  2. I am not certain the best place to put this, but protesting down here in DC this week has been such a tremendously good experience. Seeing people protest both Dotard and police brutality right here in front of the White House is a powerful experience. I can freely admit I have enjoyed white privilege over the years and most of it was when I didn't even realize I had it. I think all of the white people who use this board have at one time or another not even paid any attention to our privilege. I will never spend a single day of my life fearing being shot at because of my skin color. I will never know that kind of fear and that it is solely because I was born white and someone who wasn't will is a sad indictment on our country. That we have a racist moron who cares not one iota about any of the black people out there protesting says a lot about the state of things. Marching today from the White House to the Lincoln Memorial was an experience I will not forget. You could feel the hurt inside of the people who spoke at the base of that monument. You could feel the anger during our march for how black people are treated like second class citizens. One of the women speaking today, who should go into politics one day because she has a powerful and eloquent voice, told all of the white people there to "Use your privilege to do something good that will help others who can't speak for themselves." When you hear something like that I think it makes you want to keep on pushing and keep helping folks out who no longer have a voice to be heard like Eric Garner or Breonna Taylor or George Floyd. I have seen the best in the human spirit here and it is very refreshing. I'll have kids one day and they'll be mixed and I'll be able to tell them that my lily white ass did not just sit on the sidelines and cheer on my fellow citizens in their fight for equality. I got out and participated and will keep doing so in whatever way I possibly can.

  4. You snowflake whiny bitch. I've tried to engage you on several occasions to understand your point and you do not reply. Your limited utility here is to randomly post videos to other people who think for you. Not everyone is going to agree with your shitty points. You may not have noticed, but society is tired of letting shit heels like you have your opinion blasted out while the good people remain silent. If you can't defend your position, that's not anyone else's issue. Get a thicker skin, listen, learn, get yourself out of your media/opinion bubble on YouTube.

  6. I’m just sitting over here, minding my own business, and then I see some race just sitting on the sidewalk. So obviously I run over to pick it up, but it keeps getting away. Turns out Pancho has that race on a hook tied to a fishing pole and keeps pulling it away from me. Then I fall down and split my pants and everyone laughs at me. All because Pancho is a god damn race baiter.

  7. Lol “The homeles [sic] people we invited took away all the food at the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone,” the person tweeted. “We need more food to keep the area operational. please if possible bring vegan meat substitutes, fruits, oats, soy products, etc. – anything to help us eat.”

  9. The fucking governor invited him, because of course he did. It seriously never fucking ends around here. I just can't with this world anymore. Just fuck everything. I'm pretty sure I died a few years ago and what I'm experiencing is The Bad Place, like the TV show. He sure as fuck better not be allowed at the BOK Center, because it was officially shut down for the rest of 2020. There is not a single legitimate reason why he should be allowed to pack 20,000 people when every other act was cancelled. Send him to Oral Roberts' arena out south, far from me, where he can be adored by all the fake christians. He's every bit the fraud as the televangelists.

  14. Thanks again fellas. The hospital where I work officially ran out of vents today and we are over ICU capacity and into overflow. The whole state is seeing a huge spike in hospitalizations and deaths. We lost a 42 year old female patient today. My office is next door to our palliative care nurse. I had to go take a walk. The sobs of her teenage daughters was too much. It’s been a really shitty couple of weeks.

  15. It helps when the media demonizes people for protesting a shutdown and glorifies 50x that many people protesting other things. I don’t have a problem with either, but I hate disingenuous bullshit

  16. Well boys and girls, it looks like ol' Sean RomaVicta must respond to his president's call. When POTUS personally fingers grabs chooses you, it's plain unAmerican to turn him down. Make room GR and Johnny Sack, I'm back in Bunker Bitch's favor. My president needs me! To wit: To me! That's a big deal. Donald was icing his thumbs between tweets and looked to Jared, his top man for reaching out to special patriots like me. "Jared, what's it like to rest your cheek between those beautiful mounds of--" "Mr. President, sir, Dad--" "Never call me, Dad, jewboy." "Yes sir, we agreed we'd wouldn't ask that question anymore." "Fake news. But I know the answer already. It's Sean RomaVicta I'm really concerned about. A man came up to me. Muscular...hairy arms. Muscles. Beautiful muscles. I was whistling Zipadee Doo Dah, but I stopped because this manly character had tears all over his face. He said, Sir, I'm Johnny Sack. You're doing a great job. But there's a patriot we need to communicate with. I stopped rocking back and forth on my heels and leaned at a 35 degree angle to listen more closely." "How do you know it was 35 degrees, Dad, er sir?" "My uncle taught degrees at MIT. I know more than most of the Degreeologists. That's what the D in PhD stands for. Most people don't know that. What's it like to---" "Mr. President." "Okay, Judas" "Wrong Jew. I'm Jared. I married your daughter, Ivanka." "Don't rub it in. Anyway, Johnny is crying. He's a good man. Loyal as a...as a-" "Dog, sir?" "No, something else. More like a South Carolina senator. Anyway, we need this Sean RomaVicta guy. He's one of my favorites. Contact him. Get back to me. I'll be in the bunker. Inspecting the bunker." "Yessir!" How can I say no?

