You’re free to move to any of them, plenty of options to choose from. However, banning guns here eliminates the last Western option for people who want to keep the ability to defend their families from criminals and potentially a tyrannical government. If it’s the number one issue and you truly live in fear, move.

Yet its others who are living in fear...

No. It didn’t. He adequately explained why someone with a CHL didn’t engage the shooter. The OP has a very incorrect perception of the purpose of a CHL. Using a concealed weapon to save the day is always the last resort. And, while it is touted that a good guy with a gun protects against a bad guy with a gun, the reality is that’s only when escape isn’t an option, and thinking people understand this inherently.

The post was pointing out the ridiculous idea from the right and nra who say that the best deterrent to a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.   No one wants the good guy to be shooting either.

Uh yeah it did.

Pubs are constantly telling us that the only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. This is a load of BS which was the point subliminal was making. (can’t believe I have to explain this)

And they’re not wrong. Usually that guy is a trained peace officer. Like the ones who arrested this crazy. Occasionally is a CHL holder who is cornered and has no choice. And that’s the way CHL holders are taught and should be expected to act.

How much has the WOD slowed the use of drugs?

Again, what to you propose to do with the millions that are already out there?

Turn them all in? My law? Do you want give the police, who have these guns, another reason to no-knock raid anyone who has purchased them, ever?

No, I can make 30k selling one in a black market?

Okay, I'll be rich bitch.

You are literally retarded.   The point is simple.  If you can’t wrap your head around it, you should probably go take a trip to the zoo.  I hear you people like the zoo.

You have also misunderstood the argument. The idea is that a shooter would think twice before committing an atrocity where the victims could adequately fight back, and not for willy nilly vigilantism.

What do you propose will happen to the millions already in public hands and in Mexico?

Where there is demand there will be supply. You will create a new black market. The war on drugs has done great things to reduce gun violence. Ask Mexico and Chicago who also have the gun laws you propose.

You also missed his point. Aside from all that, people would just find different guns or black market ones.

Here is where the flawed argument always ends up:  we have too many guns out there now so there’s nothing we can do.

Which is basically saying that we have to accept mass murders.   Lay back and enjoy it attitude.

You're "at a point" where you'll listen? That's nice. So give us a ballpark figure on where the death count needs to reach before you're "at a point" where you'll do something?

I’m sorry that you were not able to construe that I’m willing to act, but that proposals a little more realistic than “We’ll just take all the guns!!!! Yaarrrgh!” need to be suggested and implemented. Because quite frankly, that’s extremely unrealistic. The proliferation of unregistered weapons and people unwilling to part with them would have a large intersection on a Venn diagram.

Btw, you’re approach to those who are interested in changing things makes you part of the problem. Not Hugo level anti productive, but mad and hell, do something right the hell now and f anyone who doesn’t see it exactly like me is how you turn off reasonable people while getting shitty legislation passed.

And you still haven't answered my questions.

My point could not be more simple.  Restrict access to assault weapons and fewer people will die.  How many fewer?  I don’t know.  But one fewer is fewer.  Especially if it was someone I loved.  And 29 people who are no longer here are being mourned today.  If it was 28, that would be better.

But it's just like a baggie of coke. You could sell your newly banned assault rifle on the black market for 30k and be free and clear. There's no way it would ever be traced back to you after being used in a violent crime. And even if you could make it untraceable, I bet many would be fine with blood on their hands as long as they get theirs. I see a lot of potential here to make money with little to no drawback.

I think my question is legitimate. Rational people are willing to identify there is a critical problem and recognize there is a urgent need to address it. But some other rational people are not. I think this comes down to some people having a higher tolerance for dead people than others. If the tolerance is for fewer dead people than infinity, then what is that number at which point they will take action?

Register all of the guns. Yearly.

No more gun shows. No more private sales. No gifts.

Sign for every single bullet and track them.

A rigorous process to possess a firearm.

Kinda like our neighbors to the north.

That's a start.

Hang out at gun ranges and just like the game warden confiscate anything without proper paperwork.

What do you think will happen?

there will be a lengthy discussion, likely years worth with proposals, bills, vetos all sorts of childish crap by our elected officials and general bs and jackassery in Washington until large measures are hammered out. With that in mind, “I’m willing to listen” is where I’m at, because nothing is going to happen tomorrow, and nothing is likely going to happen at all. It's easier to buy bullets than antihistamines.

It's easier to get a gun than a car.

