No shit. We did. But what this post pre-supposes is that's bad. And more importantly - that's not really the problem. The problem is that if the reality is as reported, the president is at least either terrible at business and in dire financial condition and therefore subject to outside influence by creditors, or cheating on his taxes and very likely both. A classic "he said she said" is a situation where two people with equal credibility maintain opposite accounts of an event and no mechanism exists to determine which is true. None of those conditions hold here. First, the mechanism does exist - the president can release the returns as all others have, and despite his insistence to the contrary no law prevents him from doing so, assuming that he's actually under audit. He actually promised to release them repeatedly, but of course he didn't Second - They aren't actually opposite stories - the president has had multiple and inconsistent reactions. Third - The credibility of the two aren't the same. Do you maintain they are? I grant that it's possible the NYT was fed bad information and that fact checking failed or they ran with an irresponsible story, But if they had, don't you think the Trump team would be producing verifiable information that refute the story (see #1)? Do you think that the NYT creating the biggest story of the year out of whole cloth is equally likely as this president lying? Look - it goes without saying that this was a hit and timed to be a hit. If not planned by the times it was planned by someone somewhere. But that doesn't bear on the factuality of the story.29 points

It's a non-issue. Two old fucks are running and one of them will be president. I want the one who can ride a bike, could probably walk down a ramp without assistance, and who I won't worry about withdrawing from NATO and nuking Germany because Angela Merkel hurt his feelings to be president.23 points

Except Trump likely didn't pay what he legally owes - Everyone is focused on the consulting payment to Ivanka and the 70k for hairstyling, but those weren't the interesting things in the NY Times piece to this CPA. His claimed abandonment loss on his casino business which resulted in his NOL carryback and $70 MM tax refund appears highly questionable. To take that loss, he had to really abandon his interests, but in the bankruptcy, he ended up receiving shares in the restructured business after he abandoned his interest. That's a problem and why the Joint Committee on Taxation hasn't officially approved his refund. That amount could come due at any time plus interest. Another item which raised an eyebrow was treating their NY estate as an investment property when the family basically describes it as a second home in publicly available interviews. By doing this, he creates another set of questionable deductions. Additionally, I'm guessing the conservation easement on the property is complete bullshit as those deductions are ripe for abuse. Trump has never seen a line he wouldn't cross and has zero morals or ethics. His income taxes are no different than the rest of his miserable piece of shit life.18 points

Who gives a fuck about packing the courts He wouldn’t denounce white supremism. He wouldn’t commit to a peaceful transition. He asked his supporters to commit voter intimidation. We live in a banana republic. If you support him you’re a part of the problem16 points

Just a reminder for the inexplicably undecided's, this election is not about idealogy, it is an election about competence vs. incompetence, incompetence that could have serious negative ramifications for this country in four years if this idiot is re-elected. Here's just a short list of Trump's Greatest Hits: Health Care – F Has promised and failed to deliver something better than Obamacare for 4 years. Absolute failure. Immigration – F Has failed to resolve any of the immigration issues the country faced when he entered office. The wall has been and is a joke that he’s lied about now for four years. China – D Taking on China was a good idea. The way he has done it is a complete failure. He’s had to provide billions in farm subsidies to American farmers while making little to no progress. His tariffs have resulted in either higher prices to Americans for products, or US companies having lower profitability as a result of having to absorb tariffs. The impact on China’s economy due to tariffs has been very limited, which is why no progress has been made in four years. Economy/Tax Cut – D While the tax cut helped spur the economy, it was completely irresponsible because it ballooned our debt during an economic expansion period, when the country should be putting its debt on firmer footing. It was completely irresponsible fiscally. It was also far too beneficial for the wealthy, further widening an already serious wealth inequality gap. Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq – F Fumbled those issues so badly military leaders resigned. Quality of Administration Talent – F The leaders of most agencies are completely unqualified for their positions. Dept of Education, etc. Most competent talent has not only left (white house cabinet leaders, staff, generals, etc), many or most of them have no come out in support of Biden, showing how incompetent Trump truly is. Relations with Allies – F He is the joke of all of our allies. They understand all of his immense flaws. Unintelligent, narcissistic, easily manipulated, etc. No one respects him. No one. Leadership and Integrity – F He lies constantly, he whines, he calls people names, he’s belligent, he’s thin-skinned, he’s superficial, he thinks he’s better than everyone else. He makes ridiculous claims about his capabilities, like “stable genius”. He’s the worst human being and no one with those characteristics can lead effectively. He is a joke to everyone who hasn’t been conned by him. Has pitted people against each other by inflaming racial tensions, democrat vs republican, etc. He’s a disaster. He’s a grifter who has steered contracts to friends, family, donors and himself. North Korea – F Got completely played by Kim Jong. No results. Russia – F Is being totally played by Putin, has not effectively protected Belarus or Ukraine. Has done nothing about election meddling or other issues. His campaign coordinated with them on the election. COVID – F He did take a few decent actions like shutting down the border, but his ridiculous refusal to lead on mask-wearing and social distancing, and other issues, has caused the results we now see, the highest number of deaths in the entire world and a virus that still isn't under control. Trade – D No measurable improvement. Re-did NAFTA with no real improvement.16 points

