Came into the office today, usually get in early and it's relatively empty. New chick that just graduated a few months ago from TCU is also here. Next thing I know, she's fucking spitting fire at me about Texas" "ruining college athletics and I hope you guys lose every game in every sport for the rest of your lives! you couldn't handle losing to us every year so you grabbed your balls and went home!" "We don't grab balls. You're thinking of the aggies. When they did that last, you fell ass backwards into this dumpster fire of a conference. You just got to take advantage of the worst decade in Texas football history and we still have a record of like 60-20 against your program. You should be thanking Texas for that last glimmer of relevance and figuring out how to help elevate the AAC to an autobid conference after it dismantles the Big 12 and hopefully, for you, grabs TCU in doing so. Regardless, you're welcome, and maybe we'll schedule y'all as a cupcake sometime in the nonconference." Then she literally screamed at me about "not going to the fucking AAC! the SEC should be inviting us!!" These people aren't just losing their shit online. They're also coming unhinged in-person. In any event, like TCU, I'm sure she'll be landing on her feet somewhere decent soon anyway.46 points

Yeah that’s it. Not the rape coverup, or the murder coverup, or the simple fact no one wants to watch Baylor.22 points

my beef with 11am games, at least the past decade, is that i drown my football sorrows, so i'm drunk as shit by 2pm, passed out by 3, and hungover with a massive headache by 6pm on a saturday night! one of the Maryland games...my niece decided to 'drop in' unexpectedly at about 2:30pm...and found me naked in the pool unable to talk without slurring and i couldnt even explain why 😄 not my finest moment as her stalwart role model aunt 😳😜21 points

$9.95 Hot damn, what a week. In less than seven days, we've gone from will it happen to it's happening to when is it really going to happen? With so much to report, let's just do this rapid fire style. 1. - The Regents will meet on Friday at 9 a.m. and are expected to approve the move to SEC. Tomorrow is all about making the move official. Expect 2025 to remain the date that is mentioned in all official language until it's not. There shouldn't be any surprises on Friday. Every single step of the last seven days has been meticulously planned and executed. 2. One high-level university official indicated that once Texas and Oklahoma officially approve the move to the SEC, the lawyers for both schools will do everything possible to get out of its Big 12 contract and attempt to enter the SEC in 2022. That is the goal and our sources have indicated that they are confident that Texas and Oklahoma have a plan of attack that will allow both universities to enter the SEC next season. 3. Bob Bowlsby's current animosity toward Texas and OU could be a dynamic to watch moving forward. Getting into the SEC by the start of the 2022 will require some clever maneuvering. The easiest way for it to occur will be if the Big 12 settles with Texas and Oklahoma. One of the things to watch closely moving forward is whether Texas and OU offer a settlement and whether Bowlsby faces pressure from the remaining eight schools to accept the deal. Is Bowlsby pulling an A&M right now, knowing that his initial harsh language will be replaced with a desire to do whatever is needed to make the most money? Or will he go out of his way to make every move Texas and Oklahoma try to make as difficult as possible? The expectation is that it will be the former, but two sources Orangebloods spoke with on Thursday indicated there is a little bit of uncertainty with a very scorned Bowlsby. 4. When asked how upset Bowlsby was, one Texas athletic department source asked me if I had seen the movie "Marriage Story." I have and my memories of the movie don't make that a happy metaphor about the divorce that is about to take place. 5. When asked about Bowlsby's stream of commentary throughout the week, one source told Orangebloods. "He's full of it. He's trying to project strength at a time when he's seen by his partners as being very weak." 6. One source stressed that no matter what you hear in the media, the absolute truth is that the remaining eight schools are examining their options. That source indicated that what typically occurs in this situation is that a non-employee associated with each school will start reaching out to other conferences to sell their program. Basically, it'll be a busy time for middle men and women in negotiations. 7. Want to hear a potential power move that has been mention this week as a worst-case scenario that would allow both schools to play as soon as 2022? Texas and Oklahoma could just tell the Big 12 to keep its TV payouts for home football games for whatever time frame is needed and just walk away. Basically, the Big 12 gets the bank account in this divorce, but Texas and Oklahoma can walk away. That isn't expected to occur, but that it has even been mentioned by sources we've spoken with is an indication of how eager the Longhorns are to get out of the Big 12 and into the SEC as soon as possible. 8. The most unlikely scenario, but one that still remains a possibility is the remaining eight Big 12 teams finding new conferences. If that happens, the Big 12 is dead, and I'm told that should release Texas and Oklahoma from any financial responsibility. This could take years to potentially unfold because the remaining Big 12 schools are not as appealing to the remaining Power 5 conferences as some media reports would suggest. Texas officials have some skepticism about whether the Big 12 simply dying will occur in time for the Longhorns to enter the SEC by 2022. "These schools are trying to act like they have options and they don't. The more noise you hear, the less likely that what you're hearing is true," one source remarked. 9. Another source indicated Texas does not expect for LHN to exist when Texas enters the SEC. If Texas wanted to keep ‘traces’ of the LHN alive, it could have gone to the Big 12 and asked to convert LHN into the Big 12 Network, while getting assurances it would have a large percentage of live home games. 10. Another option would see ESPN converting the LHN into an SEC West Network, but that money would spread out to the entire SEC and not go directly to Texas. Keep in mind the athletic department doesn’t get all the revenue from LHN …some goes to the main campus. As it stands, ESPN is reportedly losing $15-20 million per year on rights fees and production costs with LHN. We've been told that ESPN views the situation as Texas asking to get rid of LHN, with ESPN agreeing to do so without any financial penalty. 11. Texas A&M fell into line pretty easily, as everyone projected as soon as it threw its tantrum last Wednesday. The deal was always done. All of the initial noise was theater. The Aggies have been nothing but fodder for laughs behind the scenes. Every single Texas official basically feels like A&M has never been a bigger butt of jokes than it has this week, which has made for an enjoyable experience. "It was a cherry on top of the sundae," one official joked. "About 100 cherries."20 points

