Everyone will forget all of this the next time Texas hires a football coach and one thing doesn't go perfectly and this whole board starts crying about how embarrassing it is.

Meanwhile they will all forget how hilarious 90% of coaching changes at major programs are.

Holy shit this whole story awesome. The 30 for 30 will be epic. How is this an awesome destination for a HC? The governor or the President of the USA chooses, LSU still doesn’t have a President of their own school, now they have no AD and the decision wouldn’t be left up to the replacements anyway. The board has no fucking clue they are involved. This is fucking bonkers.

only one man would take on this shit and waltz in there no fucks given, swinging his sword, a personal hero of mine. Mike Leach. Damn I miss him. That would have been beyond fantastic if he were still alive,

LSU is “parting ways” with Scott Woodward.

They're hiring Ed Orgeron back, aren’t they?

Why not? This whole deal is epic (not in a good way) and entertaining.

where is Bobby Boucher?

Brian Kelly was so fake and such an asshole that they’re longing for the Cajun Carouser. I think they’ve forgotten why they fired him.

Wasn’t there some rumor about Coach O hitting on some bigwig’s wife? Seems so stupid in light of all this fuckery. Coach O was perfect for them. Better than the grass eating sociopath Miles and the murdering sociopath faux southerner Kelly.

Good. He can fuck that dipshit Landry's mistress and remind everyone. This is already fantastic, but if we get Coach O in the mix...

But he may be all they can get if they think they can hire a guy for cheap where there will be a dozen gigs open.

This is stunning. No one knows what is going to happen next. Early Christmas.

I’m gonna be in New Orleans next week. Think I should swing by the campus and informally announce my candidacy? I’d work cheap and wouldn’t need much of a buy out.

He's an idiot and he's outright lying about the buyout.  The funding for the buyout comes from the TAF (their version of the Longhorn Foundation) which is funded by private donors and funds.  He's grandstanding for political reasons only.  What's interesting to me is that he's not an LSU guy, he graduated from UL Lafayette so there's a fair amount of skepticism and concern that he may not have LSU's best interests at heart.

Whatever the case may be, he loves a microphone AND he really is a moron so the next few days of his publicity tour should be both entertaining and detrimental to their coaching search - bring it on!

How many SWT and UTSA fans do you know that own Longhorn gear and go to games when they can?

Same thing.

God I miss that man.

Mike was, imo, maybe the most honest person in college football. Certainly, in the last 20+ years. He was funny, honest, a good coach and not a cheater.

He was great for college football and I miss him too.

I'm still holding out hope for Tubberville.  Ed O would be just as hilarious though.

I would love Ed O to roll up with a couple of 20 something smoke shows. Mumble something about the governor, and committee. Then say something about not letting the talent or his entertainment run the show.

He won't, but a man can dream.

Jimbo is the man for LSU bc they should be able to get him cheap.

aggy will be footing most of the bill due to his last, idiotic no-offset contract with them. Make it be so for the LOLs.

Hmm.. upon further review.. Jimbo to LSU, Elko to PSU, and Ed O to UCLA would create so many waves of fan frustration and culture clash I could feed off the tears instead of my own.

Yeah... that's a very delicious dream.

Can you imagine Ed O at UCLA?

I'm not an LSU fan by any means but I am a Coach O fan.  His interviews always sounded as if he a mouth full of rocks and would end with "go tigers".

See my post below. I'd enjoy Ed O dragging his hot women to UCLA.

While I'm pipe dreaming maybe Mack can head back to UNC. Yeah, I know he's not welcome there, stop spoiling my pipe dreams.

Might work if UCLA would import boudin, pistolettes, and etouffee for him.

Made myself hungry, guess it is Vautrots for lunch today.

Because today is Halloween.

That little movement of his eyes and eyebrows when he mentions that he does go to the dollar store to buy candy cracks me up every time.

I miss Mike so much. My own uncle Mike died not that long after Mike Leach. My uncle loved him. He was a Texas Tech grad. Both were funny like that. Would talk to anyone about anything anywhere and at any time, damn I miss em both.

can you imagine Leach with NIL money? Dude already gave people fits with a budget. Damnit. Life isn’t fair. 😭

I’d never heard of this Landry guy but holy shit is he awesome. He’s got the balls to actually call out what a racket head coach salaries are and is probably going to be remembered as the first domino in getting them back down to a reasonable level. He’s what the sport needed.

I honestly wouldn’t mind if all 50 states had a meeting and pushed back against Sexton and these ridiculous back breaking contracts. Just say no more fucker. More reasonable contracts. With NIL out of control people can only afford so much for athletes. And if the school is stuck with a HC because of a shit contract donors will close up their wallets. Until that coach is gone. Imagine how much money was spent on athletes under Kelly and Franklln for zero fucking results. Money down the toilet.

Congrats to the next LSU coach and his $20m/year salary.

It's also a good way to become a one term governor. Imagine going through all of this pageantry to ultimately end up with Temu boomhauer.

Uh....that's not how it works. The reason the contracts spiral out of control is the same reason professional athletes and coaches salaries spiral out of control....there aren't enough of them to go around for all of the schools that think they should be in the mix for a national championship. A large number of the administrators running the show at these ath departments are now making 7 figures themselves. Most of these meatheads aren't willing to risk their own riches on a special teams coach from the MAC conference. The perceived top coaches aren't gonna change jobs for less money.
