Practically a dream setlist tonight from Pearl Jam for me. I went both nights and am glad I sat close for tonight. Great time.

great setlist.  Who you are was finominal.  Crown of Thorns. I wish I had gone to both.  they played something like 50 songs over the 2 nights and the only repeat was Alive.  pretty incredible.

my only 2 real misses were Porch and Corduroy from the first night.

They'll never play the dream setlist of every guy who bought Ten on CD in 92 of 8 songs off Ten, 6 off Vs and 5 off Vitalogy plus  2 or 3 off No Code, Yield, lost dogs.  They don't want to, don't need to.  They are the new Dead but with the energy of 70's versions of the who, stones, ac/dc, etc.

Elderly Woman was really good the first night too…as was even flow.  Between the two nights, the only song I wanted that they didn’t do was Just Breathe

4th&Five told me today that across 8 shows on this mini tour, they played 105 unique songs.  That is utterly insane.

Who went to HAAM yesterday?  Managed to catch six bands throughout the day.  I love me some free music and catching bands at Fareground is a very underrated spot.

I hit ABGB for their HAAM Day showcase- Primo the Alien, Shinyribs, and Bidi Bidi Banda... then bar hopped South Lamar a bit during the walk home (Black Sheep, Corner Bar, Gibson, Barton Springs Saloon). Fun night.

Yeah was thinking of hitting up the Shiny ribs show.  I did Fareground, Guero's and Saxon.  We should catch up sometime for a drink.  Been a while...

Just saw that Charlatans (UK) with Ride are doing shows in Jan in austin and dallas.

In for this show. I always dug the manchester scene sound. Ride’s Going Blank Again was in heavy rotation back in the day. Twisterella always makes it on my 90’s playlists.

I'm totally in for that show. It sucks they're at Emo's. It's such a pain in the ass to get to and from.

I've never seen Ride but thinking about hitting that show.

Wife and I are going to Bahamas on Sunday at The Kessler and then we have Wilco next Thursday (I think) in Las Colinas.

Mavericks at Floore this Saturday. I've never seen them live so I'm looking forward to it. Plus it's Floore's, so venue always adds a good vibe.

I haven't pulled the trigger on tickets, but will probably go see Drive By Truckers at Aztec in November.  I liked General Admission Aztec last time I was there so I think it might be a good venue for them.

Spent a shit-fuck of money on Olivia Rodrigo tickets for my 9 year old daughter. She's pretty fucking stoked so this is basically gonna be her entire birthday present. My wife took her to Taylor Swift earlier this year and I'll take her to this show. That'll be fun, and OR writes catchy fucking songs.

Last week I saw Bonnie Prince Billy at the Parish and the wife and I went to Jawbreaker at Emo's on Saturday. Both were great shows.

Death Cab for Cutie & Postal Service 20th anniversary came through Philly last night (with Warpaint!). Concert of the century for me. Those two albums snatched me out of whatever crap I was listening to around 2001-02. Third Eye Blind might have been my favorite, and that's kinda sad. But the internet had become usable enough to find new, independent music and Postal Service was the first thing I latched onto. Which led me to DCFC and Rilo Kiley. Reminded me of my 80s upbringing.

I went to the Postal Service 10th anniversary show, which was great, but they stepped it up for year 20. Larger venue, more lights and a more active role for Jenny Lewis. A couple Death Cab guys also joined them at times. The Transatlanticism set was incredible too, songs I hadn't heard live probably since seeing them at the Ridglea in Fort Worth in 2003. I'm so thankful this tour happened.

I'm not going to be able to catch this tour and I am so bummed since this is almost 100% sure to be the last time Postal Service will be played live.  I did the 10th anniversary show and that was great.  That's awesome that Jenny Lewis is more active this tour.  I am a huge fan of hers/RK.

Nicel. I saw Fareground had shows pretty much all day- I used to work super close so that would've been convenient.

I'm up for beers, maybe combined with a HH show somewhere- will DM you soon.

Digable Planets last night at Emo's.  Fantastic show.  Kassa Overall was an amazing opener.  It drives my wife crazy that we arrive a good 30 minutes before the opener and defend our real estate for the evening but man I love being up close to the band.  Such an amazing experience.  I hate the a-holes who try to shove their way up right at the front after everyone else stood around waiting for the show.  Especially the drunk girl who tried to shove her way forward and when the band starts talking about the song "Nickel Bags" she yells... "yeah Nickle Bags!!! Nickelback?  Sickleback???" She didn't last much longer.

Man bahamas is probably the most whipass band going that no one seems to give a shit about.

As you know, the missus and I were at the evening show. And, agreed. I don't know how you couldn't have fun at a Bahamas show. They just put a (EDIT:) SMILE on my face. While I'd love to see Afie have wild success, I would hate to lose moments like we've had the last two times he's come through Dallas and played The Kessler.

BTW, @NOMAAA I ran across this yesterday before the show. Interesting story on how the "country" album came to be: https://www.thestar.com/entertainment/music/how-canadian-guitar-hero-bahamas-turned-a-pandemic-project-into-his-first-country-album/article_2f7c97dd-a565-5dc6-a962-343dea136862.html

I've got a lot of shows this weekend.

I'll be seeing a friend's band friday night.

Saturday is Ural Thomas and the Pain for the last performance at my favorite venue, The Doug Fir Lounge.  The owners are moving to a new space and want to keep the name but it's a travesty.  I'm positive that I will shed tears.  It's just wrong.  Mid-century modern log cabin.  I want to live there.

