I like how aggy discounts Pig, as they haven’t played them in Fayettnam since the good ole SWC days! They finally escape Jerry World and do a Home/Home going forward next season.

Hook’em!!!

I can only hope Sark and the Horns are just relentless against aggy until time is off the clock! I’m talking a 40+ margin of victory, similar to Tech and OSU to end last season’s B12.

UT is objectively a far superior team at almost every position.

But it’s a rivalry game. Just as with the RRR, throw recruiting rankings and records out the window. Strange things happen. I’ll love it if UT wins in a walk because I love Aggie tears. But I will not be at all surprised at a nail-biter.

Haha these redneck fuckfaces always deliver the lulz. So obsessed with our schedule as they come off a beatdown at the hands of South Carolina and gear up to play *checks notes* New Mexico State.

Losing by 15 is a beat down, embarrassing, and getting rolled.

Losing by 24, is just a setback.

Never change aggy.

Friendly reminder that UF was actually MORE "depleted" when they played aggy (top SIX DBs out) back on 9/14 at every position outside of QB - and in way, QB wasn't much better because UF was still doing the rotating silliness

You see, if we beat them early in the season they were just putting it together and not the same team they were later in the season. However, if we beat them later in the season they were depleted from the sec grind.

Heads I win, tails you lose, but for aggy.

This is actually completely untrue historically in this game. The favorite wins an overwhelming majority of the time.

My view on why that occurs is that this game does not sneak up on anyone.

For a decade all we heard from aggy was about the grind of a full SEC schedule, how it depleted the roster and tested a team's depth - how Texas was lucky to play in the much softer Big 12 and would never be able to stand up to the SEC gauntlet.  Now, they're complaining because Texas is healthier and deeper than the teams we play.

Not only that, team seems like it's been healther than it was for the last several years in the Big 12, aside from RBs we lost before the season even started. I'm kinda liking the SEC grind.

I think there's something to be said for not being the jihad game for every team on the schedule. Florida players, for instance, are less likely to whip themselves into a frenzy to play us than every team in the legacy Big 12 and the same goes for most of the schools we play now. You don't hear a bunch of big bad Texas quotes from opposing players/coaches midweek.

In our place, they would have taken our "second half victory" as proof they were better than Georgia by the end of the game.

I've seen posts where they note that Florida winning the second half against Texas has meaning.

Intellectual gymnastics is not an apt hobby for the intellectually disabled.

Sark’s first experience in genuine rivalry games at Texas has been less than stellar. Got pantsed by Arlie and blew a big lead against OU. This is the only thing that has me mildly concerned about the A&M game. Hopefully the people that have his ear let him know that A&M on the road for Texas is quite different than it was for Bama. Feel like he’s underestimated the nature of our rivalries before he’s experienced them. Add in the fact that we recruit a lot more outside of the state now, and it could sneak up on them. Although, both  also apply to A&M’s players. None of these kids or coaches have really experienced the rivalry before, so it’s kind of new all around.

We pretty much predicted that was going to happen with the change in conferences.   No longer can coaches salvage their season with a single win by maintaining a singular focus on one game.  Heck, it is starting to look like Georgia might have been over-preparing for Texas and failed to put in enough work for other teams and address their fundamental flaws.

Yeah. It was weird having the coach of the dominant national team for the last five years breathlessly celebrating as though he'd just unseated the VY or Colt McCoy teams.

I'll add that pitiful defense cost us that OU game not under-preparation for a rivalry game. It looked like we went into a watered-down victory D which created a slow motion horror I never want to contemplate again.

We've also got more at stake now where any loss is critical. I'm sure we'll be ready for the Aggies.

Valid but that 2021 roster does not come close to what we currently have in the fold (Card and Thompson lolololol kill me).  I understand why the anxiety exists, but I actually take those losses in 2021 as a notch in Sark's belt that has helped refine/build culture and set the standard for how they should show up in these situations.

Plenty of us knew the Arkansas idiots would consider that game a jihad experience, but that allegedly wasn't a pervasive theme inside of the program at the time. Sarkisian pushed back on feedback about it being a special game to Arkansas and paid the price, including feedback from the powers that be around the program. He'd coached against them at Bama and didn't respect much about their program. Go back and look at clips during that game and he's got a 1000 yard stare and looks to be in a state of shock, just like his shitty QB at the time. No doubt he and the program didn't understand that rivalry.

That said, there's no comparison with ATM. That game is "in your face" for everyone, and the schools are separated by a few hours of driving. We all hear about it all of the time, it's a constant drumbeat of forecasts and discussions nationally with guys like Doering picking ATM already, and there isn't a big money player who is going to get pushback from Sarkisian about this game who isn't going to snap him back to reality, real fast. I'm not worried about Sarkisian or the team being ready for this one. He has spoken about ATM as a force to be thwarted as an existential threat to roster acquisition and management for the last 3 years in private conversations.

