Sark is the one offering the product. We should get a better product. Seriously what are you even talking about at this point?

I'm not sure how you don't see it. Texas just doesn't get top tier dudes with any regularity Hobbes. It's not a Sark thing, it's an US thing. I mean offensively. Ohio State, Georgia, Bama have DUDES every year. Our best receiver all time? Roy Williams? Think about OSU or Bamas best receivers. Sure we've had Ricky, Bijan, and Charles. I'm not sure why it happens but we just don't get the dudes these other teams have man. Sure Sark has his flaws but something else is going on as to why we cannot and have not been able to land top tier talent on both sides of ball. We can get rid of this coach and the next coach will face the same issue.

Once we fielded the offense we have we were always going to end up here. We can't sustain drives, and so our defense is exposed for way longer than a D should be. Defense is like a puzzle, and the more cracks you get at it the better chance you get at solving it. They had the ball for 35 minutes. We had 15 first downs and 2 of 12 on 3rd. As long as we keep trotting out this offense this kind of thing is going to happen. We just aren't very good.

OK, but in this game we were only about 2 min difference in TOP when the 4th quarter started and we gave up 2 4th downs on the drive to get to 21 and then the onside kick happened.  The D could have helped themselves on the 2 4th downs.

In this particular game TOP wasn't really the issue.  I think we had a similar number of plays(60 to 64) even with the onside kick.  we had massive coverage busts.

yes, Sark unwillingness to fix and commit to the run dooms us because we can't trust our receivers to make critical plays(even rote catches are about 70%).  next year will tell the tale.

if the play count is similar, there are so many commercials now if your D can't be fresh you have a conditioning issue unless it is something close 40 to 20.

We've lost 3 ball games. Two of them to teams better than us. We lost three ball games last year. All 3 to the only two teams who recruited better than us. We just aren't finding a way to beat teams that are more talented than we are. It's as simple as that. Arch is a 5 star. Well, so is Georgia's QB. Georgia is executing better than we are because they are better than we are. You guys pissed about us losing to Georgia after watching us this first part of the season blow my mind.

There's not some massive gap between us and OSU/UGA in recruiting. We're consistently top 5 and had the #1 class last year. We also (allegedly) have the most expensive roster in the country. Point being, we have the resources to win at least some of these games. If you want to argue that our talent level isn't actually what the recruiting rankings say it is, then we have a problem with evaluation and development. Either way Sark is falling short.

He seems like an okay human but I wasn't keen on him when hired. I kept trying to buy in and admit I've smoked some hopium a few times but shit like Ewers performance, RZ issues, 3rd quarter collapse, lack of adjustments kept bringing up angst and frustration.

Then watching the offensive debacles against OSU, Kentucky, and MSU put me in a very twitchy place. I took one big last hit of Copium hoping he'd pull his shit together and Georgia happened.

All that said, I'm not sure I would describe what he's done here as overperformed. I get the gist of what you're saying but, I think it's more like his ineptitude was obscured by the systemic advantages and now they have been fully exposed. I also acknowledge this is essentially semantics and at the base line think we agree on the topic. Phrasing.

English - how do it work? You can execute but you don't... more of  an oxymoron than a reason.

Maybe go back to practice versus game? I don't know what the practices are like, but they must be toally without the slightest real game level physicality, because apparently the coaches think they are executable... despite having never seen it work in games all season long.

Yessir, we gotta call something - but that doesn't mean using the plays that work once in every ten tries.

This is why Sark = Jason Garrett. No matter who the players are, the scheme stays exactly the same. Doesn't adapt to the strengths of the current players. This offense isn't the same as the last 2 years under Quinn. Arch and Quinn are different styles, yet our offense is exactly the same. Hell even under Quinn, he was having him do things that weren't his strengths. Sark has one single offensive model and any incoming players will have to play in it with no adjustments being made.

which is why he needs to go to the NFL and we need a real college head coach.

One of the games I watched earlier in the season, the broadcast team was talking about Craver.

They said Will Lee told the coaches last season that Craver was difficult to cover. When Craver entered the portal, they went and got him.

No luck involved.  Just first-person review of his skills.

Ask the players. “Who gave you the most trouble that is now in the portal?”

Very excited we've reached the point where A&M and Tech fans are emboldened to amplify every meaningless anecdote as proof of process. Does your research tell you we should buy a ping pong table or a foosball table to build unity this offseason?

Sark coached top 4 playoff teams in consecutive year, so obviously everything he was doing was good process UNTIL this season.

If our head coach is going to call plays and be offensive focused, there’s no excuse to be struggling to score points. I would almost rather have the Lincoln Riley/OWho situation where we score 50 every game but our defense sucks. If the defense is going to be the strength of our team every year then sark needs to get lost.

at 14-10 I was thinking we were right in line with the usual one score loss.  21-17, 24-17 or something like that.  then the 2 4th downs, coverage busts, and the onside kick and blowout ensues.

It’s hilarious to me that we still have fans who can’t see that sark is a fucking fraud. A glorified oc that is clueless on all the little details that separate good coaches from great ones.
Kirby is a master at managing the game and working the refs. Sark is too busy reading his playbook to pay much attention to what’s going on outside of that little bubble.

