  1. Good grief. Y’all have been bitching for YEARS that Democrats are “too soft” and “bringing a knife to a gun fight” and letting the Republicans control the narrative. Now, Dark Brandon finally calls these traitors what they are and says he’s finished with the malarkey and NOW we’ve got hand wringing. Fuck that. Why aren’t you asking Trump to play nice and stop alienating voters and whatever other nonsense you just typed? Those people you’re worried about WILL NEVER BE PERSUADED. Ever. And Biden has FINALLY realized that. He’s not trying to court those assholes. They literally attempted an insurrection. His goal is to motivate non-voters to realize our very democracy is at stake and get them in a voting booth. Stop looking at the current political climate through 2012 glasses.

  2. It's simple. That 40% is lost forever. Fuck them. There's that middle 10-15% that lean GOP but will vote Dem based on the candidate that needs to be reminded that these idiots are even worse than when you voted against them in 2020. Don't fall for their bullshit lies. They are still who they were two years ago. That's the audience for this message.

  3. I find this interesting every time you throw it out. To one of those 15 you are literally saying that your ability to have a specific type of gun (not even guns in general) is more important to you than the ability of her to live the same life you do. It’s kind of fascinating where your line is and that you don’t see that. I’m also not condemning you in any way. I (and a few others here I’m sure) were similar when I was younger, but the school shootings, the 2015/2016 election cycle, lots of other eye opening things made me realize that the greater good was more important than guns, taxes, etc. Mine didn’t matter if the country crumbled around me. There are plenty of D policies I don’t agree with including the way student loan forgiveness was handled, but the greater good outweighs everything individually and every f-Ing person in the US should have the same rights I do to marriage, seeing their significant other in the hospital, raising their kids in peace, etc

  4. Same. I'm embarrassed by the country and world we're leaving for my kids. I think that my kids would prefer a world that isn't on fire, elections that are still Democratic, a country that treats those who are different with dignity and compassion, mass shootings aren't a daily occurrence, and the ability to make their own choices should they get pregnant over a couple extra grand in their inheritance when I take a dirt nap. One side at least pretends to care about the future and people who aren't them, even if I don't always agree with the methodology. The other side is actively throwing gas on the fire and wears the fact that they only care about the present like a badge of honor. People like fatty obviously feel differently because money is the be all end all to them, and a few hundred bucks less in annual taxes (if that) is enough to buy their vote at the expense of future generations.

  6. Aww thanks fellas (and ladies)! I’m having a absolute blast! I was a little nervous about traveling alone for the first time, but I am - as the kids say - living my best life. I’m so glad I treated myself for my 50th birthday! And I’ve got two more Harry shows and “Hamilton” and “SIX” this weekend! [emoji445]”Passports in footwells. Kiss her and don’t tell. Wine glass, puff pass, tea with cyborgs. Riot America. Science and edibles. Life hacks going viral in the bathroom. Cocaine, side boob, choke her with a sea view. Tooth ache, bad move, just act normal. Mocha pot Monday, it’s all good, hey you. Should we just keep driving. [emoji445]

  7. Yes....and no. I actually find myself in a position of thinking "not....yet...." about his death. See, once he dies, all criminal proceedings are moot, and will end. Nope. We need him to live long enough to be publicly destroyed, eviscerated, ruined, convicted, imprisoned, shamed, beaten down, and have what's left of him pissed on by an ornery cellmate. The MAGAs need to be ground to dust, and you do that by destroying their God. Ruin him first. And then have him die of rage and despair. And on that day, I will spend more money on booze and fireworks than any human rightfully should.

  10. Sports legend fraudulently obtains and/or helps redirect millions of dollars of taxpayer money. Sports fan says it's no big deal because he liked watching that guy throw a ball decades ago. Oh and if you think there's something wrong with the theft of millions of dollars you're being political. (Note for the dummies that might agree with him: there are not two sides to stealing millions of taxpayer dollars meant for poor people. Nobody is a fan of that - whether it's the taxpayer money or the help for poor people angle - unless you're a dipshit on a message board and you think people are being mean to your hero who has literally never heard of you and would take the money right out of your wallet if he could reach it).

