  1. Shit, I feel MORE confident when I see a black person in a position of responsibility/authority…because you know their ass had to not only meet the requirements, but also overcome bullshit at every crucial point in their career while being careful to not piss off the bigots.

  2. After the election, I kept asking myself "is this who we are as a country?" It's easy enough to convince yourself that people were brainwashed or the Democrats fucked up the election or shit was just too expensive... but the last week has proven to me that the simple answer to that question is "yes, this is who we are." We are a country that values the life of a conservative podcaster more than the lives of Democratic lawmakers or children in schools. We are a country that happily lives in two different realities curated by the algorithms in our pocket. We are a country where the media is more focused on access than truth-telling. We are a country that is more concerned with our differences than our similarities. I naively thought that the Democrats just had a messaging problem and that the majority of the country would agree with their ideas if they were just communicated better. I thought that many of the Republican voters just did so out of habit or comfort and weren't truly aware of what their party stood for. That's all bullshit. The liberal viewpoint is the clear minority in this country. The Democrats have lost. When the goals of social media align so clearly with one party over the other (outrage!!!), there's nothing that can be done. We have to accept the new reality, complaining about it now is like going to College Station and complaining that everyone is wearing maroon. @Brisketexan - I'm climbing off the ledge. Not because anything has gotten better, but because there's nowhere for us to even jump. Might as well figure out how to live like this. First step is deleting all forms of social media from my phone. Real life is much more pleasant than life through a screen. I only find disappointment in learning who people are behind their keyboard.

  4. All of you are sitting around moping about like someone just shot your dog. Frankly - I'm fucking tired of it. This is Texas football. Back to back CFP appearances. Back to back national semifinals. B12 champs 2023. SEC title game 2024. Back to back 12 win seasons (13 last year). Thorpe award 2024. Outland trophy 2024. 25 NFL draft picks the last two seasons. Get y'all's fucking shit together and quit being a bunch of bitches. If I have to see one more motherfucker post about 2010 Texas or Garrett Gilbert I'm throwing a damn brick through someone's window. I am so, deeply sorry that Arch Manning isn't instantly 2019 Joe Burrow. Why don't all of you relax and watch a couple more games before claiming that this team is going 7-5. These dogs get another warmup and then they all go get to prove themselves. We are going to fuck Florida's shit up. We are going to fuck OU's shit up. Have some fucking faith in what your head coach has shown you and what he has already delivered for this program. The QB is green. They will figure it out. Together. Give them time. Have some God damn faith for once in your life. THIS IS TEXAS FOOTBALL, GOD DAMMIT. Let's fucking ride. 🤘

  5. No. He taught them to be raging bigots, and that it's okay to say vile, racist shit to people. Proof? My daughter is now in another state because she could not take the racism at her school. We've already been in the news once recently for bullying a middle school kid through racist texts. So she is left to finish her senior year elsewhere. Her hispanic friend told us kids at school thought it was funny to tell her they were going to call ICE on her even though her family has been here for generations and her dad is an MIT grad. These are your church going conservative kids that Kirk is grooming.

  6. My wife had to preach today. It was really fucking hard, she wrestled with her sermon from the beginning, and come Wednesday, it got even harder. Let’s just say she didn’t go the same direction as your priest. She also didn’t go anywhere near “it’s good that he’s dead.” She spoke to bodily autonomy. And how your life, and physical body and existence are a gift from god. And who are we - or anyone - to take away that autonomy, up to and including by ending a life? But don’t think it’s limited to that. Limiting bodily autonomy is a particular problem in these times. Quite a few people thanked her after, and there were some pretty strong emotions. Anyway, preparing and giving that sermon was one of the hardest things she’s ever done, and she left it all on the field. I’m in awe of her, and her ability and courage to listen to the spirit when called, even and especially when it’s hard.

  7. And that's the thing, as an ethnic person, I do not understand. What does making an informed decision look like for you? What are you prioritizing? For me I am prioritizing mine and my family's personal safety first and foremost. Is this person I am voting for going to be hostile to me or people I love? If I can check that box then I move on from there. So obviously for me, a black guy with a teenage daughter, the Republican party is out in box number one. I try to imagine what it would be like to be white, and what my first box would be. I feel like I would still be concerned with my wife and daughter's well being first and foremost. How does one arrive at "I am okay with people like Charlie Kirk and Nick Fuentes being influential to my kids as long as the party does XYZ". I am being honest when I say I do not understand it. I feel like I would want that gross ideology as far away from my family as I can get it. For us black people, conservatives have been a danger to us since 1865. We can be counted on to support whichever party the conservatives ARE NOT in. The few blacks that vote alongside conservatives are largely the self-loathing blacks(Candace Parker). The rest of us vote for self preservation first, and THEN we look at the issues second.

  8. Just a quick reminder for conservatives popping in to chide people for expressing the same opinions about Charlie Kirk that they had a week ago - none of us think that Charlie Kirk should have been murdered, and you voted a child rapist into the White House twice. We're not the same.

