I don't think we got two major portal RBs for Arch's number of carries to stay the same. It's probably a point of emphasis to reduce his exposure to tacklers. Even with all this, we aren't doing much if Arch is on the sidelines.

Correct, we dont want Arch running until must have it moments in the playoffs. If he is running to keep the chains moving against Miss State and Tennessee he is gonna get injured/concussed and fuck our season up.

Obviously expected at this point. Good luck to him, kind of seems like he overplayed his hand.

Overplaying your hand has consequences. Thanks for helping us get Hollywood!

He did overplay his hand, but I'm not sure it mattered. I think Sark was going to go after another big time RB no matter what.

I’ll give him credit for using the Citrus Bowl as a showcase game. Probably splits carries with Cooper in 2027. Seems a bit short sighted.

They probably want Arch's running downs to be like what they were at the Michigan game. Scrambles when the play breaks down with the odd QB run here and there to keep defenses honest.

I know Anwar’s reputation is that he’s a useful idiot (not in dispute here), but I do think the staff’s reluctance to part with Wingo is one part belief in his potential, and one part out of respect for his work ethic, leadership, team fit, i.e. a lot of those soft skills the market is probably unlikely to reward but players notice.

Agree. Although you left out the part we need him.

so the top WR?

and two top 5 RBs?

that works!

Arch, Wingo, Coleman, Mosley, Brown, Townsend, Lockett is a dirty line up.

Both Smoothers and Brown are good receiving backs. Both will hurt you in open space. 20/21 personnel will be fun again next year. I bet Sark goes back to some of his creative plays (misdirection throwbacks, etc.) from 2024.

I also want his runs to be 60 yard TDs.

I’m at the point of saying fuck anyone who doesn’t want to compete for their job. You want to be the starter? Awesome, prove it. If Clark really wants to “bet on himself” then he can show the staff he’s better than Brown and Smothers.

Him bitching out to the portal just proves he needed to be recruited over.

I don't blame Clark. It's clear he's not getting in over those guys and he doesn't want to wait. This is just the way of the world now and we've adjusted.

well then you definitely don't want to see who's in their "hall of very good"

Exactly. He's looking for somewhere he can get on the field next season. If he believes in himself that could turn into a huge payday next year at this time.

Signing Cam Coleman and Hollywood Smothers seems great and all, but has anyone checked to see what Connor Stroh and Trey Owens agents think?

Cooper, Brown, and Smothers can all hit home runs

So much a part of the decisions these guys are making are heavily influenced by “agents” that have motives that don’t necessarily jive with the best interest of their clients.

12 minutes ago, Park Gothic said:

Nah, can’t be that. You’ve personally assured us that Sark is far too big of a pussy to do something like that, even on the rare occasions that he’s sober.

He’s done this multiple times after Harris fucks up

I normally try to stay away, but tomorrow's Finebaum call-in segment is most likely something that will be impossible to ignore.

Yeah, there's just a degree of separating emotion from what's going on and realizing it's just a business now. You'll get lifetime Longhorns for sure but these guys all have the ability to supposedly do what's best for them and that's fine. No one who left is really breaking me up other than just not understanding why they think, at least on defense, that you wouldn't get better coaching under Will Muschamp than a place like Kentucky or Colorado. I think it's more just a not at all smart move and won't be a lot of these departing guy's last stops. I'd love to see an analysis of how many times a portal guy portals more than once.

Just now, The_Great_Hornsby said:

He doesn't have to though. He can go somewhere with a less crowded room and get in there versus waiting another year to get his shot. He had barely any touches as is this season with lesser RBs than the ones we just got in front of him. The writing was on the wall. We were upgrading at the position.

Edited by mdmost

The message delivered was pretty clear. "We're going to bring in a couple of badasses and you can compete with Cooper for the third string spot. Maybe Simon too."

That could go both ways though, going to a smaller school where you'll get more playing time can also be seen as betting on yourself.

I generally don't have any animosity towards players who are leaving unless they shit on the program on their way out. In this cycle so far, that's only been Livingstone and Trey Owens.

Those numbers are going to take a dip in 2026 with Marcel Reed throwing to him and an SEC schedule that isn’t full of bottom feeders.

Yep. Better competition and worse talent on offense from what I can see

Reed may not be starting by November.

And Texas as won’t have to face another “backup QB” who they claim is a better than arch anyways.

As long as they can block for it and arch isn’t lost on it(he seemed less confident when he had to turn his back to the defense and run those trickery plays)

As Harris hasn't flipped off the fans or mocked another players celebration...I dont think its quite comparable.

Ok but the Mizzou kid had it coming. I’m also willing to forgive a lot of Tom Herman’s shithead attitude because where it mattered most in terms of supporting a victim of domestic abuse against a colleague and former friend, he was man enough to step up and do so. Harris just sucks

Those mouth breathing inbreds will shift from chanting "STOOOOOPS!!!" to "STOOOOONE!!!" faster than a meth lab explodes.

CSB: Maybe not? For them, at least.

So my dad was a Captain(one of) of the fire departments all the way until he retired in 2016. They got a call about a house on fire one day. They show up and this house had exploded. Before they run in they see a guy running out, fucking charred. Anyway, my dad said he was dead, his brain just hadn't received the message yet. Then a woman comes out, and same thing. The house was a an obvious meth house explosion, but he said it was top 5 one of the most horrific things he's ever seen in his life, and he had been with the fire dept for over 35 years. He said the man and woman quite literally looked like they had been left in an oven overnight. Their skin just fell off like burnt chicken. He said the smell was worse than you can process. You reminded me of that story.

The most horrific thing he ever saw was an electrical power-line installer and repairer touch one of the lines with his hand by accident and it quite literally liquified him. He said there were no bones left. It was just liquid on the pole. He was only identified because they obviously had to call the electric company to notify them of the accident. I can't even begin to understand how you explain that to his wife and kids. It actually haunted him. One of our generators went out years ago and my dad saw one of the workers and he said it just hit him like PTSD seeing that guy working on the line.

So, the moral of the stories is 1) don't do meth, and don't cook meth, and 2) you never think about it, but you need to give firefighters and electrical line workers huge, huge props for what they do. You can't even imagine how dangerous line working is. Every time I see a guy/woman working on the lines I just silently give them respect. It's fucking nuts, dude. Those are heroes, too. Without them we would be forced to interact with others in person. Imagine the horrors of that. Fun as a kid, not so fun as an adult.

Rest in peace to my dad. He never openly talked about the shit he's witnessed, but I've heard stories from the guys he worked with.

I mean really how many plays were called specifically for Arch. Just a handful?

Most were runs from the pocket after being pressured.

Dude signed his paperwork when he committed and is moving his shit in. Both backs knew this was the plan and actively support it (why wouldn’t they)

Remaining we need 2-3 OL, MLB, Edge, DB +filler vet depth and then see you in August. I know of 2 massive moonshots but they aren’t worth speculating on currently as it would be an active detriment if the names get out, excited to see how some combo of OB, Chip Brown and/or Brandon Harris fucks those up

Yes--on third and long with our slow receivers covered after an offsides call or a dropped pass or our RB getting stood up in the backfield. With the talent upgrade, we should never have a third down again (assuming the optimism about more OL portals comes true).
