Nashville explosion

I know, Reddit has a checkered past with their speculation on bombings (I.e., Boston marathon), but there was a good theory by somebody. Apparently the truck was in the middle of the street. Gunshots heard beforehand. Maybe the perps got into an argument on the way to the real target, shot at each other, then abandoned the truck setting the timer before running away.

Wild speculation, but it would explain some of the weirdness

I just figured the “shots fired” calls were fake to lure the cops to the location.

I think the loud speaker and timer kinda rule that theory out. Unless they were going for a specific member of the bomb squad, it seems pretty clear that loss of life was not the intended result. I believe there were also several people who claimed to have heard the gunshots.

That brings back memories. In the early 90s I was part of a National Guard unit based in and near Asheville NC. At one point word came down that we were supposed to protect the area from unrest and/or terrorist attacks (never happened. Y'all are welcome.)

This translated into several of us getting the school-boy tour of the big telephone building downtown where they showed us whatever was 1990s phone technology. Me always thinking like a criminal, I asked all the impolite questions, and it turned out that if you wanted to knock out the phones of 1990s Asheville NC, all you needed was a deer rifle and a nice spot over on Town Mountain, if you knew which window to aim at.

The other thing I remember was that we were told not to use tear gas on theoretical protestors because that was a bit extreme. [/csb]

It’ll come out this was a Die Hard inspired fake terrorist act to provide cover for a robbery. Has anyone checked up on the Country Music Hall of Fame? The Toby Keith collection may be a target.

That's a good theory, but folks can just buy that collection at their local Cracker Barrel

I’m an hour from Nashville. All AT&T cell service, some landline phone and internet are down. Just went down about an hour ago.

It’s shutdown the 911 lines in some areas.

I feel like with the intentional timing (6:30 AM on Christmas Day) and the recorded warning were deliberately chosen to minimize injuries and loss of life.

Now the 911 lines and cell service is out?

Someone is pulling some Ocean’s 11 shit right now.

I think the Toby Keith collection was the original target of the bomb and something went wrong.

The fact that toby keith is in the hall of fame is way more sad than people eating Christmas dinner at Hooters.

No way the vehicle and suspects are not on a camera somewhere....can they be identified is a whole different question but I guarantee they are on tape and the tracing has begun.

Just wait until the self-driving vehicles are really ubiquitous...

It's a bunch of neckbeards alone on Xmas morning in their shitstained underwear throwing out whatever scenario they can dream up in their head. 'Checkered past' is an understatement.

This is the block that has Dick's Last Resort AND Hooters

Some folks will need a plan C for Christmas dinner

A few Christmases ago I was planning on going to Alamo for dinner and a movie with two of my cousins. Girl cousin took way to long to get ready and we didn't make the movie. Being Christmas night the other showtimes were sold out but we were able to find a showing at another theater for 10:00. We had some time to kill and were hungry for dinner and literally the only place we could find open was a Hooters. The people eating Christmas dinner and Hooters that night were the saddest group of people I've seen assembled.

I imagine you don't get the A list waitstaff on Christmas day. I imagine a lot of lopsided titties and muffin tops. I'd be sad, too.
