  1. No, the insinuation is that blacks should shut the fuck up about our racist criminal justice system because blacks kill blacks too. Just another in a long line of "shut up and dribble."

  2. We talked about the Operation America Strong flyovers as wastes of money, already planned and budgeted for the cancelled airshows, pilots needing to log the hours, etc. What I learned yesterday is that WE THE PEOPLE need them. Family and I went loaded in the truck and headed out yesterday to see the Blue Angels fly over the hospital at which my boys were born. Thought about doing the hospital parking garage roof but wanted to leave that for any workers and patients who might want to use it. So we went to a nearby giant parking lot. The day before, the parking lot was empty. For the flyover, it was PACKED. Driving around the area, we saw thousands and thousands of people in our little corner of DFW standing in every parking lot, along the frontage roads… everywhere. I was shocked; I had no idea that so many people would be out to see a 30 second flyover. In our parking lot, there were very few masks, but everyone was very respectful of distances and there wasn’t a single cough or sneeze. 83 degrees and full sun. We hung out in the bed of my truck and jammed some tunes. I may have had a cocktail. High school kids and others were seeing each other for the first time in a long while but couldn’t hug or anything. The Olds were there in force and gave zero fucks. People everywhere were genuinely having fun. It was like tailgating in a parking lot before a concert, except with distancing. Then the flyover. I’d never seen them live before. Nothing fancy, just in formation. People started cheering. Then, a “USA! USA! USA!” chant started. My kids joined in and were waving little American flags. Everyone there was One for those 30 seconds. After being locked down, the community was outside in the sunshine together. We’re all in this together, after all. To everyone there, it was clearly a needed break from the worry and uncertainty of the past few months. Anyways, some pics. Empty parking lot now packed: Flyover: Making my kids' week:

  3. Thanks for the unsolicited mansplaining but I know the difference. Despite the fact that histrionics isn’t derived from uterus, who gets tagged with that pejorative more often, men or women? The fact that we have the most emotionally unstable assholes like Trump and Lindsay Graham and Brett Kavanaugh bleeding out their screaming maws yet any woman who shows anger or passion is histrionic or too emotional to lead is absolutely sexist and everyone knows it. But it is fun to watch you white knight for the dumbest, meanest, most worthless piece of shit that posts on this board. Your devolution has been very entertaining.

  4. I love people like this poster. So because black people in the inner cities get killed by black people, we successful blacks that made it out to the suburbs should be ok getting killed jogging in our neighborhoods. Got you. So my inlaws(white) were house shopping once. We are looking at a house that was listed and empty. 4 car garage with pool around back. Father in law wants to see it so he just walks in the back gate. I start walking away. He laughs and asks why dont I come check it out. This video is why sir. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

  5. I don't, because the context matters. It's a smackdown of the FBI actually investigating and prosecuting extremely and obviously corrupt and illegal acts by the President's friends. This, and the SCOTUS ruling overturning the Bridgegate convictions today, are a pretty clear message that the law doesn't apply to the politically-connected. I'll applaud an FBI smackdown when the FBI gets slapped for fucking with regular people. I'm not holding my breath for that.

  6. We made a deal with the government that we'd pause our lives for a while as they got their shit together. Now we're arguing among ourselves about whether or not to open back up, but what has the government done with these eight weeks we gave them? An incremental increase in testing. That appears to be it. So virtually nothing. Instead of arguing amongst ourselves, everyone should be mad at everyone in elected offices. It shouldn't be a political issue, but we're all fucking morons. And by politicizing the issue, elected officials can continue to hide from their duty to serve us.

  8. Seriously, STFU. there are constantly stop the violence marches, community outreach, even law school programs that work with black on black crime. Lots of anger as well just because you don't pay attention or give a fuck doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Tired of reading this racist ass shit anytime people want to deflect from bull shit. And same to the fucker you're quoting. Yes, I said it.

  9. Somebody tell that pinhead Blake if he wants to play that stupid aggy game, since 2000 Texas owns aggy 9-3. Not to mention in his cherry-picked 30 game stretch, aggy was sanctioned for cheating so much they were bitch-slapped with bowl bans, tv bans, and forever shitstains on their fake motto. Not to mention they lost their war against a woodpile. Screw those retarded morons like him. 27-25 mofos.

