I’ve mentioned before my dad has Alzheimer’s and I watch him. He raised me on Cowboys football. We watch games every Sunday and he is losing the ability to follow the game. When this came on, he sparked up with tears in his eyes and was talking about the early 90’s Cowboys teams with a sparkle in his eye. He said Jimmy was way overdue for the HOF! We then reminisced about collecting all the Cowboy football cards when I was a kid. He’d take me to the card shop as a reward, for good report cards ha. It was amazing to have my dad spot on coherent for a while. Sports are so much more than a game. Now I’m looking at my old sports cards and crying like a little bitch with nostalgia haha.24 points

I was so happy for a while there, like a praying mantis getting laid and not knowing it's about to have its head bitten off by the same bitch.14 points

Beef bourguignon, Julia’s recipe. Served with dutch oven bread and Plugra butter. One of my very favorite meals. I usually make it once a year. Letting everyone get to know each other while warming. Plated. Tonight’s effort did not disappoint. Triple-sieving the sauce kicks it up a notch.9 points

You're watching a Houston NFL team blow a playoff lead and the most relevant comparison you can make is a 1974 college game?9 points

Hell yeah. That's awesome that they were able to tell him live on the air. Now put him in the Ring of Honor, you Arkansas piece of trash.8 points

Literally no defensive back coaches this. You run faster facing forward. If you look back you lose speed. You keep your eyes on the WR and play their hands. The only time you look back for the ball is when you are in a control position. With younger players they are not going to be in a control position that often. It is coached that way at every level of football.8 points

Last drink on January 12, 2019. Been reading y'alls' words since TOS - every time there is a new post. In fact, I read the entire shaggy thread in one sitting a few years ago. I'm not doing AA or any program, just determined not to drink today and again not tomorrow. When thoughts of missing drinking creep into my head, I make a point of fast forwarding to where that drink will eventually end. Thanks for the assistence y'all have given without even knowing.7 points

Bullshit. The Ring of Honor is a big fucking deal that's bigger than Jerry Jones and his desire to get credit for the 3 Super Bowls. He belongs up there with Landry. The beauty of this is now Jerry looks even more petty for not doing it earlier.5 points

Not sure if possible, he may have broken it off in Houston's ass.5 points

Both the liberals and the conservatives are correct in the root causes. It's both cultural (conservatives) and economic (liberals). There needs to be more support for the working class in terms of education, health care, housing, etc. However, if you're going to drop out of high school in the 9th grade and/or be a junkie, there isn't much public policy can do for you at that point. This baby doesn't have a chance in this world:5 points

I don't care if you're the admin -- it's amazingly cunty to post this stuff during a game like this. If a Houston fan did this during a Cowboys playoff game, y'all would lose your damned minds.4 points

This is fucking absurd. I was a peon at a tech start-up in my early/mid-20’s. We were blowing up and growing so fast that it was hard to keep up. I show up one day and one of the higher ranking guys tells me “hey, uh, yeah, that guy over at that desk? yeah, we just hired him. he works for you now. “ and that’s how I became a manager. No training. No say in who reported to me. Just “here you go”. That guy they had reporting to me? SydneyCarton, for fucks sake. There’s no way they interviewed him. I think he was delivering something to the front desk, asked what was going on there, said he’d be interested in getting a job there and the receptionist hired him on the spot and sent him in to report in a VP’s office. Herman’s conducting a less sophisticated process than that.4 points

Been on Surly since it was Shaggy, but never found my way to this forum until last week. Figured I’d share my set up. I’ve been playing for around 12 years. Started with the pretty rough Epiphone LP then got the Taylor ~7 years ago. Just got the Strat in August ‘19. Can’t believe I was playing the LP for the past decade. Upgrading to the strat has made me a significantly better player. It’s a Mexistrat but I’m planning on upgrading to a vintage 80’s American-made soon. Also got the Boss Katana MKII after playing on the digital Marshall for the past decade. Loving the Katana and Mexistrat, but this is my budget setup for now. Gonna upgrade to a Fender Deluxe Reverb (or something similar) soon after I replace my strat. Looking forward to keeping up with y’all! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk4 points
