Well, after two forums, a bajillion posts and a couple of years this whole thing kinda fell flat at the end. I suppose we should all just go back to work now.

Yep.  This thread is quickly going the way of a flat-earther message board.  No real evidence, but alleged conspiracies errrrywhere.  It’s embarrassing for just about everyone involved.  With the exception of a possible Muller testimony this one has completely run it’s course.

Maybe Hugo can start a SDNY thread.  At least that one actually appears to have some upcoming potential.

You seem to be heavily invested in this deal.

Guess what? Most politicians and Presidents are/were professional criminals, this isn’t news for those that have paid attention close enough.

We’re at the “everybody does it” stage, I see

Yes it is true that Trump, currently the most powerful man in the world, is a morally bankrupt narcissistic delusional con man who is very likely compromised financially/personally by the Russians. But the real story we should be focusing on here is how deep state individuals in the IC tried to sound the alarm about how shitty Trump is so that he wouldn't become the most powerful man in the world.

If only we had something like a charter that provided a clear mechanism within a democratic framework to remove him from office. Too bad we don't. I guess let’s just let unaccountable spooks run the play instead.

I wonder if the Ds realize they're losing momentum with each passing week?

As a lifelong D I can tell you that the last 30 or so years have been a shitshow that has required hype, fear mongering and hysteria about the other side of the aisle to get any traction with the fanbase. That does not bode well for the immediate future seeing as how the hysteria is hard to keep going without a major focus now. Don't fool yourself though, there will be more. The machine will create it.

Conversely, the R's have their own issues. Trump is not anyone that a Reaganite would want any part of. Both parties are scrambling to find an identity and can't seem to get out of their own way, they're both allowing their fringes to dictate the message.

Part of me would really love to see that weasel get 5 years in the pokey, but the tax returns are more important (dammit).

Nah. The tax returns could show rampant fraud, foreign money laundering, tax evasion, direct payments from Putin, and that Trump is barely above water. Nothing will happen from it.

5 years for Mnuchin is a real thing. I'd take that deal right now. Although Trump would probably pardon him and screw the whole thing up.

Mnuchin isn’t going to jail for five years.
Nobody wants to set that precedent.  See Holder and Contempt of Congress.

Yeah, accountability being the norm would be awful. It's much better to just chant about it at rallies.

Correction: chant about it for the other team.

The 14 investigations were stopped???

I think it's safe to say that the momentum has. Mueller was the big one and it flopped. Dems need to try something different if they want to keep the non-rabid supporter engaged. We're not all rabid and many of us are a bit embarrassed by those who are. How about run somebody that doesn't come across as a Socialist loon.

Well, those of use who are not ignorant of the findings do not think so.

Those of us who listen to Trump, believe him and Fox news when he says it was a total vindication, who take two minutes from their day to see the Barr statement news clip on TV and move on, thinking it is a "flop", well...

They likely think that any one to the left of Trump is a socialist loon.

Yeah, I know what you're saying. Those are going to progress and probably bear fruit.

Just seems like the Ds in the House are going to lose all their momentum by trying to enforce subpoena after subpoena. There may be plenty in the Mueller report to start impeachment hearings. Seems like the only way they're going to get testimony from all of the witnesses.

Would there have even been the rectal exam if Donald had not been elected President? That's my problem. It's with the politics. Stop it and run a qualified candidate.

Maybe you're just really young or really naive but people have been leveraging their political clout for personal power and financial gain since forever. Maybe we've just never had a direct player get elected to POTUS but I can't make much distinction between a guy who holds the office and is beholden to multinational corps and a guy who may himself be directly compromised. Wake up, have a cup of coffee.

Hillary was a qualified candidate.  And she was being examined all the way up the election.  Trump was publicly soliciting foreign intervention. That was a kind of a big deal, as was hiding hush payments. Those alone were worth disqualification.  And they were already investigating Trump because of Russian involvement.  That wasn't all over nothing but it will be if they do nothing to prevent it going forward.

If you have to explain this to someone, they're not worth the time.  They are immune to rational thought.

Seems like a weird letter, but I don't know what those are like.  115,000 employees stuck out like a mofo though.  Geezus.

Using one of the president's main campaign slogans strikes me as unusual.  Particularly after talking up his lack of partisanship.

It’s like he’s speaking in code or something.  The letter doesn’t come off sincere at all.
