You underestimate just how much some of their cult want to live close to their supreme idol, reveille. I have family that presents as 2%ers until things don't quite go their way, and they want to retire to Navasota so they can be "close to CS." Imagine being relatively successful and wanting to retire to fucking Navasota.

For the guy who harps on people for reading comprehension, you seem to falling short yourself. That lot is in Lubbock, TX. Home of Texas Tech.

One thing that could help with that is going back to a bit more of a local centric recruiting strategy. Instead of chasing the top 50 WR from Florida, maybe taking the top 200 WR that is from Texas. They'll be less likely to bolt after one year and cause you headaches, chasing so many players every portal season. You could also get the side effect of having a more cohesive team with similar backgrounds. I'm not saying good kids from good families and junior days with 10 commitments, but there has to be a better middle ground imo.

You mean a guy like Parker Livingstone? How’d that work out?

We all make occasional mistakes. Even me. But to be specific I harp on people for not even bothering to read the thread and then show up and ask stupid questions. That's not quite the same thing as making a mistake.

But thanks for correcting me the same way Hank_Hill did a page or two back. Perhaps you should read the thread?

I see smaller HS classes and exactly what you just said. Then really put your chips down in the portal for guys other programs paid to develop. I think it's obvious Sark did not anticipate the portal changes that have happened this year and he's scrambling at certain positions now.

Especially at QB. Why pay millions for a freshman when you can pay peanuts for a developmental freshman and pay millions for an already developed starter. Every team left in the playoffs now has that exact situation, right?

16 minutes ago, HateYouAndMyself said:

We absolutely do. That room is full of question marks beyond McDonald. They want to add a proven safety and if that ultimately drives someone like Filsaime into the portal so be it.

No, we really don't. Filsaime has a ton of potential and flashed in his limited playing time. Getting Derek Williams back really helps here as I think he'll be in a good position with Muschamp and more removed from his injury. If we didn't think he could play, we wouldn't have worked to get him back from the portal. An additional safety wouldn't be bad, but is hardly necessary. If you can get a Mukuba level starter, great. Do it. But don't waste time just to have a body.

I have to imagine the four teams left in the playoffs are rubber necking the current carnage and thanking God they have game prep to take priority/attention away.

Oh their turns are coming. Ole Miss especially.

They are worse off because their players leave last and good replacements have been picked over.

This portal shit is messing me up. I've never looked at another teams message board. But here I am...... Looks like most of Alabama boards wanted Horton to stay. Rep as a good teammate. Was dinged up to start the year and a couple other times thoughout.

i fully expect all the remaining playoff teams are being tampered, offered, distracted, and will have the entirety of D1 attacking them once as each of these teams finishes their seasons

I mean, the ROI was much better.

Fuck. I didn't realize he was even thinking of leaving.

I hope we reach out to Horton and start working that recruitment while we wait for Coleman to go elsewhere.

Ls? You pimp walking a victory before the final gun, UCLA style? This somehow give you scoreboard?

Nope, you're trying to ease the pain.

We won our last two games against ranked teams, how'd your season end? Real scoreboard shit.

See you in the parking lot! Bring your shine box.

Then they are hosed if there is any kind of mass exodus. They'll be looking at leftovers from this carnage, then at what they can pull from the other playoff teams.

What else is he going to bring? Toughness?

I would hope so - he’s perfect for a 5-tech in Muschamps defense.

The staff is working their way down the roster from most experienced to least experienced players. He may have not been thinking of leaving. However, all compensation and deals are being assessed and communicated with the players. Ffrench (not worth what he was being paid = gone, as he doesn’t want to take a cut). On the other hand, Terry is being prioritized to be retained.

Ole Miss Center is a RS Soph. So is the Guard opposite Kutas. Hope we've tampered/offered a big bag.

Is “announces his intentions to enter the transfer portal” just agents trying to get the deal sweetened? I keep seeing this specific but noncommittal phrasing.

Maybe big-armed Dreamy Brauny. Scary.

Given the discussion in this thread I thought it was hilarious when this popped up on my timeline.

