AISD's (and other districts) Plans for Schools Starting August 18

Austin High normally has the two ACL Fridays off. District so far saying they are going to push ahead and have schools those days. I feel for families south of the river as they are fucked getting their kids to/from school due to all the road closures. Also parking will be an absolute mess by campus.

This is going to be a shitshow coming up. Not sure having this festival in midst of this spike in cases is the wisest move, but we shall see. Football happened and we haven't seen a big case spike stemming from it so perhaps will work out.

We come from south of the river to AHS. The trick is to take Walsh Tarleton in from behind Barton Creek Mall and then cut over into Rollingwood and zigzag your way to Stratford and pick your kid up at the rowing dock on Stratford.  Usually just have to do it once as most of the kids in will skip one of those Fridays and attend the festival.

Abd cancellation of ACL is still a possibility at this point. I bet they won’t because of $. But they’ve been canceling a lot of small scale festivities like the Batfest, Pecan Street Fest, etc. ACL has not yet received its permit for this year and the city is still waiting and seeing.

But the Facebook moms are sure riled up about this.  Sternly worded emails have been written to city authorities about this hassle of picking up kids from this school that the district already provides free transportation to and from everyday.

Do we really know that?  If 100% fans who attended the football game lived in Travis County and the County showed a large increase after the home opener, you could probably attribute that to the game, but I doubt health officials at this point are asking positive patients if they went to the game or not.

But I think a large portion of the fans came from elsewhere in the state and went back to their homes scattered around Texas.  Theoretically a high percentage of them could've tested positive after the game, but those numbers are spread across the state, so I'm not sure people would contribute an aggregate spike to the Longhorns game.  Same for those shitheel aggy fans.

Way back EARLY in my career, I litigated one of these cases on behalf of the gov't entity against the disruptive bunch.  Summary of the established law on this: fuck around, and find out.

As long as there is good evidence of you being disruptive (and now that everything is on video, there will be), you can and will get tossed out.  Further, if you are disruptive on a repeated basis, the entity can even ban you from future meetings for a reasonable period.  And/or have your ass arrested and tossed in the hoosegow.

True don’t know but haven’t seen a spike here and I’d figure with probably 50% of attendees being from Austin MSA (total guess at this but looking at students/local alumni probably not far off) and nothing material has shown up in data yet.

RRISD elementary kiddos here…they grab a multi layer cotton mask from the basket of them we’ve had

So they are all sticking their grubby hands into the same basket to pick a mask they put on their faces.

I'd recommend putting the masks in sandwich bags at least.

Could one of you tech-savvy fellows put that photo alongside that weird guy with the bad hairline who's emerging from the fern plants inside?  I think they're both even wearing red shirts IIRC.  I wanna post it on nextdoor to see if anyone realizes you never see the two of them in the same place at the same time.  Whoah!

I assumed he was talking about his own kids, and a basket of clean masks at his own home.  We do the same here at our house.  All masks get washed and put into a basket in the linen closet.  Kids go and grab one before heading out the door to school.

Florida, but there's a chiropractor involved, which hits close to Surly.

https://www.cnn.com/2021/09/16/us/florida-chiropractor-mask-exemption/index.html

Quote

A school district in Sarasota County, Florida, has tightened its mask policy after a chiropractor signed hundreds of medical exemption forms that allowed students to opt out of wearing masks in schools, officials said.

The Sarasota County School Board had voted in August to implement a 90-day mandatory mask policy for students, employees, visitors and vendors, with exceptions for medical reasons or if wearing a face mask would not be consistent with a student's Individualized Education Plan.

Not Covid related but I don't want to start a new thread.

This fucking Tik Tok "Devious Lick" challenge where kids are supposed to vandalize something at school is a beating.

OHenry had several bathrooms vandalized today with soap dispensers stolen, a toilet broken etc etc

Just stupid. I fucking hate Tik Tok.

I feel bad for her kids. Now they get to have buddies showing them a video of their mom declaring her lack of anal sex experience and desire for anal sex on the bus forever.

"Hey Chaz, is your mom still not into butt stuff??"

These people are nuts.

This is failed school board candidate Kara Bell, aka the "Woman of God" of Nordstrom Rack fame.

She has never had anal sex, and she doesn't want to have anal sex.

This happened on Wednesday night.

On Thursday morning, school district police reportedly went into a middle school library to investigate the offending book and others, and the superintendent removed them from the shelves.

Things are getting fucked up.

She said "anal sex" a lot.  I think that was a coded message for her husband.

They should probably also confiscate all cell phones connected to the internet. Kids reading that book about racism and love in the time of the New London school explosion are not doing so for sexually prurient reasons. But on the internet, they are only one click away from scat porn. School police? Sheeit

as a parent, if you don't set boundaries for your kids' phones that's your prerogative.  that kinda thing shouldn't be in a middle school library.

it is obscene.  it is pornographic.  and it is vulgar.  it has no place in a middle school library.

I know we're all concerned parents here, but I read that in Jackie Chiles' voice and laughed and laughed.

"This book is salacious.  It's licentious.  Why...it's obscene!  We're going after Big Anal, Mr. Kramer.  If there's one butt stuff fan on that jury, you're gonna be a rich man!"

If she doesn't want her kids to learn about anal sex in middle school, then where does she want them to learn about it?