Says the man who supports white nationalist terrorism. I don’t support an ethos and campaign of racism and hate that inevitably - INEVITABLY - THIS IS WHAT WE TOLD YOU FUCKERS WOULD HAPPEN - leads to mass murder and extermination. I think that pieces of shit like you are fucking evil.
That’s the only sane point of view in this goddamned country right now.

You suck as a mind reader.  I'm not the one making it about race, you are.  The vast majority of the people in this country who take my position aren't doing so because of race.  They are doing so because laws are being broken and no one gives a shit.  It's not the color of the person's skin that is the issue.  It is what the person is doing.  I would say this if the illegals were Mexican, Nigerian, Swedish, Mongolian, Canadian, or Martian.  I'm not sitting in front of my TV watching Fox news with a big bowl of popcorn in one hand while jacking off with the other one because of this.  It is an insane policy to just let everyone who tries to get into this country illegally be olly olly oxen free once they set foot in it.  If I try to enter practically any other country in the world illegally and was caught my ass would get thrown out and not one of you hyperbolic politically correct skyscreamers would ever complain about it yet you consider it morally reprehensible for the United States to do it.  Go choke on your own hypocrisy.

Then you offer to compromise.   All-or-nothing puts them in a position of feeling like if they budge one little inch, you will take a mile, and so they are not going to budge.  There are plenty of extremely reasonable gun-owners who would be willing to budge on quite a few things, but if they are met with the extreme "ban everything" crowd, they are going to side with the gun nuts.

As for your other points/analogies, they aren't very good.  While there are numerous reasons why you would buy hundreds of rounds of ammo, there's really only one reason you're buying hundreds/thousands of the pseudoephedrine-based medications.

Or to put it another way, the last time I went shooting, I shot 300+ rounds.    The last time I had an allergy attack, I took one pill.

The car analogy is not really relevant either, since it's financial-based.   Of course car dealers are going to be careful about letting a $40,000 hunk of inventory be driven off the lot.

With that said, I can hop on Craigslist and have a beater car within a day or two if I wanted to, as easy as I could buy a gun from a friend or relative.

Just more porn.

I wasn't talking about the government going after them, although at this point, if you post on 8chan, you pretty much expect the feds to be reading everything posted there.  I was thinking more about public pressure, although I'd hate to see pressure on tucows, I've got a fondness for them that goes back many years.

OK, your question is what do we do about the millions of guns already out there?  Even if the answer is we do nothing about them, but make the acquisition of new assault weapons difficult or impossible, fewer people will die.  That is simple math.  I apologize for the name-calling, but doing something is better than doing nothing.  Do you argue that point?

I used to get a hundred pill bottle of Drixoral. No questions asked. I can't even get Drix now. Yes, I've shot up a few hundred rounds at the range. I can still do one but not the other.

You take that smoking heap on the street and go through the hoops to get it tagged, inspected, and insured, mo power to you. That's what I'm asking for with the Bushmaster. Tagged, inspected and insured.

Canada should have a better system of keeping track of guns than we do. They have almost 300 million less people to keep track of.

So preventing some mass murders isn’t worth pursuing?  Get the fuck outta here.

20 people would most likely be alive in El Paso today if people haven’t normalized semi automatic rifle ownership.  That attitude is letting someone buy a semi automatic weapon today that will eventually kill 20 others 5 years from now.

I will pray that people like Hate eventually see the light.

Whatever needed to be done to stop this from happening probably needed to be done when the shooter was still in elementary school and it probably would have required psychiatric or psychological evaluations to do it.  That would open the door to a very messy discussion about enactment of preventative measures placed on someone who mental health experts think may commit a horrible crime in the future versus infringing on the rights of the very same person who has provided no evidence of being in the process of planning that crime in the present.

We are also reminded that people live in a fantasy world where banning AR-15s will stop mass murder. If it worked, sign me up, but evil will find a way.

If it makes us all feel better to do so, by all means stop production and sales of the AR-15, 3 year moratorium to register existing guns to a Federal Database and any other possession becomes a felony.

It wont stop anything but people will feel better about themselves. And politicians will make bumper stickers and hashtags.

According to Senator Cornyn, I must be a minority now.  Can't wait to enjoy all those minority benefits!  BRB, going to file my LLC...

Instead, we have a DNC nominee attempting to define "White Privilege" on cable television and in front of Detroit.

I selected German as my elective language in school, thinking it might be cool to learn more of my heritage.  I didn't realize that only helps me now when buying car parts online and the little Spanish I picked up on the way only helps with my taco order.

It's not all rainbows and puppies over here, bruddah.