@MillerEP I would like to note that the NYT has the duty to report this. A whistle blower brings these documents to them. They vet the docs, they vet the whistle blower, if they check out, they run the story. That is their job, that is why they exist. The motive or timing or legality of the whistle blower's actions are irrelevant to the NYT. Just like when members of the administration leak stuff to push an agenda. Works both ways. Also, the NYT does not "make stuff up." Sure they may make an error, but they print retractions. Their credibility is orders of magnitude greater than DoTarD's. Finally, they also have a duty to protect their sources. In this case, that means not releasing the documents. If you dispute my three points above, then you are disputing the role of the press in a democracy.15 points

It's hard for me to be impartial about Jimbo, because one my best friends is a huge FSU fan/booster, he played baseball there, and hates him with the heat of 10,000 suns. He hated Jimbo BEFORE the national title, so you can only imagine how he felt about the every off-season NFL flirtations and the slagging of the school and boosters and the fucking dreadful roster he left in his wake. On the "Jimbo has a natty" argument -- does he feel the same way about Chizik? Would he rather have Chizik than say Fleck, Gundy. Patterson, Mullens, Riley, Herman, etc? If that's the case, then there's not much you can do to help him. I think you could make a case for either guy honestly, but the thing that separates them for me is that I think we've seen everything that Jimbo is and we don't know what Pruitt is/could be. Jimbo is a solid football coach who did a really good job getting the house in order and winning a title with Bowden's guys. That roster was incredibly talented but underperforming and he did a really good job getting them back to playing football in all three phases. When Jimbo is left with his own players/evals he is lost in a timewarp. His archaic offense and his old school player evals are made for clock draining football with massive guys on the LOS. Neither translates to CFB (Or the NFL) today and he is unwilling to yield on either element. His WCO and his Cubes are the staples of who he is and will not change. You have to adapt or the game passes you by and his ego/id ensures that he will NEVER adapt - look at his goddamn offense - while coaching in Texas. With droves of 7-on-7 spread skill players and QBs that come in already knowing a HUGE amount of the modern offenses. (*not how quickly Leach's concepts are now in place at MooState). That's the entire argument to me - when faced with easy answers to his numerous issues instead of adapting his own offense, Jimbo continues to square peg round holes and try to run that archaic offense that requires WAY too much time to teach for an end result that nets less yards, points, and wins. Even if it's optimal it's still worse. It's hard to argue FOR that coach. Esp as the landscape continues to evolve, every season the sport moves further away from the complex slow paced WCO - which means that every year Jimbo falls another step further behind. Pruitt has evolved some of his defensive philosophies already so I think we can assume that at least for now, he's willing to adapt and change. Ditto with his player evals while he tends to play a little size queen at OL like Fisher (see Gooch), but he's targeted some of the longer, leaner, more athletic OL guys like Parker and Smith. Guys that really translate to modern college (and NFL) football and his DL guys are lean, very athletic - fast/quick. Spread killers not giant maulers. The downside is that Pruitt lost to Georgia State at home. That can't EVER happen. EVER. To be fair, he also turned that same team around and went 7-1 to finish the season. It wasn't very pretty and it was against the lower-tier teams but they were all better than Georgia State and that loss could've defined his tenure and that team. Instead he rallied and the kids bought in and trusted him. I don't know if he'll turn Tennessee around all the way but the roster is way better now than when he got there. I think he's got to take some steps forward again this year and that will include winning 2-3 games that they "shouldn't" win on paper and winning all of the games that the Vols should win.11 points

If the NYT tells me the sky is purple and DOtaRd tells me its blue, I'm looking outside just to be sure. But that is not what is happening here. I'm sitting in a room with no windows and the NYT is telling me the sky is blue and dOTaRd is telling me the sky is purple. NYT says they can't reveal their sources, which is standard for this type of thing. DOtArD says he can't show me his evidence despite the fact that every other person in his position in the past has willingly done so without even being asked. Multiple lines of evidence support that the sky is in fact blue. That's not a he said she said.10 points

Uh huh. He is a bad human being and he is bad at business. Him managing to both commit tax fraud and also lose gobs of money, an impressive feat, would not be surprising given those facts. But you're right, he could, you know, just release his taxes like every other presidential candidate since the 70's and prove the NYT wrong. Huh, wonder why he hasn't done that?9 points

I hope every lickspittle that sucked the trump teet gets blown out. I am a lifelong republican who did NOT vote for trump the first time through because I knew he would destroy the Republican Party as I knew it, and it was worse than I thought. But every one of these fucksticks that bent the knee to him should pay the price. Starting with Lindsay Graham.9 points

Sleepy Joe was pretty woke. All you monday morning quarterbacks complaining about the missed quips and comebacks are missing the point. Joe just had to show up, look alive, not dementia ridden, presidential, and he already wins the debate for any "undecideds". He did more than that, even got some solid hits in, spoke directly to the American people. Called Trump a clown multiple times when he was behaving like a child. All in all, good job.8 points
