Ford: “Diaz going out to the mound to talk scouting report on Horowitz.”

Sparks: “the scouting report is: ‘this guy walks up to Mariah Carey. Throw him the heater.’ “

Sparks is a regional treasure.

jealous of your trip. Forgot how close PIT and CLE are to each other. This would have been a  great one to go to.

PNC (and Coors) are probably the two parks at the top of my list that I want to visit but haven’t yet (I’m around 20), but I’m always busy at the beginning of the month and every year we seem to play in Pittsburgh or Denver at the very beginning of a month.

If you get a chance check out Great Lakes Brewing company. It's like 5 minutes west of the stadium across the river. Lots of walkable shops and restaurants around it too, and a couple more breweries nearby.

I like Paredes better. Tucker always irritated me. That's not sour grapes. I'm glad we traded him. I'm in love with the return. I still stan for Correa and Springer and wish Bregman all the best.  Tucker- I don't check box score or think about at all except when someone puts something like this up or says something dumb like we shouldn't have traded him. Maybe if he'd have ever had a meaningful hit in an Astros uniform in all the different playoff games he got to play in I'd give half a shit. But he didn't and I don't.

Agree. Once Tucker went from buzzworthy phenom to everyday player, I kept waiting for him to take the leap into the stratosphere of iconic Astros...and he just never did. Didn't even seriously threaten to win a batting crown post-shift, as I felt sure he could have. Never (to my knowledge) became a rock of the clubhouse in a visible way. Didn't follow Yordan's lead and lock into a long deal with Houston. Didn't appear to engage with fans even 1% as much as they supported him. And he cemented all that by proving a pedestrian performer in October. I began to sense he cared only about a monster deal and not maxing out his game to earn one. That scramble for his 30th homer was perhaps a good example of playing for himself and not the franchise. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Idk about all of this.

I just think his demeanor trends more toward a guy like trout. Just an Uber talented ballplayer but he’s a quiet dude and doesn’t have the killer instinct that makes you love a guy.

To analogize him to the silver screen, we’re criticizing him for not wanting to wear more flair when the irony is if he ever showed even 10% of the passion Aniston did in telling her boss to F off we’d all love him.

Personality has a ton to do with it. Low-key guy. And as noted, I'm just offering a 30,000-foot view. I was never in those games or clubhouses and don't have personal connections with anyone who was.

That $1 rain delay dog

Wow, just had a flashback to my first few years out of college when I live in North Austin.  Far too many times a friend and I would pile out of some bar and hit the 7-11 on North Lamar only to find a couple of hot dogs in similar state. Much like the women we would make one final failed attempt at before closing time the hot dogs looked MUCH better at 2:30 in the morning and a large amount of whiskey in our stomachs. Now that I think about it, I am not sure I have ever eaten a 7-11 hotdog before midnight and not after far too many drinks.

Not stomach issues either unlike those god forsaken greasy ass pork chops at the truck stop south of Austin that close long ago. There was hell to be paid the next day for any drunken menu choice that involved those damn pork chops.

It was somewhat nice while it lasted

This is fine. He's going to need an extra day here or there, as he's going 91, 102, and 96 pitches in his last 3 starts. This after not throwing a competive pitch in almost 3 years.

As I have mentioned in the past, the front office and owner basically thought he was a selfish pussy who cared way more about his big payday than he did about the team or winning. They’re not wrong.