good god. okay. let's do this. IF YOU ARE A STUDENT, you don't get to have an 0u weekend Friday night the way we all experienced it, because you have to get up THREE HOURS EARLIER for an 11am kickoff IF YOU ARE DRIVING IN THE DAY OF THE GAME, you have to leave THREE HOURS EARLIER for an 11am kickoff IF YOU WANT TO MAKE A WEEKEND OF IT, BRING THE WIFE, MEET UP WITH THE GUYS, WHATEVER.... you don't get to have a Friday night in Dallas because you have to get up THREE HOURS EARLIER IF YOU WANT TO FLY IN THE MORNING OF THE GAME YOU CAN'T DO IT IF YOU LIVE ANYWHERE OUTSIDE OF TOLA Pro Tip: with a 230 kickoff, THE FAIR IS NOT A MADHOUSE AT 9AM In addition, and i know this is rocket science, but here goes...... DART MIGHT ACTUALLY BE A VIABLE OPTION IF YOU TRIPLE THE AMOUNT OF TRAINS THAT CAN INGRESS ATTENDEES ON THE DAY OF THE GAME if you kickoff at 230. Why is that the case? because DART only has so many trains, and can only runs so many trains to Fair Park, and total DART capacity on the day of the game is cut by 70% when you kickoff THREE HOURS EARLIER. I will cut anyone who continues to bitch about the infallible logic behind these statements of fact.15 points

After hearing for the last two weeks, essentially, from aggys around me, that Texas will never be a member of the SEC, A$M won’t allow it because we have a conference that cares about its members and their goals, it won’t be a unanimous vote to approve, you’ll get in but you won’t be treated like a full fledge member, to you better come in and kiss the rings because we have more pull/prestige than you think, etc… I’d just like to say, thanks for holding our spot cucks. We’re good now. You can go back to the corner to watch. 🤘🏼14 points

As a west-coaster, 9 am kickoffs are fucking amazing. Usually see Texas give the game away by lunchtime leaving you the rest of the day to bitch and moan.14 points

Wanted to say congrats to the surly team on keeping the site up during all of this. It’s been rock solid for me the entire time. Also have a ZZ Top story. Summer of 93 I was an intern at a large Houston law firm (not a law intern, I was undergrad at the time) and was taken to the original Carraba’s by a partner to have a meal way beyond my budget. In walks ZZ Top with a large painting. They got seated at the table next to us and put the painting in one of the chairs facing as if the painting was a dinner guest. They proceeded to have their meal with the painting as if everyone else was weird for not having one.13 points

Worth noting the last time Baylor was involved in a major legal battle it involved institutional cover up of wide spread rape and sexual assault within the entire athletic department12 points

The abortion impacts NO ONE but the woman who has it. The baby isn't alive. Not taking a vaccine impacts everyone else. Your body becomes an absolute germ factory where mutation is likely to occur. You pass on the illness to others. You are a disingenous shitbag to even try and equate the two. What I would expect from a Trumpy idiot.12 points

Why does nobody push back on this? “Name Texas’ 3 biggest historical rivals. How many do they currently play? How many will they play after this move? Tradition, bitch.” (Not to mention that Texas/LSU might be the most obvious untapped rivalry in the sport) I know these dummies have their standard realignment soapbox speech that they dust off every time this topic is brought up, but genuinely Texas might be making the first conference switch in cfb history where they are ADDING rivalries/tradition/etc. If any of these arguments were in good faith and not just fodder for clicks, this would be discussed.12 points

Everybody loves money more than they hate us. And thats saying something. Nobody pisses, moans, and bitches about everything Texas does more than baylor. Now they are pissing, moaning, and bitching about not having us. One baylor posted apparently thinks that since UT is taxpayer supported, it is their responsibility to make sure the waco economy thrives and baylor has a seat at the big boy table. One even denied politics got them in the B12 in the first place. As funny as aggy has been this week, baylor is just.....well.....sad. Fuck'em.12 points

That’s how it’ll be remembered but in reality pre-realignment the Big 12 was a solid conference. The 2008 Big 12 South was one of the most competitive conference divisions in college football history. Definitely up there with the best years of the SEC West.11 points

Ur welcome. Just trying to do my part. Lol. Was looking back at old pics with my Dad and not realizing just a few short years after I graduated he would pass away. He would have loved this moment. Since he probably wouldn’t be on the internet he’d be calling into the Finebaum show laughing his ass off. Those of you from that wonderful Urban Meyer unicorn of thread would remember…but my Panhandle Peep is absolutely loving ever minute of this.11 points