  9. Maximillian Kolbe was a Polish priest who was sent to Auschwitz for hiding Jews in his monastery. Although he had German ancestry he refused to sign the document claiming it and thereby receiving rights of a German citizen when arrested. Once he got there, he volunteered to be killed in place of of a man who had a family, as part of a collective punishment for a prisoner escape. He led ten other prisoners in prayer in an underground starvation bunker until guards lost patience and gave them lethal injections. So yeah, lots of parallels to debating college kids American campuses and being a MAGA operative. Side note, Kolbe deserves much better than the “Christian movie” treatment.

  11. And this actually ties back to a subject that was covered earlier: this idea that Charlie Kirk was all for open debate/discussion. Yeah, no. Sorry. I’m here to call absolute bullshit on that one. The entire premise of his debate format was exactly in the title: “prove me wrong.” That in itself is logically fallacious. That’s shifting the burden of proof. When I first saw him doing that shit, my first reaction was exactly what it is today: “no, motherfucker. That’s not how it works. You have to prove that you’re right and then you get to ask if we can disprove you.” ”Prove me wrong” wasn’t just some label that he used either. Just watch that video and many others like it and you’ll notice the same problem: Charlie Kirk never met that challenge. All he ever did was bloviate his stupid and ignorant opinions to college kids. There’s no need to “prove him wrong,” there. He failed to live up to the burden of proof to demonstrate his positions as factual/accurate/true. Every. Single. Time. For example, when he says “prowling blacks go around for fun targeting white people. That’s a fact!” How was it a fact? Had he presented credible evidence to establish such a fact? Or was he just blowing more of his horseshit out there and packaging it as “fact,” as so many right wingers just love to do? Well it’s hard to assume the former because I actually did watch a few formats of this “engage the college kids” nonsense and he never did that. It was just drive-by internet troll horseshit. In doing these ridiculous presentations and editing out the few actual strong rebuttals he would encounter along the way, through the miracle of social media, he was able to convince millions of rubes that he was smart. He was able to convince people that he had powerful points. He was able to convince people that because college kids couldn’t prove a negative, his general political persuasion was the right one. It was intellectual fakery to the absolute max. So no, I will not concede the point that this piece of shit was a champion of open discourse. He infected open discourse with the intellectual equivalent of AIDS, cancer and Alzheimer’s all rolled into one.

  12. Dude. Stop with the false equivalency. The shitty, divisive stuff about Kirk isn't his general conservative positions -- support Trump tariffs, argue for more rigid immigration controls, all the stuff. Hasan takes plenty of "liberal" positions, but he does NOT take positions like "white women don't have the brain power," and "we should be able to whip conservatives." He never put out a "hit list" of conservatives he didn't like, who then got subjected to a cascade of death threats. Now, I also wouldn't support putting our flags at half staff if Hasan was killed, or putting his body on AF 2, or any of that shit. Because he is not a government official. But then, I'm not in a fucking cult that requires that men be made into gods.

  14. If I could add, DEI is not to hire minorities. It's to give them a fucking chance. And it explodes some people's tiny brains that they were actually picked for the job, position, whatever because they were best qualified. DEI is what helped a minority, or woman, or whatever get the chance to at least get a look. If you say you don't support DEI, its because you don't care that others get a fair shake.

  29. Wow, your mask is slipping off buddy. You can disagree with the politics of Joy Reid or Shelia Jackson Lee but they certainly do not exemplify a lack of brain power (see: MTG and Tommy Tuberville for good examlples of white affirmative action hires with double digit IQs) and to lump a highly-educated and respected jurist on the highest court in the nation as undeserving of that position based on that same attack is fucking racist and shameful. If you've ever read her opinions or even bothered to read what those who worked with her or even have studied her work then you'd never agree with Kirk there lest you be called equally racist. Because it is. The only reason Kirk attacked her intelligence was because she's a black woman with power and extreme intelligence and that threatens assholes like you. And for the record, DEI has NOTHING AT ALL to do with hiring quotas or giving any advantages to any particular group or cohort, and the correct full acronym is DEIA. I find it telliing that you ding dongs who cite DEI always leave that A off (it stands for accesibility, btw) because you are too uninformed to know about its existence. if you did, you might be smart enough to figure out why right-winger racist propagandists like Charlie Kirk never mention it since workplace disabilities can cross all demographics. The GOP and its billionaire benefactors worked for decades to undermine and ultimately ban affirmative action programs through its hijacking of the judiciary, and once they got their way they knew they didn't have that racist canard to kick around anymore, so they repackaged the same racist playbook (largely in respons to the BLM protest) by digging up an obscure policy in corporatons and higher education that simply sought to expand the pool of applicants and make sure that all backgrounds were welcome. Nothing in DEIA was ever about giving hiring advantages or admittance advantages to one group over another, but you dipshits fell for the racist lie. And here you are repeating it in defense of a racist piece of shit who got rich peddling odious rhetoric to rubes like you.

