Just thinking outside the box here.  Wouldn't it behoove Fox to have the Dems win by a narrow margin to keep their fear campaign intact?  The Rs are already seeing the dog catching the car with the repeal of Roe.  Their entire existence is built on fear.  If they keep winning too much, their rubes will maybe get disinterested?

They literally get off on lying to their base or constituents. After the disastrous 2010 midterm for dems, the GOP rallying cry was “ give us the senate and we will repeal Obamacare!”. After 2014, the GOP rallying cry was “ we need the presidency! Obama has vetoed all 100 of our attempts to veto Obamacare. GOP anger and hate was at its highest. I mean how dare a black president govern with his phone and pen. How dare Obama go against the bullshit that came from their 99% white caucus.

In 2016, the GOP had all 3 branches of government and shit the bed. All of the folks who donated to help the GOP win congress and get the GOP to gut Obamacare were duped.

In 2018, these same people were totally ok with president trump governing with just a phone and his pen despite getting angry about it just 4 years ago.

That’s the sad and pathetic existence of being a GOP donor / Trump voter. You’re constantly lied too by the side that you supposedly trust. The GOP media spends all their time trying to make you angry, pissed off, and a deeply skeptical / bitter person. These people are angry and miserable as fuck even when they win. I guess it’s not surprising that they would go along with something like “stop the steal”. These are exactly the kind of people who are not capable of facing their problems head on and accepting defeat like a man.

It’s stuff like this that makes it possible for the Dems to enlarge their territory in the Senate:

has suggested that Social Security and Medicare be eliminated as federal entitlement programs, and that they should instead become programs approved by Congress on an annual basis as discretionary spending.

Those who work in the United States pay Social Security and Medicare taxes that go into federal trust funds. Upon retirement, based on a person’s lifetime earnings and other factors, a retiree is eligible to receive monthly Social Security payments. Similarly, Medicare is the federal health insurance program that kicks in for people 65 and older, or for others who have disabilities.

Preparing reactions based on senate race outcomes:

GOP wins 53 or more (meaning they likely take GA, NV, PA, and AZ) : “It’s the end of the world.  Literally.”

GOP wins 51-52: “We.  Are.  Fucked.  For at least 6 years but probably longer.”

GOP wins 50: “They elected Herschel Fucking Walker.  We aren’t fucked forever but obviously Trumpism/stupidity isn’t going anywhere.”

Dems win 51: “ok.”

Dems win 52: “This is a pretty good indication that America is waking up.”

Dems win 53:  “America is waking up.”

Dems win 54 or more (including McMillan): “America is awake.” (This would likely mean Dems win the House as well.)

To me, Walker or Oz winning means big trouble.  Flipping one of the WI, NC, or OH seats would be good signs that Trumpism is in real decline.  Flipping UT or FL means a new day is dawning and we are leaving that horrible shit behind.

I’m hoping it changes in a more blue direction, but I’d predict the dems to win 51 senate seats if the election was today. We’ve already discussed earlier in the thread why that is an acceptable if not “good” outcome due to the dems being in power and another 2 years to appoint judges.

The next big indication of the political environment is the house race in New York on Tuesday. Both parties are trying to win it and want to receive a momentum boost going into the fall.

There's plenty of rich, racist chucklefucks out there to write checks.

None of them as prominent or consistent as old Sheldon. Where are these gop check writers now?  It’s to the point where they are canceling lots of ads and not advertising how they want too. You’d think someone would step in.

Or they are writing checks but Rick Scott steals it all.

Al Franken had to resign from the Senate for doing mock sexual photos with people at MN state fairgrounds while Senator and through his years not as an elected leader, the loudest claim being a USO sketch show two years before he was in Senate where he kissed the comedienne in rehearsal. In 2018. When Donald Trump was our President.

Yeah and people still say shit about Cal Cunningham. Instead of chastising Cunningham, maybe we should be asking why cheating on your wife is a career ender for Dems, but Pubs can do whatever the fuck they want with zero backlash from the voters.

you can be mad there are different rules for different people (and lose the election), or you can just follow them and win.

I've never understood this. Republicans are supposed to be the party of morals and religion yet they fully accept adultery, sexual assault and all other manner of malfeasance. It has always amazed me how hypocritical the GOP is and no one calls them out on it.

Everyone calls them out about it. They just don’t give a fuck. The real question is why Democrats stay on their back foot like they only got one.

The trouble is the GQP think the MAL raid represents a threat to democracy to this country -- that's a part of that number, not just the J6 thing and other things Republicans are threatening.

This.  They showed this poll to start out Meet the Press this morning.  I guarantee if you split out that 21% into R and D it would be 50/50 and for entirely different reasons.  Half of this country believes in a false reality.

Turtle McConnell recently pumped about $30 million into the Ohio senate race for JD Vance. Tim Ryan might not win, but he will help other democrats by sucking up what looks to be scarce campaign funds for the GOP. The GOP has recently canceled ad buys in states like Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada.

SS and Medicare would be renewed each year by congress? I wouldn’t want to put that level of trust into the hands of our politicians each year.

recategorizing the expense as discretionary would also allow the gop to ignore that SS requires additional funding next decade.

The whole point is to cancel it and push those funds to grifters. Probably 80% of MAGtards are on one or both and they will cheer. Face eating leopard party or something.

They want another tool to blame the democrats and put pressure on them to agree to other items that Rs want to pass. Gov shut down, dems fault even no Rs voted to pass it

I read it as Laxalt is claiming he's leading in a shitty poll, which is like Alabama claiming a national championship because they won the Rotary Club of Bugtussle poll in 1947.

How else do you get to claim 26 time national champs or whatever bullshit number their up to now.  Would make even an aggy blush.