Was thinking the same thing. The model is the IU and Tech way. Load up every year with 20+ RS JR and RS SR who are older, more mature and seasoned. IU starts 3 Sophomores and last i checked the whole rest of the starters are 3 and 4 year transfers. Schools will be hard pressed to hold on to any Freshman who play sparingly in back of an upperclassmen, they are now bolting 1-2X looking for a paycheck, hard to blame them. CFB is now firmly in the free agent free for all every year mode. History, blue blood, tradition etc.. have gone the way of the dohdoh bird, unfortunately. Every school will be re-recruiting/paying every year as attrition is the new name of the game.

OURLADS does a pretty good job at tracking 2-deep for all college teams. Not 100% certain of its accuracy week-to-week, but you can get a good feel for it.

These 2 deeps are as of around 12/31, so the Texas one is net of opt-outs. IU and Tech were still playing at the time.

IU: https://www.ourlads.com/ncaa-football-depth-charts/depth-chart/indiana/90728
Offense starters: 7 transfers, 5 Sr, 5 Jr, 1 Fr; only 1 w/o a RS year: Sr. Sarratt
Defense starters: 6 transfers, 4 Sr., 4 Jr, 3 Soph
13 players in 2 deep were 2025 transfers

Texas Tech: https://www.ourlads.com/ncaa-football-depth-charts/depth-chart/texas-tech/92062
Offense starters: 6 transfers, 5 Sr, 4 Jr, 1 soph, 1 Fr
Defense starters: 8 transfers, 5 Sr, 5 Jr, 1 soph, 8 had RS years
14 players in 2 deep were 2025 transfers

Texas: https://www.ourlads.com/ncaa-football-depth-charts/depth-chart/texas/92016
Offense starters: 2 transfers, 2 Sr, 2 Jr, 5 Soph, 2 FR
Defense starters: 1 transfer, 0 senior, 2 Jr, 4 soph, 5 Fr
7 players in 2-deep were 2025 transfers

Are they on the roster? They are thinking of leaving.

When discussing Texas NIL in this portal cycle, does that include or exclude corporate deals the players have made while player here?

I saw it noted we weren't the highest bid for Coleman. However, I assume he could make up the difference here with corporate deals.

That's not really fair. Billy was talking more about what goes on inside and the special vibe they have. What other cities and towns could possibly have a restaurant with vibes that can beat this

It will be interesting to see the breakdown of the ~4K transfer candidates and how many actually get signed to different or no teams (or went back to old team). With that many folks in the portal, it seems like there will be a bunch of kids and their "agents" on the outside looking in when the dust settles.

Dude, I wish I knew. I cannit find her name for the life of me. Reverse image search showed nothing. I want more of her. I know she was a model for one of the Deftones posters or maybe a single, but I can't find a name.

I found her. Her name is Bryden Jenkins. I found her through some obscure reverse image site I had never heard of before. You can tell it's her by the tattoo on her forearm in both pics.

it’s probably north of 5000 players now, out of 12,000. Insane carnage coming when the music stops

I could see a minimum 2 year-ish contract becoming a thing in the future, especially for HS players.

And maybe backend loaded with bonuses for not transferring.

Potential plan B for Coleman

Once a player decides to enter the portal a school has 48 hours to convince him otherwise before they have to file portal paperwork and make the entry official. The announcement is what starts the clock.

Texas has 21 players in the portal right now. 11 of them are from Texas.

Maybe, but you best be really good at HS evals if so. Imagine having Ffrench ride the bench another year at his inflated '25 rate. Either way (1-year only vs. multi-year) has pitfalls. The benefits to the programs of year-to-year negotiations are the lack of dead money on known non-contributors with chaos being the downside. Chaos is useful for the savvy (it being a ladder and all).

Though the potential of aggy making a Bobby Bonilla-esqe long-term fuck up makes me lean towards multi-year deals becoming the standard.

I’d guess the official request starts the clock. Not a social media post

Internet points for aggy, and kudos from the cult for looch.

Harris is running around acting giddy and talking shit to people about closing Coleman. That's where Brauninger and Liucci are drawing the buzz. Ketchum probably heard about it and passed it along, given that he and Liucci trade notes.

You know, it has been a while since we've gotten a good BHarris deleted tweet

Hyping Texas up so that it's a bigger win if he commits to Aggy.
