Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - Pining For IOLs Who Can Fog A Mirror

I’m not kidding or being sarcastic when I say that some of the allegedly best lawyers in the world have looked at the Texas stuff. If the UT agreements don’t have serious teeth, no contracts do. Whatever the case, the Big 10 contracts will quickly be mimicked if there is any concern for a program about their contracts otherwise, all over the country. Finally something in favor of sanity has shown back up in CFB.

I approve. 💯 These should be mimicked. Closest thing to ROI that can be had. Good for Big 10.

It’s plausible. Per Bobby, the Sark portal rule doesn’t apply to defensive players because Boom is defense HC. What a bizarre double standard.

People on this board have been way too strict about an offhand comment made years ago. If Sark feels its advantageous to take an offensive player back, he probably would.

Sark- So, Will, once they are in the portal, they aren't coming back. Brandon and I think it's a good rule.

I’m sure he’s adapting, but the man said what he said directly and publicly. Offhand comment ain’t got shit to do with it.

If a player is good enough it never applies.

We should definitely keep talking about it.

It was a perfectly fine policy that worked quite well up until this year IMO.

that one side of the ball can go in and out of the portal freely while the other side can’t?

Feel like that could’ve been easily misinterpreted from Sark giving leniency to D players because of the DC change, but who knows

No that wasn't the actual policy, it was the portal in general. The previous poster was just being tongue in cheek since the three guys to return (I guess we're still officially waiting on two) were defensive.

This is the biggest back bend ever for a “rule” that means nothing.

All of you acting like this rule is anything more than lip service are the dumbest motherfuckers on the planet. Jesus Christ people - you think this rule applies to anyone that matters? On offense or defense? To Arch? To Colin Simmons? For fucks sake it was uttered at a time when the portal was brand new and completely different.

God damn.

Surly or shaggy poster claimed she works for one the big 5 or 6 accounting firms in Houston. He refuses to identify her for professional reasons. Hopefully he’s on his own now and he’ll spill the beans.

I just googled the thread title.

LOLz. I have enjoyed its evolution, but that one is so perfect.

I meant the rule doesn’t bind Sark to anything. The back bend is it supposedly doesn’t apply to defensive players now because of Muschamp. It never applied or will apply to anyone Sark wants to keep offense or defense.

Yea this is like when Jimmy, after cutting John Roper for falling asleep in meetings was asked would he cut Troy if he did the same thing and he said, "no would go over there nudge him and whisper to him wake up Troy"

Did Xavier Worthy ever formally enter the portal? My recollection is that he had discussions with USC?

No, he never did. Neither did Barron, who had similar convos.

Oh well, I guess he's bound by law then, since he said it publicly. A football coach would never say one thing publicly and do another.

Yep, Jimmy used to say "I treat people fairly, but I don't treat everyone equally", or something to that affect.

USF has an IOL that just hit the portal, Cole Best. Started ten games, with seven at Center and the rest at Guard.

The thing that is really fucking up this cycle compared to the past cycles is revenue sharing. That all went down after the spring portal closed last year. If it were in place then, I'm sure we would have seen the same fuckery. Now all of the sudden, all these schools with poor collectives and/or that have been lacking in real NIL opportunities are flush with cash. It just raised the price of poker for everyone. Throw in the completely unregulated nature of the agents and this is what you get. Shitshow. Total shitshow. And it's worse for schools like Texas, Ohio State, Georgia, etc. that were paying premiums for guys out of high school on a longer development curve. Cignetti doesn't really have that issue at Indiana.

This is why the system is going to be problematic for top recruiting classes. Top ranked freshman aren't going to always play much at those schools and then will get crazy offers the following year based on potential. Lack of playing team gives them an incentive to leave and it also adds complications for the current team because you dont want to pay top dollar for somebody who hasnt proven anything.

She'd be perfect at a law firm. They have a lot of documents to shred.

this would make him 4 to UW, 6 to LSU, plus rev share reduction…a legit 14 million dollar player?

Is it safe to assume our own contracts are like this? The template the BIG has given their schools includes real teeth. I admit I haven't bothered to look into it at all on our end but I would assume the SEC / Texas use similar.

edit: It may sound like a silly question since you would assume 'yes' but holy fuck look how generally incompetent those guys are. I take nothing for granted anymore.

I think the SEC isn’t like this now but will be tomorrow.

Yep. 💯

Bobby and Gerry while much maligned by me this week, brought up an interesting point today.

Maintaining depth is going to be a real problem at Texas. With revenue sharing, schools like Maryland can offer our backups more money and a starting job.

Very difficult waters to navigate that will require a seasoned, professional front office. Not some guy that lists Call of Duty under job skills.

Maybe sark should stop retaining the asshole with call of duty at the top of his resume. He’s already fired the all star guy at the position because he prefers Smithers. We’re in good hands, guys.

Does Brandon Harris actually have Call of Duty listed on his resume?

I’ll buy Flood is one of Bobby’s sources. He called him an “adequate recruiter” today and spun the Jake G and Sprague losses away as “you can’t overcome familiarity”.

Sounds like a guy comforting his friend at the bar after his wife left him for the tennis pro.

There are still deals outside of rev share correct? Provided they pass muster with the Deloitte “clearinghouse”.

i do agree Texas needs a true GM who knows how to manage a roster. IMO Harris is way over his skis.

It’s going to be a hot job market for former NFL salary cap and front office washouts. Nagy is just the tip of the shitberg. I hope Texas is more selective, but Sark doesn’t have a great track record.