Is your point that we don't have the resources to compete at the highest level? Because recruiting rankings (not everything, but the best barometer we have) and roster pricetag say we should be in the same zip code as OSU and UGA. Their hand me downs being starters for us points to a systemic evaluation/development problem, not a recruiting/resource problem.

If he was truly a bad guy with a two faced persona then I think it would have leaked out by now. From people in the know, they all say that Sark is introspective and is honest with his faults. Didn’t he openly admit to “writers block” in big games his first couple of years here? He may be covering up his demons that sprout up but that’s more dealing with a disease that can happen to good and bad people.

Woody Hayes once said "that nothing cleanses the soul more than getting the hell kicked out of you". Last night was one of those moments. IMHO, Coach Sark needs to offense game plan better and that will need to start with having someone up in the booth assisting him in calling plays.  IMHO, Coach Sark is starting to get a lot like Mackovic in a way where he is just getting too cute with the playcalling. Please go int more with definitive game plans

That being said Sark the coach got his ass handed to him yesterday by Kirby the coach.  Then lied about how they practiced that special teams shit to save face.  There is not a single well coached special teams unit that is lining up 15 yards away from the kicker and instantly running backwards in unison if they are well prepared for an onside kick.  That's not on the players.  100% on the coaches and he is fucking lying.

This is the slowest offense Sark has had in his tenure here. It is a complete fail on his part. The fastest guy on the team is regulated to special teams. The next fastest guy can’t catch the ball consistently. I’m not even sure who would be the 3rd fastest guy.

People on this board turned their nose up on Concepion entering the portal and dismissed A&M adding Craver as a nothing burger, however they are directly responsible for the success Aggie has on offense. They injected speed into that offense and it has made a world of difference. Sark failed to add necessary WR talent after doing so in previous years.

I think it's a safe bet that they practiced onside kick reception with the "hands" team and not the "regular" team. The punt return team probably practiced the regular guys being really careful about the punter taking off.

In "gotta get it" moments, that's not really a trick, is it? Fake punt, fake FG, fake kickoff - only a trick if they're unexpected. Prolly gonna be either the fake FG or fake XP, next time we play UGa.

We've been at least in the top-10 for most of that tenure and recruiting rankings from 4 years ago don't make a shit when those classes have graduated or portaled in/out over their eligibility.

There isn't another team in the SEC we are behind in recruiting.  You can't say Ole Miss is a vastly superior team by talent, yet they would boatrace this team in Oxford.  It's all player development and execution.

This needs more attention, I feel like the 5 stars Texas gets are athletes that have to learn the position they play. Jt sanders, worthy, Mitchell, Ant Hill, and now wingo. Bama, Georgia and Ohio state have guys show up that play that specific position really well already and are also athletes. It’s still a coaching issue, Mack-Herman-Sark…it’s systemic. I don’t have an answer but at some point what Kirby said has to happen. Find mother fuckers who want to tear your heart out to win then pay those guys. If wingo is a 5 star then I’m Santa Claus.

Players make plays Hobbes. Mack looked like the best coach in the country in 2005. Kirby's guys executed and ours didn't. We dropped the ball when it was thrown well and missed receivers when we needed to hit them. Of course at the end of the day it's the coach's fault, and that rings true for every team. Even the team who is top 5 every single year but keeps losing to lesser teams while beating the good ones.

So what explains barely beating Kentucky and Miss St then? Do we not even have better players than them? You equivocate so much you end up saying nothing.

The longer you do it, the less likely you're going to have big holes to fill.  Plus, you have to prove you can do it year in and year out and not just a couple of years where you catch lightning in a bottle.

This collection of dipshits thought they wanted Spke Dykes based on a loaded roster from Patterson that ended up in the CFP.

To be clear, though, the main thing I find fault with Sark this year is the OL.  I think all of our other woes flow from that failure.  And that's probably proximately Flood's fault, but Sark runs this shit and it's imputed to him, and his failure to recognize it.

Did you see the look on Sark's face after that onside kick. Smart always zigs when Sark thinks he is going to zag. Just like going for it twice on fourth down on that same drive. He pulls the punt team off the field and goes for it and makes it easily. Then again on the fourth and five and Simmons of course is offsides and there should have been a pass interference on that play too, the flag got picked up for some reason. Smart just always gets the best of Sark and Texas always makes the key mistakes. It all adds up to Smart being 3-0 against Sark and Texas watches Georgia play and win championships, it's become a pattern against Georgia and Ohio State. Get out- Smarted, so to speak and always the less physical team too.

This is why I'm good with Sark leaving.  He's married to his "genius" as a playcaller.   we hit the 40 yarder to Mosely.  then throw 3 straight passes.  yes they were dropped but damn you know you have guys that drop balls constantly.  establish the run. here is your chance.  You want 125 yards rushing and you completely abandon it when you have the chance to establish it.
He also doesn't employ a QB run game at all.  Kirby must love playing Sark. the QB run game at the college level is a game changer, ESPECIALLY if your OL is deficient.  we play with one hand tied behind our back.

Agreed. Many people are acting like he’s still young and will adapt and grow. He’s been around for more than 20 years. He is who he is and won’t change. He is a fraud holding on to the QB whisperer/offensive genius moniker that he needs to thank Saban for.
