Random thoughts that don't warrant a thread

I recently saw a car with a sticker on its rear windshield that read "Not all handicaps are visible" or similar. I imagine that person has probably been accosted by well-meaning but incorrect parking spot hall monitors.

Or maybe they're an extremely clever and lazy asshole.

Whether the car is eligible for handicap parking is the responsibility of the medical professionals and state authority. They give the placard and it gets registered in the system, against which the license readers check. No need to rely on rando judgement of the physical appearance of driver

Now you have a hang tag problem, where license plates don’t apply.

I offered that aside mostly in reference to your initial claim that you encountered someone abusing the handicapped spots, not as a criticism of the mechanisms of your proposed surveillance scheme.

They had no visible placard or logo on the plate. This was a walgreens abuser.

It sounds like you're almost certainly correct, but my only point was that it can sometimes be very difficult to visually determine whether a stranger is acceptably handicapped.

Easiest way is an ou or aggie sticker on the back. Mentally handicapped anyway.

Issuance of temporary placard should be done digitally and issued to the plate.

Sure, but now you need to take your elderly mother to an appointment, so she grabs her hang tag.

Legit use, but can’t log every tag number it can be used with.

If you can operate a motor vehicle, you can reassociate your tag with a mobile phone in 30 seconds.

Thats how long it takes a teenager in america to send virtual payment to livestream a dutch girls butthole.

technology can solve all this. The only impediment is it involving the government.

My dad called last night to shoot the shit. I asked him if he planned to watch the CFP game, he said "No, but I hope Michigan loses. I hate them." , which is odd, because he doesn't usually give a shit, plus he's from Indiana. He's always been a B10 guy. So I ask him why the hate?

He proceeds to tell me about a guy he used to work with AT LEAST 45 years ago. Said the guy was a "huge asshole" and was from Michigan. Then says the guy ran out on his wife and kids to be with another woman, and took the washer/dryer too "How was she supposed to wash the kid's clothes??". I couldn't believe he had been sitting on this story for so long, it was hlilarious.

So if any of you know an old man from Michigan in his 70s named Dave Sheets, tell him he's an asshole.

Well, since the kid born in the 70s is undoubtably a raging ahole, he probably posts on here.

I know a Larry Sheets from Michigan.  He had a brother named Dave.  Played baseball for the Orioles at some point in the 1980's.  I could talk to him about replacing the lady's washer/dryer if that's any help.  Trying to be kinder in 2024 as part of a resolution with myself and God.

His name is Dave Sheets and your father is surprised he took the washer/dryer when he left? There's an entire thread about asshole stuff like that here:

Why is it that Chripractors can be called "Doctor" when they don't actually have near the same medical training of an Osteopath, G.P. doctor, etc.?

Heck, that dentist being maligned has to go through "regular" med school. Chiro's? Nope.

My brother in laws car blew a coolant hose on the road, close to home.

Its super cold outside so we figure he could just limp it back with the cabin heat on high. He had the idea of propping his hood open so the engine bay can get some extra cooling while in the move.

Im following behind him with my hazards on.  We’re rolling down a hill and he greedily picks up all the free speed until….WHAP…the hood flips its shit all up on the windshield.

Shitty sunday for him but also slightly hilarious.

It is weird watching adult, in real life and in real time, either sing the "how many days in each month" song or do the finger counting thing to remember how many days are in January.  After a certain number of decades on this planet hurtling around the sun, you just know intuitively how many days are in each month without having a hum a tune in public.  I mean, yeah maybe a friendly reminder that this is a Leap Year so February gets promoted to 29...but otherwise-da fuh?

I am also in awe of adults this year at the holidays said with a straight face, "I like that Thanksgiving is always on a Thursday because you get the 4-day weekend, but Christmas Eve being always on a Sunday, you get robbed of taking that day off."  I get that most Americans can't wrap their heads around perpetual calendars, but if Christmas Eve was always on a Sunday, I think we'd all know that since childhood.  I wonder what they think of the coincidence that Independence Day always falls on the 4th of July?

Years ago, a friend of ours went to a chiro because of pain. She was 19-20 and extremely good looking. He told her her uterus was out of alignment and he needed to adjust it. He didn't say what instrument he was going to use but she decided to get out as fast as she could.

Thanks for ruining "Chiropractic Porn" for me, asshole!  Is that thread still around?  Asking for a friend.  Between the yoga pants and the loud popping noises, I really enjoyed it.

I think it's mostly bullshit, but I have some friends and family that have genuinely benefited from it.  I'm a big medical skeptic and have still used that heat deal they have to get rid of kinks in my neck.  But then again, it's like massage or sauna, you have to keep coming back over and over again for any real improvement so it's a money machine for them.  I've heard some stories about chiropractors (wife's childhood best friend has a huge practice just north of Austin), but I've never heard "I can tell from your T7 vertebrate, that your lady parts aren't lined up right...let's take a closer feel and breathe out for me."  I think we just forget, politics aside, that the biggest abusers of women and children aren't strangers in vans or drag show hosts, but people that come as their friends or caregivers.

I need one of those stickers. I might be limping that day and I might not. What those assholes don't realize is that most of the time I get in the store I'm hurting so bad I have to stop several times just to slip my prosthesis off several times and wait until the pain abates.  Also my afib and congestive heart failure don't show.

Chiropractors get the reputation for being quacks. In my personal experience, dentists are just as guilty of that label.

Chiropractors are not quacks. Mine has been amazing, any bone and body misalignment pain is gone after 2-3

2-3, what?  Happy Endings?  Heroin binges?  Dammit man, use your words!
...decades of weekly visits.

Chiro's are really just interested in long term clients, IMO.

Decades ago I was a lowly assistant in a hospital for the Physical Therapy department. They would not accept any referral from a chiro office if said patient had been seen by the ChiroQuacktic more than 2×.

in my experience, a little over half are perfectly fine with a transactional visit.  you want an adjustment? okay fine bing bang done.

the other half is soooo transparent in wanting to drag out their bullshit.  heyyyy we need to do this next week, lets schedule every thursday from now on and twice on tuesday okay?

Agreed.  I've seen both kinds.  If the doc/staff immediately tells you that you need a 3-12 month treatment plan, you're in the wrong place.

On the other hand, I periodically get lower back spasms, the kind where you're leaning over to pick something up and BAM, it seizes up and you're on the floor.  Without a chiro visit, I'm in deep trouble for at least a couple of weeks.  With the chiro, I can get moving again quickly (2-3 days).  I've found a good guy in Tyler that is completely transactional--he'll treat it, give me some pointers on stretching/strengthening, and doesn't need to see me again until I have an issue.

My friend is a lawyer for an insurance company. He said chiropractors are all quacks and they get easily torn apart when brought in to be “expert” witnesses.