  11. We’ve long complained Dem politics are too genteel. Now we think it’s to the MAGAs advantage? It’s time to call them out, shame and shun them, and tell them to sit down and be quiet. If they break the law, arrest them. That’s it. If 30% are MAGA no matter what it’s time to isolate that party even further until it becomes irrelevant. And if they do act out and riot the frame of reference has already been set. It’s like the big lie Trump marketed in advance but this isn’t a lie it’s the truth, they hate the constitution, democracy, and they can only accept victory or that the other side cheated. Call them out, make the mid terms Trump the criminal vs Biden again and win. To act like this is just another election is insanity. Given the court make up winning congress has become that much more important. Call it like it is Dark Brandon.

  14. How? College football is literally the only American sport where the regular season has more meaning than the post season. Finally they have a real playoff. 2 and 4 teams were not even a playoff at all. Also the only sport where winning your division didn't guarantee shit. This in fact does the opposite. Makes the regular season more exciting. Now more teams have a chance and more games as the season moves along has meaning.

  15. I think the majority of people fall in the middle, I would think more liberal socially and more conservative financially. All of that has been blown up in the last few years and we’ve handed the microphone to the crazies. I’m not sure how you reel it back in, but I’m going to align myself with the group that is trying to create a better country not tear it down. I should have added, having two girls changed my political views more than anything. I don’t feel good about what’s going to be left for them, so I if I have to pay more taxes, lose a few guns, etc to get there then so be it.

  18. I’m a college football fan. This is New Year’s Day for me. Anything and everything is possible. A man I never met before said it really well on a sultry night in 1991 in Baton Rouge. Tiger Stadium was packed out. LSU was hosting hated, despised, detested Auburn. In those days, an invocation was still part of the opening of a game. The multitude was quiet. Some bayou priest or other spoke of God watching over the athletes as they competed. As the prayer ended, I noticed that the dapper little old Cajun gent standing next to me (neat attire, salt and pepper hair, white Colonel Sanders mustache & imperial decorating his lip and chin) kept his head bowed. He said these words, which I could barely hear: ”Tank you, Lawd, fa lettin me live anudda yeah.” Then he raised his arms in jubilation, closed his eyes and yelled at the top of his lungs, “GOOOOOOOOOOOO, TIGAHS!” I just love that shit. Bring on the football, god dammit! Go Horns (except Sep 10) and Roll Tide! Bravo Surly for providing a forum like this. Oh yes and LSU upset the highly favored Philistine Plainsmen that night so hoodoo happens.

  19. They make it worse on themselves. Their need for a "buffer" caused them to start a war with Finland, divide Poland with Nazi Germany, make their neighbors satellites who hate them and now invade Ukraine. Learn to a better neighbor. Finland wasn't going to invade. Poland wasn't going to invade. Ukraine wasn't going to invade. Fuck those guys.

