oh, this thread added multiple pages over the past 24 hours for exactly the reason you'd think it would happen.

It's been a riveting debate full of deep thoughts, complex analysis, quantitative analytical processing of in depth statistics and an open minded fully valuable discussion.

That's all to say your post is the worst post in the history of the internet. I was pulling for you succeed here on Surly buy you have hit the bottom of the barrel and I can't even fathom what compelled you to write this toxic, worthless drivel. I don't know why you are always trying to talk shit to me and what's worse, do it so terribly. You should be ashamed of yourself.

May I offer that you are perhaps being a bit hyperbolic and that his post, while it had it's flaws, was on the whole beneficial to the thread?

I'm willing to entertain such an idea. I think to fully comprehend your thesis it would he helpful to provide a line by line breakdown and where you see flawed logic. I please ask that you use debate logic for your parsing to better help me align with your perspective. I am grateful for your attention to this matter.

Wow, go fuck yourself. I cannot believe how viciously you've attacked me. Why is everyone on this thread out to get me when I only make innocuous comments and observations that are clear to anyone with eyes and a brain?

Oh my! Well, I can see how you'd come to that conclusion and I apologize for being any part of making you feel attacked. I value you and as human and a poster though I can't say the same for @BigOrange1 who is clearly a Proud Boy regard who hates the world. In recompense for my misdeeds and misalignment of your lofty vision and knowledge I offer the probably NSFW below for your viewing pleasure.

I said "like" which is not the same as "someone here said that." I've said it before and I don't know why the fuck I'm saying it again, probably because I've had a shitty week so I'm doing the total loser thing and fighting with some narrative-pushing narcissist/manic depressive on the Internet who is entirely trolling because he just wants to fight without repercussions to channel his life frustrations at something/anything

yeah, and i’m the overly emotional and combative one, the self deluded one. okie dokie. i’m not the one in here losing his shit or taking personal pot shots at someone else’s real life mental health issues (classy move btw) because he disagrees with me about how good a quarterback is.

as i’ve repeatedly said to y’all, it’s wild for me to watch you all lose your shit, get overly emotional, become wildly combative, insult my real life mental health issues (which have absolutely nothing to do with this conversation), and then *again*, as always, you walk away from the entire thing convincing yourself that it’s me who is combative, overly emotional, taking this too seriously, etc. it’s frankly incredible.

finally, i have no clue why you’re dying on this “i said AS IF!!!!” hill, like nothing you said after “as if” really counts. yes- you said that the way people post around here it’s “as if quinn ewers took a team full of all americans and went winless for his career.” what about you using the phrase “as if”, absolves you from taking responsibility for what you said? what you said remains hyperbolic nonsense that doesn’t even begin to approach the reality of the situation, but because you said, “as if”, it doesn’t fall back on you? it doesn’t count? yeah i don’t think that’s how it works.

lol, i have aliases? that’s news to me.

also, people continue to argue with me because they are fanatical about a teenage boy who wasn’t very good at qb in college and it shatters their world whenever someone else doesn’t deify their hero. also because they are the children they accuse me of being. they cannot control their emotions, and have to lash out in hopes of some sort of sweet release that never actually comes. it’s pretty sad.

Something else that needs to start being debated, which son of a longhorn is going to be a better QB Chris Simms’ son or Major’s son.
I’m going with Nash Applewhite

Gonna have to belay that request until Arch has (a) son(s) and you forgot Colts understandably unnamed son.

Well, you got one thing right.

yes i did. taking pot shots about my real life mental health issues which have cost me my dream job, my livelihood, and which will one day cost me my life is very very sad, and all because i don’t agree with this guy about a college quarterback. and frankly, it shouldn’t even be allowed around here, much less celebrated the way it is. it’s wildly out of line.

you can point fingers and deflect all you want, but i’m not the one losing his shit, insulting other people, or taking pot shots about their chronic, real life illness over a college football disagreement. it truly is sad.

I agree, mental health references should be off limits.

However, I disagree that you aren't  losing your shit, and I also disagree with your characterization of those you are arguing with.

NFL dudes, do most teams carry 2 QBs on their 53-man roster?  Would 3 be unusual?  (This presumes Quinn would be #3, but maybe he has a shot at #2.)  It would seem to me that with Tua's injury history there might be incentive to go QB-heavy, but I don't know the intracacies of pulling a guy off the practice squad.

3 isn't that unusual.

Sam is actually a good QB - he will be fine for a while on rosters.

He's on the exact opposite end of the spectrum from Ewers in terms of toughness.

Quinn seems to be the only QB drafted that teams are happy with aside from Milroe and Ward.

Zero shade on Quinn, I'm honestly curious if 3 out 14 QBs drafted in a given year meeting expectations is low, average or high.

This Fox piece reports:

(63.9 percent) were more of a "miss" than a "hit."  From 1st round draft picks.

Spoiler

In 20 years of NFL Drafts, from 2002 through 2023, a startling 39 of the 61 quarterbacks picked in the first round (63.9 percent) were more of a "miss" than a "hit." That included "misses" on more than half of the quarterbacks picked in the top 10 (21 of 37, 56.8 percent) — a startling rebuke of the supposed best of the best.

My lazy searching ass didn't find anything for ALL QBs but 3 out of 14 in 2025 draft is 21.4% which given 36.1% is the success rate of 1st rounder seems pretty on target.

It's also easier to be happy with a guy you took in the 7th for pennies on the dollar. If he's worth a damn then you've already surpassed expectations.

The problem that part of me can't shake is that Ewers is probably going to get hurt this season. I understand why he didn't go in the 1st, but I think the reason he dropped as far as he did is because his injury report said "DO NOT DRAFT" across the top in big red letters. His fragility is the issue, and that won't rear its head until the non-contact jersey comes off. Ewers is a tough kid and will play through injuries, but when he plays hurt is when his game falls apart.

The Dolphins are only going to be happy with him long term if he can stay healthy.