  10. It's absolutely gotten worse over time. It's just so easy to find thousands of like minded dipshits if you choose to do so today...it's called the internet. Back in the day those morons didn't have their voice amplified like they do today. In the end, it will likely be the end of us. Not saying that's our lifetime but that's where shit is headed. When facts are easily cast aside as 'fake news' we are all fucked. It looks like many of first victims will be a large swath of deplorables...

  12. These last few pages on NY tax law are stupid. The people I know that went are contract workers that work all over the country and know about paying out of state taxes. They made 2x-3x their normal rates plus all expenses covered and went mostly for the money, not some overriding sense of “volunteerism”. There are definitely some that went out of a sense of duty I’m sure, but every state with an income tax imposes tax on out of state workers. It’s not like it’s some crazy anomaly.

  20. Dude, shut the fuck up. Your nakedly political grievance about the taxes, which doesn't belong here, has already been proven to be full of shit. Further, you honesty think a doctor or nurse or whoever signing up to run into a hot zone is really going to be thinking about the possibility of a temporary, marginal tax increase that they may not even see given the state's deduction? You think that's going to make them rethink? You're a dumb fucking child whining about politics on the no politics thread. Stop.

  21. My lack of mental faculties has been thoroughly discussed on this site. But I do love how the crowd that's all about 100% freedom is about 0% responsibility. If your conscious choice not to wear a mask, in spite of it being the recommended standard of behavior by every health official of note, causes you to infect someone who you otherwise wouldn't have, resulting in their serious illness or death, why shouldn't you be held responsible for the consequences of your actions? You have the freedom to go out and shoot your rifle. Hell, I do so regularly, will probably do so this weekend. But if you do so indiscriminately, without bothering to ascertain whether people might be downrange - which all experts in the field agree is outside of the standard of care for such activity -- you'll be held legally responsible when your bullet hits someone in the chest. Fail to adhere to the reasonable standard of care, resulting in a foreseeable injury to someone, you will be held legally liable. And we have strict liability for many kinds of things (e.g., worker's comp -- if the employer is even 1% responsible, they're on the hook, or maybe you've heard of the "one bite rule" -- if your dog has bitten someone before, you're strictly liable if the dog bites someone again). It's a public policy decision. Or, you know, you could just not be a dick and wear a fucking mask.

  22. Not really sure what all of this "let's have a conversation" is supposed to mean. We're a republic because we're larger than a village and thus have too many people to make direct democracy work. So, we elect a bunch of people who are supposed to figure out what to do in situations like this. They're supposed to have personnel and protocols in place to weigh the costs and benefits of various alternatives and determine the best course of action. But nearly every place Republicans are in charge, they've largely decided to wing it. To the extent they really care about anything, they've been motivated by helping businesses, but they don't even really want to think through what would help businesses. It's just too much work for them and apparently thinking hurts their brains, so they just decided to go with a shitload of wishful thinking. The answer to the problem wasn't going to be easy, but it was always simple: Lock down for a time, use that time to surge hospital capacity, the production of necessary supplies and equipment, and test and trace capabilities, and develop effective logistics to ensure that everything gets delivered to those who need it. While locked down, the government could backstop everything: suspend mortgages and rent, guarantee payroll, etc. A real testing and tracing system would give people confidence that, when things re-opened, the risk of going back out in the world would be minimal and more federal aid at that point would've been unnecessary. Of course, that all would have required competent messaging from our officials explaining why we need to lock down and what that time will give us the opportunity to do, and real diligence from government officials at all levels to make sure all that shit got done. However, Republican officials in most states are simply incapable of doing anything with competence and the ones that are capable of competence recognize that actually doing their job competently would put the lie to their decades of propaganda about how government can't do anything right. So this is what we got. The closest we've come to accomplishing any of what we needed to do while locked down is that we've ramped up hospital capacity (though it's not clear if we've done enough) and established a black market by which cities, states, and hospitals can acquire a fraction of the supplies they need at extortionate costs, which go into the pockets of politically connected GOP donors. There's been no real effort to establish a capable testing and tracing system that would allow us to safely re-open in phases. You still can't find any fucking hand sanitizer on store shelves. Nevertheless, we're trying to YOLO this shit and using the threat of cutting off unemployment benefits to force retail and service workers back to jobs in dangerous conditions, in the hope that business will just magically return to normal for everyone if we pretend that it's all done. But very few people are actually going to pretend. Many of us are going to stay in our homes most to all of the time. So those stores and restaurants that now have to re-open because they've got to pay rent are going to be incurring normal operating costs but only bringing in a fraction of the revenue they need, because most people don't feel safe to go out. And those people who do go out are going to spread covid not just among themselves but also to those we've forced back to work, many of whom live with at-risk family members, and to the medical professionals who inevitably have to treat them. So we're going to see a new spike in cases, when it happens everyone will panic again, and we'll probably end up shutting shit back down again for an indeterminate length of time. And we'll probably repeat the same stupid pattern until a vaccine is produced in sufficient quantities to inoculate most people. This slapdash bullshit doesn't help anyone because it's not a choice between keeping everyone healthy and keeping the economy healthy. If we had done it right, we could've endured a few months of pain and then recovered relatively quickly. Instead, we're going to see a death toll in the hundreds of thousands and the economy is going to sink into a depression. All because Republicans don't want anyone to realize that anything better was actually possible.