  23. tl:dr - there's a lot of fucking talent here and a really solid defensive staff. floor is really high. qb, left side of ol play along with jimbo's playcalling will be difference between 9 wins and a playoff run. my heart says 10 wins, my head says 9, so fuck it, we go 10-2, lose to arkansas and bama and everyone is relatively happy. fin. for those that deal in specificity: qb: haynes king has played like 5 quarters of college football. anyone saying he's great or sucks has no idea, and we'll see what happens this fall. supposedly there's a bit more rpo options and easier throws, but we've heard this from jimbo before. i think he can be competent, but a. can he stay healthy, b. what does competent get you? max johnson is a jag, although a far better backup situation than last year. staff is really excited about weigman, we'll see how much run he gets early, which could be interesting. rb: achane is awesome. smooth, really good at avoiding big hits, great hands, he's going to have a monster year. lj johnson and daniels are ok, le'veon moss is the prize here - there's a reason bama was all over him. there's also a reason they backed off as he needs to get his head on straight. he's either going to turn into the backup at some point this year and breakout, or will be off the team by november never to be heard from again. coin flip. wr: hope is a dangerous thing, but between having an actual position coach and a large influx of talent, there's a chance we can be close to league average here, which would be incredible. evan stewart is a fucking witch, he works his ass off and makes the room better. anias smith is overrated but will be competent in the slot, and chase lane is a nice guy that works hard at the z. guessing noah thomas and chris marshall get more snaps as the year goes on, they're just so much more talented than anyone else on the roster. te: probably the largest delta between what the start of the year looks like and what could be happening in november. max wright and blake smith have been in the system a few years and know where to be, jake johnson and donovan green haven't, but they're just superior athletes. somehow, neither are on the level of theo ohrstrom who has a size / speed combo that really doesn't make sense, however i just have a hard time thinking he's going from essentially 8th grade football in sweden to competing this year. will be interesting to see how those guys are worked in. ol: the degree to which you believe in steve addazio is probably related to the ceiling you think this team has. the guy can coach a run game and seems locked in with jimbo in a way josh henson never was, however we'll see what happens. right side of the line will be fine. fatheree is a first round guy, layden robinson needs some work as a pass protector but great run blocker. other 3 spots will be interesting. sounds like wykoff is going to start, bryce foster doesn't really love football and that pisses jimbo off. i would assume he'll be back starting by conference play, but it's not crazy that he's not on the team by that point either. wykoff isn't a huge dropoff here. i have doubts about zuhn's strength at left tackle, however he's miles better than jamir johnson (i still don't understand why he started all last year), and either aki or moko should be passable at guard. decent depth at guard, not a lot of options at tackle. pj williams and kam dewberry are going to be players. defense: we're going to be more multiple, we're going to play more single high, we're going to press more, we're going to force more turnovers, and we're going to give up more big plays. elko loved to sit back and slowly dial in, durkin is going to bring the fight much earlier, both have their good and bad. still can't believe we didn't take a transfer linebacker. dl: i can see 12 guys in this room spending time in an nfl camp. just an absurd collection of athletes that needs to translate to production on the field quickly. at dt mckinley jackson is healthy, in shape and in a contract year. raikes is really solid, but shemar turner is just too good to keep off the field. walter nolan and gabe dindy were both dinged up most of camp, they'll arrive by conference play. marcus burris and albert regis would have been our starters at dt for most of the past 20 years and been fine. tunmise adeleye and fadil diggs will start at de, but anthony lucas, overton and malick sylla really started to look good at end of camp. still not sure if there's a guy that can really bend the edge which will be the difference in extremely solid and elite. i have faith in terry price and elijah robinson to keep this group motivated, but that's a lot of guys to keep happy. lb: easily weakest position on the team. helped by playing behind what should be a very good dl, but we're at least 1.5 guys short. edgerin cooper will make a bunch of highlights, but still runs himself out of plays, and can't weigh more than 215. andre white looks incredible in pads, and just doesn't process fast enough. there's a bunch of other guys, none are playmakers. the freshmen might be in time, but they're at least a year away. we'll only play 2 most of the time, but any injuries here and we're fucked. cb: this is my biggest question mark - lot of injuries during camp and i don't think anyone knows what we have. chappell remains the best cover guy, but i'm worried about jaylon jones continuing to start on the other side. myles jones can't stay healthy. denver harris and smoke bouie are going to be good, but how soon? the kid out of georgia is a stud, but he may not see the field this year. gotta stay healthy and play up to talent. s: went from a weakness to strength real quick the last few classes. durkin has demani richardson way more involved in the box, which is where he should be, and both jardin gilbert and jacoby matthews will be huge improvements over leon. the coaches think matthews is an all american at some point. antonio johnson might be an all american already and bryce anderson can play pretty much every safety postion. this will be a great group, and will need to be if the cb's don't hold up as anticipated. st: punter and kicker are very good. how much do you risk achane returning kicks? no idea. gonna be a fun year. copy and paste when we go 6-6.

  24. Yes you should. Jackson has a population of 83% Black people. The state is 38% Black. Mississippi is horribly gerrymandered. Reeves only received 52% of the vote. Mississippi truly needs a Stacey Abrams type. The demographics are there to follow in Georgia’s footsteps. Same thing with Alabama and Louisiana. Two states which have elected a Democratic Senator and Governor respectively - and much more recently than Texas. Unfortunately both states Democratic Parties have withered on the vine and are basically nonexistent. A situation I’m sure Texans can relate to.
