You're wrong on multiple grounds. 1) Look at PACER--it shows that Plaintiff did not seek this as a sanction. This was entirely made up by the Court. 2) Southwest's conduct wasn't "egregious." Southwest's posting to its employees was in substantial compliance with the Court's Order. The Court ordered Southwest to inform its flight attendants that it "will not discriminate" on the basis of religion. Southwest posted that it "does not discriminate." Weird biblical analogies aside, any reasonable reader would interpret that to mean that "Southwest does not discriminate, and isn't going to start doing so." What really raised Judge Starr's ire was the subsequent posting to employees, which basically said "don't be a dick to your fellow employees." That's good advice in any circumstance. And by taking that to be a violation of the Court's Order, Judge Starr is kind of telling on himself and the Plaintiff. Apparently, being a dick to one's fellow employees is protected religious exercise, according to Plaintiff and Judge Starr. 3) If you don't know much about ADL, you ought to educate yourself before posting. ADL has been identified as a hate group by the SPLC. And there's good reason for that. It's positions are strongly anti-gay and anti- . . . well, anti-everything that isn't white Protestant Christian Nationalist. The only thing cited for the proposition that ADL does training sessions is a press release put out by ADL, which is the authority on which the Court relies. But nothing ADL posts on its website reflects that. The only "training" they do is for lawyers to train them to advocate for ADL's Christian Nationalist positions. As set forth on ADL's website, But it's also worth noting . . . 4) The underlying case here is really interesting. Plaintiff's co-worker attended the March for Women, to which Plaintiff took offense. So Plaintiff undertook a year-long cyberbullying campaign of posting pictures of aborted fetuses to Plaintiff's Facetrons and calling her a baby-killer. Southwest counseled her; she kept doing it. So Southwest fired her. Plaintiff sued on the basis that Southwest discriminated against her on the basis of her religious exercise in violation of Title VII. So let's unpack that a bit. Apparently, Plaintiff's religion requires her to bully her coworker. And Southwest is legally obligated to accommodate her religious obligation to bully her coworkers. Discussion of the legal merits of that aside, it is a really weird statement of the nature of Plaintiff's religion.25 points

The diversity quote is related to Frank Wilson recruiting Simmons for one team and the other teamβs two recruiters on this one have been guys that look like theyβre about to retire to southern Utah. Simmons hasnβt mentioned that kind of thing to anyone, itβs just obviously not a plus for Texas. Why Choice hasnβt been helping on this one is beyond me. Iβve caught up on this one across multiple fronts. Both schools are getting positive signals because the agent is no dummy. The problem is, the chasm in terms of the package for this one is grand canyon-esque. The gurus, including guys I really like, have always said that this one was a classic NIL recruitment by a savvy circle of people. If that is the case, itβs Texas. Simply put. The βlieβ mention that folks have been hung up on for awhile revolved around the previous coach for LSU who went to the NFL. I have no further context other than it is still a small thing. Simmons has been recruiting heavily for Texas for 6 weeks. The trainer, his actual trainer, is pro-Texas. Not sure what @Hookem2147 is referring to, but the lack of a DL coach in this instance is an issue. I am picking LSU on Thursday and, which is a change of my position from even yesterday, I think he signs with Texas if Texas isnβt a train wreck this season. The logic for that is that this whole thing is about leveraging for maximized gains upon signing and showing up on campus. LSU doesnβt have anything close to what this will take if the NIL issue is the driver. One other thing - the LSU mods and insiders keep talking about the long term value on their end and that is a direct tell associated to what is now clear - their bags havenβt changed and theyβve got deadlines and commitments to multiple people too. Theyβve got a weak story to sell. One other other thing - multiple people near this recruitment have been told it is one school or another and they are passing that on. I also think that is related to maximizing the end value.18 points

Back from a long day volunteering as an election worker. I donβt know how it projects statewide but at the end of the day at my polling station, the No votes beat the Yes votes by a 2-to-1 margin. Voting wasnβt heavy but it was steady all day. If I were Sark, I would be looking at Simmons as a multifaceted investment from an NIL perspective. Obviously, he is a player of immense need and the kind of guy that can be the cornerstone of our defense for the next 3 seasons. He also goes to Duncanville, and if you don't think the NIL package will circulate through the school then you aren't paying attention. That could definitely help us with the ridiculous amount of talent that is in that school right now. Third, LSU has never really done very well in Dallas. They have recruited Houston area very well, but have struggled to get a foothold in Dallas. Duncanville is not the school that you want to allow those guys into, and Brian Kelly seems pretty intent on gaining traction in DFW. Similar to how we beat out Michigan for a number of recruits early during Charlie Strong, those guys haven't really come back. We beat out Ohio State for a few big recruits over the last few seasons and those guys have not really been back to the degree they were under Meyer. Bama has been fading in the state as well on a relative basis and we have beaten them head up on a number of high profile recruits since Sark has been here. We need to make it a point to do the same thing to LSU.13 points

For anyone who benefits as a member of "mainstream society" and who isn't a right-wing nutjob (i.e. pretty much anyone on this thread) Trump is a walking institutional demoralizer. You look at him, what he's done, that none of it seems to matter, that he could be President again -- that shakes your faith you in your political system, your government, your judiciary, your sources of broader information and a good chunk of your fellow citizens. I can't blame anyone for being cynical about this process. We all expected there to be guardrails in place to protect against someone like Trump taking the reins of power in this country. Little did we know, we just had brittle norms upheld by tradition and the conscience of past politicians.12 points

My wife will be talking about one subject then suddenly mention something about a completely different subject without telling me she's switching subjects but sounds like it is part of the original subject. Does it all the time. Her: So I was talking to your mom yesterday and she said she wasn't feeling well last week. Me: Is she better now? Her: Yeah. And they're waiting for the biopsy results. Me: A biopsy? Do they think she has cancer? Her: What? Me: You said my mom had a biopsy done. Her: Oh! No, I meant on that show I'm watching. They think (main character) might have cancer. At this point I really don't understand why we're holding back ATAACMS. At the beginning we need to establish some trust with the Ukrainians and make sure they would actually be a good partner. At this point, that's pretty fucking obvious. If we gave them those systems and said, "Don't shoot at anything inside of the Russian border" I have to believe they would be OK with that. They're already launching drones at Moscow and Russia has done nothing. The worry that we're crossing some red line is stupid at this point.12 points

Texas absolutely is not convinced that he's coming, and they're acting accordingly with what little time there is left. I realize my bias, but I simply cannot fathom how Simmons can say no to what Texas is offering, for a school that he likes fine and has lots of players he likes on the team already. Even if he loves Baton Rogue more than Norla loves being shithouse drunk, it's almost impossible for me to justify him picking LSU over Texas. It's not like we're asking him to come live in College Station, he likes Texas.11 points
