I don’t disagree on that. But if for some reason KU was ever going to leave the Big 12, that was the logical landing point because the B1G and SEC don’t want to dilute their football brands with a mid program with few accomplishments.

The Big 12 should absolutely own their status as the premier MBB conference instead of trying to force their way into the CFB adult table

When Maryland left the ACC, KU should’ve been all over that as their replacement. But again, nobody wanted them.

ACC wasn't any better and didn't pay its members more than the Big 12 at the time. The only difference is their marginal, ESPN-sponsored, ACC Network. ACC = Big 12

Also Maryland join the B1G in 2014. KU was in a stretch of 3-9, 2-10, 1-11, 3-9, 3-9 in the Gill/Weis era. Nobody wanted them and football rules the day

Now with Leopold might be a different story. 10 years ago? No way

Little bit Leachian, whose most famous meltdown on his team came following a win.

I immediately thought about his locker room rant.

"The mighty 11-2 team.  That not one of their fuckin' plays count this year."

And everyone knew (and knows) that the top brands are going to leave soon. Why would KU put themselves in the same position of a conference that could collapse at any moment? Not to mention, if they had joined back then, they'd probably be making less than what they do now in the Big XII after the FSU-Clem settlement which gives them more revenue and everyone else less. I doubt their basketball program would put them in the class of increased revenue under their new setup.

In the year of our lord, 2025? No fucking way would I join the ACC from the Big 12.

10 years ago, though, if they got asked to join the ACC after Maryland left, I bet they would have jumped.  Or thought about it very hard.
