Every one of these assholes will go out to eat tonight or stay at a clean hotel or take a cab or eat food that someone else picked or have their lawn mowed or need help in some way with something and there is a good chance that an immigrant will provide that service for them. An immigrant who is just trying to climb up the ladder and provide a safe home for their family. We all benefit from the work of people who are just here to live the American dream.42 points

Rewatching the game now. -I know it infuriates @BurntOrange&White but Michael Taaffe is going to play in the NFL. -We probably lost about 50 rushing yards due to stupid holding penalties, several of which were iffy at best -Pass pro was more of an issue than run blocking to the point above. Rough few weeks for Cam Williams. -The 1H sack where a guy ran free between Conner and Majors was definitely on Jaydon Blue. -This RB group has in the bottom half of the SEC. If a play is blocked for 4 yards, they get you 3 before tripping on a blade of grass. They also are guilty of contributing on a couple of the holding penalties where they needlessly ran around their blocking. -Best game Trey Moore has played all year. -Pavia’s first run went for 18 yards (TD). His next 15 carries went for 49 yards. Completely controlled his legs. -Not going to the portal for a punter was egregious. We win this game by 17 if Ryan Sanborn is on this team. -Warren Roberson needs to be removed from special teams until further notice. 3 penalties in the return game in 2 games.29 points

Jesus Christ--is this what a Yale education gets you these days? London hasn't felt like an English city in 300 years. It's an Imperial capital. It feels like an Imperial capital. It has felt like an Imperial capital for three centuries. When you land at Heathrow, you land alongside flights from the Subcontinent, from the Caribbean, and from the Antipodes. Then when you take the Elizabeth Line in, you're going to be next to people from right across the old Empire. And when you get into town, you'll get some kick-ass Chinese, Jamaican, and Pakistani food--all because many of those families came to London when London was still their capital, too. For its part, New York isn't "American." It was a Dutch colony. Actually, it was an enterprise of the Dutch East India Company. And the Company didn't give a fuck whether you came from the Netherlands or England or Italy. The Company didn't care whether you were Protestant or Catholic or Jewish or Muslim or nothing in particular. The Company cared that you would be economically beneficial for New Netherlands. These weren't religious zealots like you had up in Boston. New York has always been multicultural from the moment it was founded--intentionally so. Do they seriously not teach this shit at Yale anymore?27 points

