Hopefully that means the Pitt LB who is a better player anyway.

I've no reason to doubt he's good, but I just noticed something rewatching the game earlier. When Kanu got a personal foul for levelling Underwood after a pick, Guarnera was literally 5 feet away and and just turned and walked away. Aren't lineman supposed to protect their QBs from getting roughed up?

Not against his future teammates

Consider the circumstances. All attention shifted to the interception and stopping the ball carrier. There wasn't really a reason to expect a continued pass rush. Also, Kanu's act was blocking a potential tackler at that point although that's not how the refs took it.

Curious if the moonshot is the Cal Linebacker Uluave.

So what happens to kids that enter the portal and don’t find a team?

  • Popular Post

I never want to see the word “moonshot” again

Aw dang, sounded like we'd have liked to keep him

Being so early in the portal cycle, this is likely a good thing. He was lower in the pecking order at LB, per Gerry.

Woodyard is a great player and we should all have been very happy had we landed him but you are absolutely right. Rashem Briles (Pitt) and Cade Ulave (the Cal LB who just entered) are both better. Ulave has been a menace for three years now.

At least on CFB26, they just disappear forever.

Also, in terms of "moonshot," are we sure Gerry's porn preferences aren't just leaking again?

Some corches will allow them to return to their "old" teams. Sark and many other corches choose not to allow that.

Others either go down divisions and play Divisions I-AA, II, III, or JUCO, or whatever they call them now, they could sit out a year, or just quit football.

We require more vespene gas offensive linemen!

Don’t like this. Maybe the first guy we lost that I’m not shrugging my shoulders.

Uluave had already verbally recommitted to Cal but it sounds like multiple money whip offers have come in and his agent wants to use this to up Cal’s offer (which will happen). I’d be mildly surprised if he leaves Cal but anything is possible.

If he does come to Texas, he is a massive upgrade on Lifau

@General Specific Your presence is requested.

Generally, message boards are a waste of time right? Specifically, we are all idoits, regards and “You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy”!

Now back to football. Has Helo got us any portal participants yet?

This is not good. He was supposed to replace DJ after this year. I wonder if we already have lineman or four already lined up to make up for the loss. This sucks.

To me it's just another data point of Flood missing more evaluations

No. Just a lot of “look out for’s”, “names to watch”, and “keep an eye on’s”

And you think he would be leaving if this was the case?

So Helo, what would you say you do here?

That too, especially. God he's absolutely horrible at the one job he has. He can't recruit for shit and when he does he gets like one good lineman and then bread. He literally lucked out with Banks and Williams due to Cristobal leaving Oregon, and this was when Gerry said (a growing theme with OTF) that we were in the lead for Banks and then he committed to Oregon, and Williams was a penalty machine, while Banks was a unicorn. Campbell showed promise, Hutson was and still does suck. Majors was good to serviceable, and we still made the final cut for the Joe Moore awards. We've missed on like 6/15 on the current roster, Cruz, Robertson, Hutson, Stroh, Kibble, Neto; while we have to wait and see on Jackson Christian, the Coleman twins, if Cojoe comes back healthy, Jayson Chatman,. Cruz is probably gone, or sucks. I have no faith in eother of the Coleman's unless their name is Cam. Robertson is average and weak, Hutson is graduating, Campbell is NFL-bound. So basically we have to wait on a decision from Goosby, and Baker is our only guy who is for sure returning.

Kyle Flood is beyond abysmal. How he hasn't been fired is a mystery. Buddies or not, if Sarkisian is serious about winning he NEEDS to fire both Flood and Banks. Not has to, but needs to. Outside of the 2022 class, Flood has failed on every level. He got Goosby and Baker. Everyone else is bread. No one in the country outside of Flood would have ever started Connor Stroh. And I mean no one. He's that bad.

We are an absolute mess at the OL position to the point is beyond embarrassing. Not only are his evals terrible, what is he even teaching them? We were between 118th-135th in offensive penalties. Baffling. Our ST are laughably terrible.

This is exactly why I don't take anything Bobby, Gerry, or CJ seriously on any takes they have. The cautionary tales just keep growing.

Yea just seen some film. He’s really good.

Wait, what? Not at all. I think he was either recruited over by a transfer or he was a miss by Fkod...a recurring theme with him. He was just supposed to be the starting RG after Campbell, not that it was given to him. Just recruited there. I really thought he would work our snce Atascocita is really good at OL evals.

How is it an ‘OTF cautionary tale’ when Flood and Co. are the only voices that matter when it comes to signing someone?

So, ...

Who was the Alabama WR coach during that time, you ask ?

And what is he doing now?

(Btw, I was chuckling until I realized we didn't do much better ... our record was salvaged by Worthy (and Mitchell, if you include him). But at east we don't have Coleman and Marion as our OC ... ).

Celebrity gif. Kristen Bell laughs hysterically then covers her mouth as she begins to cry.

It's more of them praising said players and proclaiming they're such great recruits, they're hidden gems, etc. A bunch of three-star guys or mid to low four-stars like Caleb Chester, Nate Kibble, Parker Livingstone, Ricky Stewart, Jaylon Gilbeau, Jaray Bledsoe, Tausili Alana, Payton Kirkland, Derion Gullette, Billy Walton, J'mond Tapp, Sydir Mitchell, Aaron Butler, Santana Wilson, Daniel Cruz (Gerry has a hard-on for this dude), you get the gist etc, and then they end up in the portal.

He's seen Underwood practice all year. He knew they needed the field to be 20 yards wider for them to have a chance at a comeback.

Meh. Accomplishing their run blocking and pass blocking assignments are 100x more important than getting performative retaliatory personal foul penalties.

Two years ago I would have said "I don't get it, but I think Kyle Flood knows a bit more than I do so I'll trust his judgement". Now I'll just say I don't get it. Don't try to fix things that aren't broken.

Also, tackles are harder to come by in the portal than guards.

We have the guy who has shown he doesn’t know how to recruit OL that fit the offense we want to run picking the OL to go after in the portal for our NC run what could go wrong.

It'll be Sark's downfall for being too loyal to Flood, I fear.
