"One other defensive target also has a planned announcement this coming week as well. Blairstown (N.J.) Blair Academy defensive end David Ojabo has set a date of Mon., July 2 for his commitment. From Scotland".

OMG, the gomers get a sheep shepherd in a kilt? The jokes keep writing themselves.

They need attrition to take this big of a class. They have a small graduating class. 10 to 15 upperclassmen will asked to transfer

Seniors

Daylon Mack, Donovan Wilson, Deshawn Capers Smith, Riley Garner, Daniel Lacamera, Otaro Alaka, Landis Durham, Connor Lanfear, Keaton Sutherland, Kingsley Keke,

Cullen Gillespia, Kwami Etwi (meh, don’t remember. Thought these guys were walk ons)

Austin Fry, Landry Estes ( definitely not on scholarship)

So that’s 10 seniors.  Maybe 12

2018 - 23

2017  - 28

2016 -  20

Totals 71

14 spots for 2019

if they are taking the class they want of 25 to 28, that means 10 to 15 dudes getting the chop.

Jerry Schmidt will take care of this.

Five big announcements: Which players will choose Texas A&M?

BRIAN PERRONI 85 seconds ago

There are five big announcements in the next few days that all involve Texas A&M. Here is the latest on each one.

-Virginia Beach (Va.) Bishop Sullivan defensive tackle Adarious Jones is set to make his commitment on Saturday at 1 p.m. Central. The 6-foot-3, 280-pound defender looks very likely to be headed out of state. In fact, out of all the prospects mentioned, he is the one I'm most confident ends up at Texas A&M.

Jones plays just about everything for Bishop Sullivan but he has the frame to be a quick three-tech and that's who the Aggies see him. It is very likely that the standout defender eschews Virginia Tech for A&M and is on the commitment list by early afternoon. Jones has some athleticism that is not necessarily on the roster at this point and he could end up being the steal of the class.

-Though he has not set an exact date, Memphis (Tenn.) Lausanne four-star running back Eric Gray will be announcing at The Opening. The nation's No. 3 all-purpose back included Texas A&M in his final five.

While the Aggies did a good job on his unofficial visit back in late May, Gray's official visit to Michigan last weekend looks to have sealed the deal for the Wolverines. Barring a major suprise, I expect him to announce for Michigan.

-Blairstown (N.J.) Blair Academy defensive end David Ojabo is one of the most intriguing prospects in the country as he is new to football after moving to the States from Scotland. His offer list reflects his potential. The 6-foot-3.5, 233-pound defender will announce his commitment on Monday.

Ojabo visited A&M unofficially earlier this month as he was on a whirlwind tour of schools all around the country. The Aggies have done a good job with him but, like Gray, I expect him to end up committing to Michigan. Whether he still takes official visits when his parents are in the country for an extended period this fall is still a question, though.

-Houston Madison cornerback Bobby Wolfe was originally set to commit today but, due to the logistics of the announcement, pushed things back to Tue., July 3. This is an A&M/Arkansas battle. Though the Razorbacks made things very, very interesting, I still expect him to choose the Aggies.

Wolfe, who was committed to A&M earlier this spring before opening things up, was blown away by the trip to Fayetteville and there was a reason there was some surprising confidence coming from that camp. However, one of the Arkansas Crystal Ball predictions has already flipped to A&M with the announcement nearing. The Aggies do not have a cornerback committed yet so landing Wolfe is huge.

-The run of announcements ends with a July 4 commitment by Fort Bend Bush four-star cornerback Erick Young. The finalists are A&M, Ohio State, Oklahoma and USC, though it is pretty telling that he has only officially visited A&M and USC.

Young and Wolfe had once been insistent that they would play together before backing off those statements a bit this spring. Though they each made their own decision, I expect both of them to choose the Aggies this week. Young plans to completely shut things down once he announces as well

I don't follow recruiting as much as most of y'all, but I did properly predict that the Cupp kid would end up in Lucci's top 10.
Shocked that he is ranked ahead of Johnson some how.
Surprised that Whittington is still on the list at all.

Good job on the prediction, but it wasn't a stretch by any means..

You shouldn't be shocked, look at past looch 44's

Not surprised he's still on the list, (even Looch isn't that transparently dumb) but surprised he hasn't dropped like a rock. I'm sure he will after the HS season gets rolling. Look for aggy commits and uncommitted targets aggy really wants to rise no matter what they do on the field this season..

I mean, hes probably expecting a lot of attrition. But half his class is bread. Hed be replacing upperclass bread with freshman bread, and then expecting THEM to play and win. Its absolutely looking like a recipe for disaster.
I actually think hes going to have less attrition than he expects. Where do some of those owns think theyre transferring to? Bet plenty want to ride that scholly the way Candi rides 20 year old pole.
How does one reverse cowgirl a scholarship? Asking for a friend of a friend.

It's a D. The left side is cornered while the right side is rounded. Shows you how careless they are under Sumlin. They need somebody new.

But why did they use the possessive?

That Kevin Rumlin sig is some funny shit.  Way to aggy it up, aggy.

Loses a point for equating frame to speed, but makes it up by using a $12 word! Jones' ennui while in Blackburg led to the eschewment (French ezz shew maw). No jejune use of baseball argot makes Perroni a candidate for the 9.95 Nobel Laureate Designation. Huzzah!

We went through this last year, they have plenty of time to get that number down by next fall camp, it shouldn't be a problem

It was a very nice piece of accoutrement

For Jimbo's model to work, he needs to land elite defensive talent across the board, QBs who are advanced passers coming into college, and stud OL. He's been about 50/50 on the first part, has landed projects with big arms as his first two QBs, and has loaded up on guards and swing guys outside of Green on OL. He's not going to be able to just out-talent everyone in the SEC west like he was able to do against the down ACC.

His first full class is more similar to Orgeron's than Herman's, even if he's able to keep his top commits in the fold after a terrible season, which is by no means a lock.
