McConnell believes he actually represents the true GOP and his side does not put up shit candidates like Oz or Walker. In reality, few GOP voters are aligned with McConnell and his views. They want the reality TV (Oz, Trump) or crazy people (Trump, Walker.)

Trumpkins like Walker because he’s dumb like them.  Or makes them feel smart.

Loving that Trafalafagar poll. Should continue to let Wisconsin Dems do their thing. They’ve had a ton of momentum since the Scott Walker failures. DNC can make contributions there and won’t hurt candidate with Independents.

Georgia shouldn’t be and I don’t think it was ever wise to call it firmly blue. Could see it splitting Governor and Senate seats. Could see in a midterm year going all three either way too. Trump hasn’t put his thumb on the scale and said Fuck Brian Kemp and Raffensperger yet.

Love the news about GOP pulling out of Arizona Senate. Kari Lake will do batshit things with the news I’m sure.

Hope nobody bumps into Fetterman’s pacemaker. I have no clue how pacemakers work.

Murkowski is the best Senate candidate for Reps and Dems in Alaska. Obviously would love a Democrat, but Murkowski does plenty that Dems like.

Don’t know shit about NC. If she wants more money, give.

Tim Ryan is an authentic Ohio dude. Probably copying a lot of Sherrod Brown’s playbook. Vance is MAGA fanfic. Don’t give them a reason to vote/coalesce for him by having the world announce a socialist DNC spend.

Rubio in Florida doubled down on abortion w no exception. State seems too big population wise to do that with it’s toss up history. MAGA crowd isn’t overwhelmingly religiously aligned and  DeSantis probably Carrie’s him over.

my opinions are facts.

Goddamn it, for the amount of autocorrects I get for in vs on (makes up 50% of my edits) and other stupid bullshit, this one makes sense since my sister’s name is Carrie. Can’t be mad at this.

FL is gone, folks.  Don't waste any thoughts there.

The last 3midterms have been decided by around 32.5k and around 60k twice. There’s nothing to show anyone is wasting time in a midterm there yet. Coming up short doesn’t mean it’s a waste.

Florida is kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy. The only olds who want to move there are brainwashed by Fox News. The young people are raised in a culture that gets more and more conservative due to a state legislature that, due to gerrymandering, gets more and more radical. It also pushes moderate voices out, which is how people like Ron DeSantis can get elected.

This. I honestly didn't know he had Turkish citizenship. I don't think anyone with a state level or higher position should be allowed to serve while being the citizen of another country.

I'm pretty sure the US doesn't recognize dual-citizenship with Turkey. Turkey does accept dual citizenship from citizens of other countries. My wife is Turkish and is "dual citizenship" as well as my elder daughter, who was born in the USA.

That's probably how it is with him too

Trump and the GOP have done a masterful job of spooking voters in Miami dade. They have been inundated with all those shit on social media that if democrats win their children will be abducted and people will be raped in the streets.

The US doesn’t recognize any dual nationals. The passport you travel on is the citizenship we recognize.

It’s not illegal to have multiple passports for different countries but the US only recognizes one.

For Oz, if he travels on his Turkish passport then as far as the US is concerned he’s a Turk and not a US citizen. When he returns if he enters the US with his US passport then he’s a US citizen and nothing else.

Dems shouldn't give up on FL but at the same time they shouldn't put resources there at the expense of some other races. WI, NC and OH are closer.

EDIT: 538 latest Senate projects:

Dems have a 67% chance of retaining the Senate (as of 1pm 8/29.) Below are the top 5 outcomes in descending %:

Still the election isn't today so all of the races are still possible for either party.

I wouldn’t say that. Masters is a desperate guy in his 30’s whose losing badly and just throwing anything at the wall to see what sticks. He’s probably down 8-10 points at least.

he’s not a typical senate Republican candidate either. Most of them are old, white, and in their 60’s at least.

The GOP is quickly learning that many of their senate candidates have to adopt a hybrid abortion stance. They will say they're personally against abortion but they 100% will not support a national ban on abortion. Their policy will be that it should be left to the state legislators and therefore their only role as a US Senator will be to prevent a national law on the subject.

the anti-abortion voters may be unhappy about the GOP refusing a national ban but acceptable.

Politically this is the best option for the GOP. You still piss off a few extremes but is more palatable in the suburbs.

What’s done is done. Roe vs wade being struck down speaks for itself. I don’t think any voter with a functioning brain is going to fall for those ruse. It reminds me of all the flip flopping mitt Romney did in 2012.

What do you guys think of dem candidates refusing to campaign with dark Brandon?

I’m assuming it’s because Swing district Democrats are trying to make inroads with Trump voters. Tim Ryan for example is going all in on red and rural Ohio. Appearing alongside Biden in a swing district (or swing state) doesn't serve that purpose.

For the states in play, Biden isn't necessarily the most popular so why bring him in? It works both ways in that you will most likely not see Trump in the senate swing states as well.

It's not a gotcha that Dems don't want an unpopular president to stay away. GA GOP pleaded with Trump to stay away from the Senate race in 2020, and Trump basically elected 2 Dem senators in GA with his actions and rhetoric. Warnock wouldn't have won if Trump had accepted his loss.

Mental masturbation that ignores the effect of the Dobbs decision.

It's not going away. It's in the news every day because the GOP can't stop fucking that abortion goat.

It looks like Obama and Trump have one thing in common. They both were abysmal at getting their voters to the polls in midterms. I know Trump isn’t president right now, but he still has a presidential like influence over the GOP.

I think the GOP has an enthusiasm problem right now. Hopefully we don’t poke the bear and wake them up before November.

they also have a numbers problem and they know it, that's why they're trying to game the system. they know they will be permanently in the minority if they don't.