Sunday will be The Parson Red Heads

Monday is QOTSA w/ Viagra Boys

Gonna make liberal use of my flask so I don't go broke.

Seeing Wilco at a sold-out Cain's tonight for the umpteenth time.

Can't freaking wait. Haven't seen the guys since right before the pandemic.

I'll report back with shitty iPhone pix.

Really wish they weren't playing an outside show in Austin on this tour. I've sworn those off until the temps drop below 90 which may never happen.

Yeah I’m still waffling between Wilco at the amphitheater or Brent Cobb at the Parish Friday night. May be a game time decision.

wish the full Wilco album had been released last week like Cobb’s (instead of this week) as I know both shows will be heavy on those albums

Fuck yeah what a great show last night. That was my favorite Wilco show I've seen in a while. They played 21 songs basically spanning their whole career, including 3 from the new album that sounded great "Pittsburg", "Cousin" and "Evicted."

I also FINALLY - FINALLY got to hear "Spiders (Kidsmoke)" live and damn did it deliver.  They played it as the closer of the encore. It's funny because I've easily seen Wilco like 10+ times and have never heard it. It got to be almost funny that they would never play it. I'd look at set lists and they would play it like 5 shows in a row leading up to whatever show I saw and then not play it. It's literally their only concert staple I'd never heard. Damn it was awesome.

Also got to hear "Misunderstood" and "Side with the Seeds" for the first time in a long while.

Here's the full set list for those interested: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/wilco/2023/cains-ballroom-tulsa-ok-1ba395dc.html

The Heavy Heavy killed it at Far Out Lounge.  Much more of a straight up rock show than their 'verbed out throwback recordings.  Let me tell you, it might not be clear from what you hear on their hits, but Georgie Fuller can sing her ass off.  She was the clear star of the show.

Oh yeah, to the 3 gals who seemed compelled to shout their conversations over the band 15 feet from the stage (after paying nearly $35 each for the privilege) . . . fuck you.  We had to move, twice, it was as if they were following us.

Yeah.

And Pink and Brandi just sang “nothing compares 2U” as a duet.

I've never been in a venue where the women outnumber the men 20:1.

Haven't done Taylor then...could be 50:1.

Pink was great though. When she took off flying in the air at the end, holy crap it took my breathe away. Never seen anything like it in my life. Incredible

Going to Southside Ballroom to see the boys on Thursday night. Been awhile since I'd seen them as Wilco before catching them at High Water Fest in Charleston last April. It was a shorter set and I wasn't super happy with the setlist. Just checked the Cain's setlist and that looks much, much better. Glad you (@oSuJeff97) got to see Kidsmoke live. That song gets shit on a bit but it's a great to see live.

I need to spin the new album a bit tomorrow, at least the three new ones they played in Tulsa.

BTW, it appears they dropped in to "Open Mic" night at Poor David's Pub, which is close to Southside Ballroom, earlier this evening and played a few songs. That would've been ridiculous.

Reporting in a little late, but saw Sting at Moody in Austin on Sept 17.

Setlist was great.  Strong mix of Police classics with his solo work.  He played around 19 songs and, after an encore, he closed with Roxanne then Fragile.  Walking on the Moon and Fields of Gold might have been my favorites.  He increased the tempo for Every Breath You Take, which I liked.

Positives: Sting still sounds fantastic, vocally and on the bass.  He is clearly keeping in fantastic physical shape, too.  His guitar player, harmonica player, and backing vocalists are very talented.  And he highlighted each of them at various points in the show.  He comes off as fairly humble (which is not his reputation).

Negatives: Mix for the first two songs had drums and guitars drowning out the bass and vocals.  The drummer was pedestrian and it really stood out on King of Pain and Every Little Thing She Does is Magic.  Especially King of Pain, where Stewart Copeland was masterful.  The drummer just played straight ahead 4/4 on the high hat and snare.  To me it was almost distracting.

All in all, I am glad I went.  It was a last minute decision.

Yeah really enjoyed the set the other night.

Wait. Who shits on Spiders? I fucking love that song…and yeah was super awesome to finally hear it live.

Of the new songs, definitely digging “Cousin” the most. It has kind of a vibe that would fit in on AGIB. “Evicted” is a nice little tune as well. “Pittsburgh” hasn’t been released yet so I’ve only heard it the one time live… I do recall it was a pretty chill, low-tempo number. Looking forward to listening again tomorrow when the album is out.

I think a lot of hard-core Wilco fans do not like Kidsmoke for whatever reason. I can't call it commercial because the damn thing is like 10 mins long. Seems like if somebody knows one Wilco song, that's the one they know.

Pretty sure I've mentioned it here before but I was late to the Wilco party. Some of my ex-wife's friends, who I'm still really close with, were hard-core Wilco fans and I went to at least two or three shows in the early/mid 2000's and didn't really know a single song. I just wasn't a fan. A buddy from work burned every Son Volt/Wilco/Uncle Tupelo album he had and I put them in iTunes library and just never really listened to them. For whatever reason, I started listening to them right about the time I was going through my divorce in 2012 and things just clicked for me with them. I'm not sure there's a better back-to-back than "How to Fight Loneliness" and "Via Chicago" on any album that I own. Wilco is a top five band (at least) for me now. I've seen Wilco 6-7 times probably now (maybe more), Jeff Tweedy solo three or four times and Tweedy at least once. I bet the only musician(s) I've seen more are the Old 97's/Ranchero Brothers/Rhett Miller, who I've probably seen 30+ times altogether.

Really excited for the show tonight.