Lol. Okay buddy. If that's what you think then you aren't seeing what's going on out there. It is a combination of Sark not doing him any favors with the playcalling and guys busting assignments. The problem is you guys, through your dislike of Ewers, think that QBs should be able to play through these shenanigans without it affecting them and that's just not how things work. Let me take you through a few of them. This first one is one we are all too familiar with. Cam gets beat immediately barely getting even a touch on him. This is meant to look like some type of run action as Ewers fakes the handoff. They turn the DT loose and the left guard is supposed to come down the line and pick him up. This is meant to freeze them and make their eyes check for run but they aren't fooled and just go straight for Ewers. By the time Ewers hits his back foot on the drop its time to get out of there. 1.mp4 This next one the LG and the RB block no one leaving a man to come straight up the middle completely untouched. Quinn has to eat this one. 2.mp4 This next one the RG falls down almost immediately and the rusher is in Quinn's face preventing him from stepping into the throw and it ends up not having enough on it. At home all we see is Quinn underthrowing a ball but don't stop to look at why. 3.mp4 This next one is questionable but you can see why Quinn made the decision he did. LG gets beat to the inside and Quinn has to sidestep it in order to make a play. Problem is there is also a free rusher off the edge. He resets. Golden is dragging across the field into a waiting defender. Ewers could throw this ball but he would have to throw it behind him and hope it doesn't get deflected upwards. I can see why he ate it, but I can also see where he could've thrown it back shoulder. 4.mp4 Another slow developing play action play where we are asking the LG to come down the line and kick out the DE. Of course the LG cannot do it. The guy beats him and puts Ewers on the ground. Ewers completes the play but.... 5.mp4 This next one is interesting. This is 12 personnel. The action is meant to look like counter, but Vandy could care less and simply comes after Ewers never bothering to check for run. It's only a two man route so if there is a throw to be made it's going to take a sec for it to develop. The blitzing guy off the edge takes away any quick throw by being in the throwing lane forcing Ewers to eat it. Slow developing play in the face of an overly aggressive defense. 6.mp4 This next play is another slow developing play action Shenahan style OZ zone fake where your QB peels out the back door to levels concepts. Quinn fakes the handoff and by the time he turns around a defender is in his face. As Helm comes across the line he has an opportunity to chip that guy and buy Quinn a little time but runs right by him. If he chips him Quinn has time to make that throw to 11 on the second level. 7.mp4 This one below is another bust by Cam. He gets beat to the inside. Funny part is we kept the back over there to help but he had his eyes in the wrong place. Had he just stayed home the rusher spins back into him and this doesn't happen. Count the 1000's in your head and will barely get to 3 by the time Ewers is wrapped up. Look at the receivers. All of them but Helm have their backs to him still running their routes so there was nowhere to go to the football. 8.mp4 Again watch the routes. By the time the receivers are making breaks Cam has again been beaten to the inside and Ewers has to escape. Sure he looked totally uncoordinated stumbling and all but you cannot let your man repeatedly beat you to the inside. That's a death sentence on your passing game. 10.mp4 Another slow developing play action but this time on the goal line. DJ gets beat to the inside. Someone comes off the edge completely untouched. I am not sure what the protocol is here but I would think as a back you would try to get a piece of the guy coming off the edge. You do and that opens the throwing lane for Ewers. 11.mp4 It's my personal opinion we aren't helping the kid at all. Sark is putting him in horrible positions with his playcalling, and guys are busting assignments with regularity. Sark is calling plays like teams respect our running game. They don't. Any play action he calls they just ignore the action and rush Quinn. So abandon the play action in favor of straight dropbacks. Have a back chip the shoulder of the man rushing against Cam on his way out in the flat to help him out. Move the pocket. Screen teams and punish them for blitzing. Do anything but the same thing expecting a different result.25 points

I agree that the banged-up RB room is affecting the QB play. If we had CJ Baxter, everything would be different, and it will be next year. I know we all want to see us run the ball more, but the reality is that we don't have a 3rd and 3 type of running back on this active roster. And, Sark is likely afraid of getting another RB hurt if we start calling a ton of running plays. We're pretty much forced into trying to use the horizontal passing game as a running game sometimes, but everybody and their mother knows that's what we're doing. All of that aside, I'm hoping that having two weeks off will get Quinn right. If we can get him playing the way he did in the first three games, we're gonna win out and go to Atlanta. If not, we're gonna lose to aggy or Arky, and maybe both. So, if Quinn's struggles continue in the Florida game, I want to see both quarterbacks get drives. I know, everybody hates the two-quarterback thing, and I usually do, too, but Arch's speed immediately fixes our predictability problem, which I believe is the #1 problem we've got. It's not just that Quinn isn't 100%, it's also that defenses have a very good idea of what's coming. Give Arch some series and we give them a lot more to have to think about. Or, 100% Quinn is back for Florida, and not a moment too soon. We'll see, but it has to be one of those two options.17 points

And I bet you think Trump arrived at Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, Coney Barrett because he's so knowledgeable about Constitutional Law? God, I wish I didn't care as much as I do. I wish I could just put on the blinders and choose to be a dipshit like you. But the fact is if I don't care, then people like you are the ones making decisions for me and my son, and my nieces. Over and over again, Trump supporters show that they are not only incapable of making informed decisions, but they are totally willing to make decisions out of cruelty. There's no way in Hell that I'm letting you idiots control my country.16 points

Yep. Exactly. I said it before and I'll probably say it again, I've been voting in Presidential elections since 1984, and I've never seen anything even remotely like this. And people have to realize these defections don't happen in a vacuum. When this many prominent Republicans are denouncing their party's own presidential candidate, there are a whole lot more voters that are thinking and doing the same. Kamala's gonna win, y'all.16 points