  17. lol think about how fucking triggered @Johnny Sack and the rest of the trumpkins are watching these statues come down and these institutions being re-named.

  18. I love when that quote gets thrown out. If you want to rename something or get rid of statues to traitors, that's not denying history. Those people still existed. They are in history books. Their history will endure. But we don't have to keep honoring them with the names of buildings and statues in their honor. Especially those which were done in Jim Crow times to give a middle finger to the Civil Rights movement.

  19. I was born in the south, grew up in the south, and I am "of" the south. From early childhood, I heard the heritage/history arguments in favor of the Confederate flag. But lately it occurs to me that this country isn't going to get to where it needs to be until the average southern man sees the stars and bars along the same lines as he sees Nazi flags. They're symbols of people who fought in favor of genocide, slavery, and murder. I don't think there's much of a distinction between the systems they represent. I'm kind of shocked that NASCAR (!!) would take such a step.... but it gives me hope.

  20. It’s going to be expensive as a motherfucker. That’s the price we pay for not starting on this and major road projects 30 years ago. The available land will only go down and the price go up if we try to do this after another 2 million people move here. Transportation is the number one critical issue facing Austin over the next 10 years. I hope we get it right, and I include major road improvements in this as well. I grew up here and hate that my personal version of old Austin is gone. I loved the early 90s when I was a kid. But the reality is that we are a big city now and getting bigger by the day. The current Austin clusterfuck of the worst traffic for a city our size in the nation was created by people trying to hold onto the past. Time to start thinking about what Austin in 2040 will look like. For starters, it will have 4 million people in the area.

  21. Luby's from both perspectives, as a customer and then a manager. The Killeen massacre happened exactly one week before my first interview with Luby's, in fall 1991. I was an older college student finishing a no-name degree paid for by a state agency in Austin. I grew up eating at various cafeterias on Sundays after church. Luby's gradually became my parents' favorite- grew up in Austin area. The item I knew as CFS was actually a breaded beef cutlet I found out later. Breaded with cracker crumbs. The actual chicken fried steak was even better and hardly ever served, flour batter flour batter flour. Too much labor. Tasted fantastic! Many strange moments and even dumber decisions by the company made this whole thing very predictable. The management training program consisted of so much propaganda that it made all of us know this thing was a sinking ship, if consistency in quality was not maintained. All the company had to do was follow DKR's advice and "dance with the one who brung ya". One example. The company decided let managers have control - turned out too much control. Order cheaper fish? These were frozen blocks of fish, then cut the fish on the bandsaw. A boss of mine ordered Pollock instead of Haddock because of price. So I am standing there one day behind the counter as we open and I smell the strange fish smell. Customers knew something was different as well. Was not a good smell. Another bit of stupidity- Old assholes were everywhere in the senior manager position. The dumbass in El Paso refused to use real milk and butter in his mashed potatoes. He used powdered milk and margarine. Interesting/strange things 1. learning to make fried chicken from old lady cook at "Old Bandera" in San Antonio - Nellie- I think. 2. Sold 100 steaks at South Park Mall in San Antonio one Father's Day - T-Bone and Ribeye 3. Strange chopped steak recipe one old manager - Jim Copeland - had in San Antonio - "Luby's Special Chopped Steak" - had a special charbroil sauce in the middle and was nearly twice as big as a regular chopped steak. We sold those every Sunday. 4. The interview with the super-cute TV reporter in Sherman parking lot Thanksgiving Day 1996. Most beautiful skin on that tiny little girl. And our Area Vice President - Mr. Eldridge calling me to say thank you for doing the interview. I had that interview on VHS for a long time. 5. Eating free as a manager - every day - even days off- at any Luby's. 6. The taste of so many foods. My boss in Corpus-David Rice - made a fabulous Shrimp Etoufee. It was awesome. 7. When I made those three leftover ribeyes into chicken fried ribeye the next day in Sherman - That was the best chicken fried steak I ever had. 8. S E S O V D M - ingredients to make mayonnaise. Salt Eggs Sugar Oil Vinegar Dry Mustard. 9. The dessert I modified. Our Area Vice President - Kent Weaver - son of the rich Mr. Kenneth Weaver - challenged us assistant managers to modify an item and run a food cost. I chose dessert . I took an existing lemon cake recipe and asked the pastry lady to put cream cheese icing on top instead of the usual lemon drizzle. Tasted much better, imo. 10. Sauteed mushrooms with Sherry Wine....Provencale sauce with wine...Dill sauce.....Tampico Sauce....almost any kind of sauce, except for stuffed bell pepper sauce. 11. Meeting Dave Cowens at Walzem Road - San Antonio, and Randy Travis at Central Park Mall - San Antonio. The funny part about Travis was there was an Express-News gossip columnist who wanted the scoop on stuff so I called her and told her Randy Travis and wife are here and how nice he was etc. and the lady asked me if the wife was pretty. Hell no she wasn't so I just said ''uhhh, yeah". My boss wasn't exactly thrilled when he read about his cafeteria in the newspaper the next day, but those old guys were pretty hard to please.
