Get 'em tomorrow.  The BP got in some work and innings.  We got raked; tomorrow is another day.

It's baseball, getting ass raped was going to happen. Forget about it and shove it up their ass next two games.

Schloss said in the postgame interview that you have to take a gut punch in this conference and come back tomorrow.

Said it was much like the first game of the series against LSU, and you have to respond.

What else can you say, this is the best conference in college baseball, when this roster gets deeper and probably even more talented in the future, maybe you can avoid games like this.

Well...it wasn't like we didn't have several games like this in the Big 12 last year.

Even with the injuries this is a better team than last year, especially the pitching.

It's also better coached.

No shit Sherlock. Was someone actually debating this point? Last years team got skullfucked by BYU and Washington and was a 3 seed in an away regional at our rival's house. Of course we are fucking better than them.

I’m not suggesting moving him because there are very limited options but man Ruger just isn’t the prototypical Friday guy when you look at the lack of swing and miss/overpowering stuff.

We are really going to have to piece this thing together on the mound down the stretch.

Yes. Also in Mississippi and West Virginia.

But we aren't exactly the skinny state either.

Everyone 60 min out of Austin says "hi". Fucking Valley says "orale!"

South Texas: home to entitled fat chicks.

Did you know there is a subreddit for RGV/McAllen fattest city in the states?  Damn, tacos, tamales, and tortillas.

There was no way we were going through a 55 game season without one of these. Happens to every team. Getting it out of the system now.

True but we may be seeing the beginning of life without Spencer.

We had 2 hits. Spencer could have been Superman and we still would have lost 1-0 tonight. Root could have thrown for 4 hours and we wouldn’t have figured it out.

Yep.

Still hate to see people tee off on Ruger like that.

Wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world to skip Ruger’s start next week with another short Thursday turnaround against OU. Leads the team in innings and then you have the added stress of being yanked around and thrown into just about every role this season.

He had a short outing today. So he will get plenty of rest with 8 days off. IF we get some actual run support then maybe he can have a short day next week too.

Dumb post is dumb. Batters hit like 220 against him and he averages like 9 strikeouts per 9. He has plenty of swing and miss stuff. Not every Friday guy is Paul Skenes.

Anyone check centerfield for a camera focused on our catcher?

UT uses pitchcom to call pitches.  Catcher doesnt give signals anymore.

That 6pm start last night was annoying feels intentional to force Texas to cope with the shadow in hindsight

The shadow was there when Arky was at bat too.

Can’t imagine it was the most pleasant experience for our hitters seeing 85 MPH lollipop fastballs from Prairie View for 9 innings to 48 hours later facing Zach Root.

Doesn't explain giving up 9 runs in 6 innings but yeah.

Saw it pointed out elsewhere that this was Ruger's 3rd start in 12 days.

Saturday start home against Auburn -> moved up to Friday against A&M -> bumped up another day to face Arkansas on Thursday.

A much-needed 8-day layoff before his next start.

Well, who didn't put on their wives' underwear last night?  Streak is over.

Best cure for the sting of a loss is a win.  We're outta of cake, so it is time to kick ass.

If somebody’s gotta wear their wives panties to start the streak again I’ll volunteer and take one for the team.

You are always there for us Troph. Willing to make the big sacrifice.

Yeah. Hopefully he comes back and dominates Florida.

I don't remember how it worked out, but last night I thought to myself "that shadow line will probably cross the rubber right about when we finish hitting in the top of the inning".

Can't transitive property baseball, pitchers have days on days and off days - even the best get rocked occasionally.  We just seem to get embarrassed by really good lefties too.

Kade Anderson
Pico Kohn (got us 6 times swinging)
Zach Root

We are 16th out of 16 teams in the SEC in batting average against lefties (.244)

Against righties, we are 5th (.301)

Considering we only start 1 or 2 left-handed bats most nights, it is very strange our splits are that different.

Hopefully Schloss has a quick trigger on pitchers for rest of weekend. Would be a shame if our best pitchers don’t make it into games before they become blowouts.

He will. He has all season. He wants keep winning series and win the SEC in his first year. That's why he did the following:

After Riojas, Texas used two pitchers (Howard and Navarre) who haven't pitched in any conference game of substance this season. Howard's only previous appearance was in the 8-2 loss to LSU.

And, all things considered, Howard did exceedingly well. Went 3.1 with only 1 hit, no runs, 3 SO, 1 BB, and 1 HBP.

Absolutely right about that.  IIRC, Auburn's Saturday guy was a pretty good lefty and we had no trouble with him.