The OU game and the Arkansas game will always be driven by emotions, often wild ones. The ATM has never really felt that way. The better team on paper just usually wins. I'd love to see Texas win the next two games while ATM chokes on the road against Auburn and the match-up is 10-1 vs 8-3, but if ATM wins out as well, it will be a top 10 matchup and one of the most hyped games of the season. It's not sneaking up on anyone either way.

OU is in week 4 or 5, and arky historically the week after in swc but more recently as part of the first month no -conference games.  There’s still some uncertainty about how good the teams are and maybe some preconceived ideas still working their way out.

a&m has always been the last game on the schedule so we know pretty much what each team is and is going to be.  That makes betting odds and outcome predictions more accurate, I’d guess which in turn leads to fewer upsets.

Remember that UT still needs to play another game in Fayettenam, with a crowd that consider this another jihad game, before going out to CS. UT should win this convincingly, but Arky is going to be in full holy war mode.

Not that I’d want to go through it, but it would be funny if they beat us and then lost in the ccg and we got into the ass end of the playoffs at 10-2 while they miss them at 10-3.

But in reality I think the committee would look for a way to keep us both out in that scenario, if there was a suitable other team that met their primary goal of eyeballs.

Arkansas can be in "jihad mode" all they want.  If they play pass defense like they did against Ole Miss then I expect an ass whipping by our WR's.

I think everyone on this board is aware of who is on our schedule Saturday and remembers the 2021 game.

We joined the SEC and our SOS literally got easier.

Texas' 2021 SOS - 31st (A&M was 52nd)

Texas' 2022 SOS - 24th (A&M was 25th)

Texas' 2023 SOS - 12th (A&M was 20th)

Texas' 2024 SOS - 55th (A&M is 21st, but they have to play us and we can't play ourselves...)

Lol “A&M with several good wins would get left out but tu with zero ranked wins would get left in!”

A&M’s two ranked wins are against LSU and Missouri, both of which can charitably be described as paper tigers.  Their margin of victory for their next two biggest wins — Arkansas and Florida — were 4pts and 13 pts respectively.

To play devil's advocate, Texas does miss seven of the current top-nine teams in the SEC (Tenn, ourselves, Ole Miss, Alabama, Missouri, LSU, and SCarolina). We do have any easier conference schedule this season. However, A&M does too.

True, but that doesn't explain A&M's relatively weak SOS despite playing the vaunted SEC West.

My point is that the concept of an "SEC grind" being somehow worse than any other conference's grind is bullshit. The week-to-week isn't what makes the SEC a hard conference, it's the fact that you have an absolute juggernaut waiting for you at some point, who can expose your weaknesses, hurt your players, and potentially fuck your season. The Big 12 was probably harder week-to-week, but we didn't have to play a Bama or a Georgia.

Even still, Texas went out and scheduled those big teams (Bama, LSU, USC) anyway in our OOC. Because we aren't pussies. Unlike A&M, who schedules schools like Nevada and Prairie View.

You kind of just answered that question though.

1. SEC teams play (and have played) only 8 conference games.

2. A&M's OOC schedule has pretty much been ass since they've joined the SEC.

Those two factors bring down the SOS.

As it pertains to this season, Texas' OOC schedule ending up being pretty poor in reality, whereas ND is ranked highly. We both have easy SEC schedules.

Tennessee plays 7 of the same 8 conference teams that we do. The difference is they played Alabama at home and we play aggy on the road.

I guess I'm not sure what this was responding to. Texas and A&M both have much easier SEC schedules this season in comparison to many other top teams. I guess Tennessee does too. This is one of the downsides of a 16-team conference, especially one with only eight conference games - there's absolutely no scheduling parity. This year and next, it appears to highly benefit Texas and A&M. For everyone else, good thing the SEC will get four teams in the playoff.

These schedules were planned this way by the sec- worse record over past 10 seasons got easier schedule and vice versa.  Had to make the schedule somehow.

Must be that Snakey protecting us! He'll single-handedly flip those games next year where we never have to leave Austin.

Yes, I raised a question and then answered it. It's a rhetorical device.

My original point was that Texas' schedule in the SEC is easier than it was in the Big 12, despite claims (mostly from A&M fans) that we had it easy in the Big 12. I think everyone understands why our SOS is easier this year, but the irony is still humorous and reflects poorly on A&M fans.

That's what happens when you play at the end of the season. The favorite has a full season's worth of data behind it. Also, A&M and Texas are rarely both on a roll when they play. Typically, one is up while the other is reverting to the median.
