My last words to my son will be "keep the cameras rolling at the funeral"

Couple of years ago my family was together, and Dad asked my siblings and I to meet with him in the dining room to talk about his estate planning. We thought it was going to be something emotional and important.
He told us that his goal is to bounce the last check that he writes in his life.

Yep…

We’ve had the same-ish talk with my parents, as they are in the 80s and enjoying retirement.

Y’all earned it, busted y’all’s asses for it, enjoy it.

There is some land set to be passed to me since it’s tied to other family land and the house on 3 acres that is setup to go to both my sister and me, either rental or sell if we decide. Whatever they accidentally don’t spend will be divided up amongst the 2 of us but they intend to spend every dollar they have coming to them.

Only reason I’m getting the land is because I still live close by and my sister is never coming back to Texas, she stated she didn’t want it.

I get that mindset and everyone has a right to do whatever they want with the money they have earned. Nobody should do without or make unreasonable sacrifices for the sole purpose of leaving something to heirs, but my wife and I have talked and we feel like the below is true:

Proverbs 13:22 (NKJV): “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children...

10 years ago, I convinced my dad to take his money out of CDs and let me invest it for him.

We opened a joint account and it’s worth north of $1M now.

He’s always insisted he’d rather donate all his money before giving it to my sister or I.

Joke’s on him because I took his name off the account.

Not really. But he now says I get to keep it. So… I guess I have enough to have 2 chicks at the same time.