Wadlington on Ewers. I have felt for awhile now that he is biting his tongue on the Ewers vs. Arch deal. Like going back to the spring. "The 10-20 yard intermediate balls hitting receivers on the move that used to be a fixture of the Texas offense have all but disappeared." "27 of Ewers’ 36 attempts were targeted behind the LOS or 0-9 yards down the field. That’s 75% of all drop backs. Unsurprisingly, his average depth of target for the game was a modest 5.5 yards. While the deep ball hasn’t been a significant part of his game most of the season, he has always created explosives through the intermediate game (10-20 yards), which was a co-equal part of his passing attempts. For the season, Ewers is completing only 50% of of his intermediate balls and they’ve made up only 19.1% of his total attempts. Since the injury, they represent 16% of his passing repertoire. In 2023, 28.6% of his attempts were intermediate and he completed 68.6% of them at 12.6 yards per attempt. #3’s stat line of 27 of 37 for 288 and three touchdowns is nothing to denigrate – yards is yards – but two interceptions and four sacks contributed to scoring friction. Both interceptions were on play action. The first a batted RPO, the second a play action tip. I don’t think you can really attribute either play to the QB – it sort of goes into the column of “stuff that can happen when you throw those concepts” – but this isn’t the first time we’ve seen it. Perhaps some QBs are more prone to this sort of thing dependent on their timing, ability to find passing windows or their release point. On the season, Ewers is dead last in the SEC in ADOT (average depth of target) and ranked 285th in college football of all QBs. Stats often lie, but those don’t. Texas has been reduced to a nickel and dime passing offense."15 points

Quoted from bulwark article, Bezos, Trump, and the Failure of Democracy. thebulwark.com “Bezos understood that if he antagonized Kamala Harris and Harris became president, he would face no consequences. A Harris administration would not target his businesses because the Harris administration would—like all presidential administrations not headed by Trump—adhere to the rule of law. Bezos likewise understood that the inverse was not true. If he continued to antagonize Trump and Trump became president, his businesses very much would be targeted.” “Russian democracy died because their institutions and politicians were not strong enough to enforce the law. Sound familiar? I could identify half a dozen laws that Elon Musk has already broken without enforcement. Bezos censored the Post because he knows that nobody will enforce the law and keep Trump from seeking political retribution. And on and on. The corrosive effect on the rule of law is cumulative. The Bezos surrender is our warning bell about entering early-stage 1990s Russia. No legal system is able to survive when it there’s a class not subject to it because politicians are too cowardly to enforce the law.” “And that’s the foundational point. The Bezos surrender isn’t just a demonstration. It’s a consequence. It’s a signal that the rule of law has already eroded to such a point that even a person as powerful as Jeff Bezos no longer believes it can protect him.” Fuck.14 points

The Ivy League grad as "elite thinkers" is the perhaps most overrated bullshit in the history of America. And they have fooled America for centuries. Political leaders from the Ivy League have done more political and international damage to America than leaders from all other universities combined. All because they think they "know better ... are smarter (etc.)" than the rest of us. I spent some time in Corporate America (three decades ago) and had to work on some projects with many Ivy Leaguers. They were fucking elitist privileged Frat/Sorority types who had zero business or creative sense and had their position on because of the degree. Just corporate drones. Yet thought they were capitalist geniuses! To say they smugly and arrogantly looked down on UT grads (or anyone from a state university) might be an understatement. Fuck that and fuck the Ivy League.14 points

I’ve said it many times. There are only 3 types of Trump supporters: 1) wealthy folks that will do anything to get more money, like Elon; 2) completely uninformed people who fell for all the propaganda, or just don’t pay attention, and that includes conservatives, religious right Christians who are basically hypocrites, and others who think he’s good for them when he’s just a crook, traitor, grifter, convict, etc; and 3) racists. He suddenly popped up with #3 to go with #2. It’s gotten to the point that given that, it’s become very difficult to show these people patience and niceness. After all, they are supporting a candidate who preaches hate and lies every time he opens his mouth and his followers now demonstrate the same behavior. At some point you have to ask the question, “why treat them with respect when they don’t practice it or earn it?” People accepting this behavior is what will destroy this country.14 points
