Damn. That’s really fucking impressive. At first you think it’s going to be a total fuck up, but then you see him salvage it by managing to embed the tweet in the very middle of the fucked up link he originally tried to post. Bravo, sir. Bravo.43 points

I want our staff to be ruthless enough to take this kind of guy if he has top flight athletic potential, give him a chance to prove he can actually take it seriously, and if he doesn't then don't renew his scholarship. I would have absolutely never advocated that before the courts forced NIL on the NCAA but now that players are being paid (which they deserve as adults providing the main service in a ridiculously high revenue arena) they have to accept the downside to being paid to work. Before that if the guy was giving a baseline effort then you shouldn't have booted him. Now that they're being paid, baseline is no longer acceptable even to me. (I never really "accepted" it but when the coaches were the only ones actually getting paid I put that 100% on their identification of the trait like you're asking about here)21 points

Abbott has either been Texas Attorney General or Governor for 20 years. For 10 of those years, he’s had a Republican in the White House to back him, including a former Texas Governor. The things he bitches about here in 2022 and blames on Democrats, he could have been working on/solving many years ago, but he didn’t. The fact that he didn’t fix those things 10 or 15 years ago says either that he’s fucking incompetent, or that he’s the consummate political puppet who only uses those things for votes and donations. Or both. And Republican voters will reward him for 20 years of not fixing the things he’s bitched about by…..giving him another 4 years. If this were a private company, would you seriously keep a CEO around who can’t seem to fix shit after two decades in the highest levels of company management and who spends way too much time whining about what other companies are doing?19 points

You could have had Gundy vote OU just one spot ahead of Texas in 2008, instead of five. But, you didn’t and he didn’t. I get it- his brother is a Sooner coach. Your schools have a special relationship. I’m sure it was a lot of fun going down, lots of laughs. Go take your sobbing over to the Sooners. They owe you one. We don’t16 points

You just described Greg Abbott, who is the fucking epitome of flavor-of-the-month ideas, based on whoever is a threat to him, whether it's Don Huffines (and the billionaires backing him) or Beto. Oh, and when Abbott beats Beto in November, you will see flavor-of-the-month ideas like nobody's business because Abbott gives no fucks about Texas, his sights will be firmly set on DeSantis. The only people who think walls will stop illegals are fucking morons, because the walls aren't removing the incentive to come to the US, and that incentive is construction, lawn, etc. jobs that, even as shitty as they are for us Americans, pay a shitload more than most jobs in Mexico and points further south. You know what the aggy was actually proposing in 2001? An actual solution that would slow down illegal immigration, because he pushed the idea that if we improve conditions in Mexico, it removes the incentives to come to the US. Republicans don't want to stop illegal immigration and you know this. You fucking know this flatty. They want that cheap labor, which is why Bush, McCain, Perry, etc. were pushing a guest worker program in 2006 and 2007, and it's why Republican administrations, whether it's Bush or Trump, don't take the simplest of steps to make life difficult for the illegals. What are those steps? Well, if you want to stop illegal immigration, you shut down the jobs. Have the IRS and Social Security Administration pour through their databases and look at all of the times that clearly showed Social Security #s being used illicitly (I had to become intimately familiar with how easily they are misused due to somebody using my SS#). And you get strict. Tyson Foods gets raided for the 5th time for employing hundreds of illegals? Stop with these bullshit fines and fucking drop the hammer on them, and drop the hammer on their management that is helping hire illegals. Frame it as a national security issue if you want - claim that by encouraging people to enter our country illegally for jobs, they are working to subvert our law enforcement and border security. But Republicans won't make the IRS and SSA crack down on Social Security # fraud. They won't drop the hammer on companies that keep on employing illegals. Because Republicans want it and they've wanted that illegal labor for decades, because why should Betty J. Babyboomer mow her own lawn, and why should a major homebuilder in Texas pay more for actual American citizens to build homes for them when illegals do just fine.16 points

If you are a conservative leaning moderate in this state, you should be champing at the bit to vote for Beto and Mike Collier. Texas will have a conservative state house and senate for at least the next decade, but a D governor and Lt governor will at least blunt some of the bullshitery right leaning moderates claim to hate. They aren't going to pass any meaningful gun reform, state income tax, or force you to give your house to immigrants. They will simply act as a speed break on our downhill slide to statewide fascism.16 points

That's a bit simplistic. We aren't going to phase out the 2nd largest economy in the world as a trading partner. In the international community, you sometimes have to dance with the devil. I do agree we need to be more forceful with them than we have been.13 points

Oh please. You’d rather reward failure because Beto probably sucks? That’s the magic of democracy. if Beto sucks you vote against him too. Democrats have other problems but one of the problem with Republicans is that your standards are too goddamn low and you don’t hold yourselves accountable for how things are. We used to be Mississippi with good roads. After 30 years of misrule we are just Mississippi.11 points

You think whole industries asked to shut down for hot afternoons and the rate payers picking up the tab because our grid is failing by design is doing fine? You think turning down free money from the feds to pay for middle class families to get healthcare is doing fine? Crumbling roads and leaky dams? Fine? I think you mean you personally are doing fine. And you probably are. Reflect on that when 30 years of rewarding failure catches up to you, I guess.10 points

Damn dude. I remember reading some of your first posts in this forum months (years?) ago and thinking “this dude reminds me of myself 15 years ago, another reasonably smart guy raised to believe a crock of shit who is just now taking a look around. It’ll be fun to watch his eyes open.” Boy was I wrong. Instead you’ve taken to shitting in your hands and rubbing it on your face, in public. It’s depressing as fuck and I’m very embarrassed for you.9 points

You know what's actually disgusting to watch? Our home schedule in the Big 12. We have one game per year that anybody gives a shit about and it's played in Dallas. And then every other year we will have a marquee home game against a non-conference opponent (e.g., Bama, USC, LSU, Notre Dame). The rest is a giant, steaming pile of meh where if we beat them, then you're supposed to. If you lose to them, then you make their whole season. No fucking gracias.9 points

The PK demise really makes no sense. I remember that Washington fans were so sad when he left. He has such a great reputation throughout the industry that I’m thinking the odds favor him getting things turned around. The culture issues within the program and him being the third DC in three years and the players not grasping his concepts are legitimate excuses imo. But those excuses are gone now in year 29 points

I love these self-anointed "Bishops." Not really. I guess they're not much worse than Catholic Bishops. The Methodist church has bishops, so does Anglican/Episcopal, but I can't remember the last time one was scandalized. Maybe there's an Omar Little that robs these kind of churches and their leaders. We can hope. The cheese stands alone.9 points