  30. Jesus, we still haven't gotten the actual court filing yet, but early reporting is that DOJ is saying it had concluded that Flynn's interview by the FBI was "untethered to, and unjustified by, the FBI's counterintelligence investigation into Mr. Flynn" and that the interview on January 24, 2017 was "conducted without any legitimate investigative basis." Cheers to anastasia, he gets his """justice""" and a person described by a sitting judge as a traitor gets to walk scot-free. Just try not to forget the context while celebrating the miscarriage of justice: His goal was subversion of US policy of a sitting US president, literally acting against the national interest abroad. And the trump admin knew about it and did nothing about it. Now in the eyes of the law, it doesn't look like anything at all to them. Fuck everything.

  33. When Mizzou and aggy left the B12, their combined athletics department budgets were less than that of UT Austin, so neither school was considered a significant player in financial discussions by the media partners, or by many inside the conference. For years, Mizzou and aggy had irritated others (OU, Texas, Nebraska, etc) because the schools simply refused to make badly needed capital investments necessary to help broadcast partners market games involving them, or even help themselves recruit better and compete at a higher level nationally. In the case of Mizzou, every Big12 athletics director was unhappy with them because their lack of investing in their product had gotten so bad their field itself was a hazard to the health of visiting players. Remember in 2011 Mizzou had 7 home games. During 2011, three teams (Mizzou, Texas, Tech) saw their leading running back suffer season-ending knee injuries because the turf was so bad. In 2011, Mizzou was not held in high regard by Big12 athletics directors, or by many B12 fans (certainly not by many B12 running backs). Mizzou was no great loss to anyone in the B12.

I hope his family sues them and destroys them with lifelong litigation, judgements and garnishments. I hope they end up living under a bridge with rats. Rats are more deserving of life than those two pathetic, redneck assholes.

  35. "Back door" implies some sort of bait-and-switch deception. That's obviously not what happened. You can be upset that NY didn't make a special exception for the workers, that's fine. But this isn't a case of being promised one thing and delivered another. I would guess almost all of them fully expected to be taxed on their earnings by the letter of the law and came anyway.

  40. I just quoted this in the re-opening thread in a different context, but it applies here as well: "Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect." I know you don't think this decision will lead to the FBI more equitably investigating and prosecuting violations of the law. In fact, it's a pretty explicit signal that politicians are not who they should be investigating, regardless of their conduct, and to focus on the criminals who matter: the little people. That's why, to the extent a rebuke of their behavior is warranted, I don't applaud it in this case.

  45. I lost my mom to cancer of the liver the first of this month. She was healthy for 92 out of 93 years of her life and it only got real rough the last five months. She was a sweet-hearted woman who put family first. She paid for funeral services for a few aunts and uncles and a cousin or two who went young because she could. We found a little note in her papers and it had a one dollar bill paper-clipped to it and it said " This is a dollar that I found in my La Hoya savings when I used to save $1, $5 and $10 dollars for college. Wow. I made it, thanks to God. I now save bigger bills of $20s and $100s etc. Keep this dollar for good luck. There are 6 of us sisters so we photocopied it and the note and made it into a photograph and buried the little note and dollar with her in a little box where we put other keepsakes, including a sweet love letter from my dad before they were married. We loved our momma and she made us good strong women who believed in contributing to family by being rock solid and willing to take on whatever popped up in our lives. We found $545 dollars in her dresser drawers in her room and in her purse, mostly in the $100 and $20 denominations just as she said she would save. She had money in the bank but as a depression baby, she wanted to have cash on hand as well in little separate places. We learned so much from her and I will miss all her gardening advice and sweet natured teasing. God speed, Momma. You were a really good lady.
