 points

My dad let me take home his old Remington Nylon 66 over Thanksgiving. 1st gun I ever shot growing up and it's still fun as hell for me to shoot. Told me he bought it with his dad in '66 or '67. Got it home and cleaned it for the first time....ever? Anyway, just feels good to have the 1st gun I ever shot back in my safe.5 points

Man, fuck all these news organizations who gave Trump such a prominent platform all these years. After his housing discrimination cases and his reaction to the the Central Park jogger case they should’ve realized what a racist piece of dogshit he is. He should’ve gotten the Jimmy the Greek or Michael Richards treatment decades ago. Why the hell was that interview necessary?5 points