  32. Unfriendly reminder to idiots posting on this thread about Quinn Ewers and what all that entails - there is a thread dedicated to that shit, so go the fuck over there with Ewers stories and fantasies. Thanks. In other news, clearly something that is happening right now that isn't working is Sarkisian getting way too fucking cute with personnel and playcalling management. Regarding personnel, yeah, January can't go because he's got a throat injury. Maybe Baxter can't go with a real hamstring injury. A lot of the other guys being held out for dings and cuts need to be getting reps with their units, as much for the unit as for the player. "It's a long season" as a refrain sounds dumber than a soliloquy from Spider2YWhateverTheFuckThatIdiotIsCallingHimselfNow. This is not a playoff team as currently presented. This is 1991 Texas incarnate. Get guys out there and figure out some cohesiveness, as they all might be/probably are playing 13 games max this season. If Sarkisian and his combover idiot friend know that Yips Manning isn't going to be fixing much by Florida, have some fucking courage and put in the Caldwell spare early against SHSU and let's see what he can do with the first team unit. Regarding playcalling, it's time to go in the bag a bit for Arch Rocker and let him cut some deep balls loose, early. If he lands a few of those, maybe that loosens the guy up and his bugs get fixed. If that happens and he's still Glitch Manning, then go back to the earlier point about Caldwell. Get him in there. At some point, Texas needs to be running the actual offense that Sarkisian wants it to run. This is a brutally inexperienced offense. They need to be figuring out how the actual playbook functions at full speed and seeing reps there. Other personnel things that should be getting analyzed are: 1) LG - they played Stroh with the 1st unit exclusively in order to get them gelling. How did that work out? If progress isn't being made there, let someone else get similar reps in this next game. 2) 3rd String QB - Lacey has passed Owens. However, they want him to redshirt. If Arch Knoblauch isn't functional and Caldwell gets hurt or sucks as well, Lacey would ostensibly be the guy. All 5'10", 170 pounds of him. So get the guy reps against SHSU in the second half and let him run the offense.

  33. JD Vance... there isn't a moral bone in his body. His performative acts, like rushing to carry Kirks casket, are pathetic. I've never seen anyone, flip flop and sell his soul quicker, than him getting on the Trump grift train, after all that shit he had said about the man. And now he's desperately trying to use Kirks death to raise his abysmal approval ratings. The whole act is embarrassing.

  35. Charlie Kirk also said people died in the Kerr County flooding 4th of July due to DEI: https://cbsaustin.com/news/local/right-wing-podcaster-blames-austin-fire-chief-and-dei-for-flood-deaths-amidst-union-vote “How many people unnecessarily died because of DEI? Those families are without their daughters. But, hey, you have a Black fire chief in Austin.” Dude has always been a POS pushing and profiting off of hate.

  36. I don’t understand what is going on anymore. My kid goes to an incredible private school in Texas. The type that doesn’t need to answer to anyone about anything. They were pressured to do a moment of silence for Fridays game and refused to do it. Now they are apparently getting blowback and threats from a couple of parents. Friday was lower school night at the game, where all the lower school kids could run out with the team and cheer during halftime with the cheerleaders. And these fucking assholes are mad that we didn’t honor Charlie Kirk during the game.

  40. I had an interesting situation this weekend where a cousin of mine made a long post on Facebook about how her dad (who recently passed, last month) "believed everything Charlie Kirk believed" and if you were criticizing Charlie Kirk or celebrating his death, you were doing the same for her dad. I made the mistake of trying (in a reply to the post, not in a text or call like I should have) to gently impress upon her what Kirk actually believed, and that no, her dad definitely did not believe everything Charlie Kirk did. I was immediately dogpiled by her best friend and a bunch of other people on her timeline, who assumed I was criticizing Kirk and her dad for "being Christians", which I absolutely was not doing, so I ended up deleting the reply and calling her instead. She, of course, profusely apologized for what her friend said to me and we had a long conversation after that. She had absolutely no clue about any of the heinous shit that Charlie Kirk had said over the years, and only vaguely knew of him as a publicly Christian "family man" that debated people sometimes. She is about as normie as you can possibly get so this was not a surprise to me at all. There are literally millions of people like her.

  41. With some time having passed, I have come to pity Charlie Kirk. He was recruited/funded as a teenager by super wealthy right wing activists to be used as a tool to recruit the youth vote. Then, by the time he was in his early 20s, he’d used that propellant to become wealthy and famous and score a beauty queen wife by humiliating college kids and curating his conversations to generate online content and promote right wing extremist views. He didn't have the same under-the-radar conversion to adulthood that I and many others had that gave an opportunity to re-assess the belief system instilled during childhood; he was too far in the machine and had way more to lose by changing his mind than a normal person. So even though I think he had a really negative impact on the world, I feel really sorry for him. I will say this: one of his most used quotes is something to the effect of “when people stop talking, bad things happen”; I think that’s very telling about his worldview and also very wrong, because the reality is that bad things happen when people stop LISTENING. Charlie Kirk was an elite level talker, but I haven’t seen any evidence that he ever really listened. And I think that can be applied to a lot of people in today’s society and is a big reason why we are in this mess.
