in his defense, small sample size.
It's a big enough sample size, though. It sums up his career as a whole and embodies this whole franchise the last 3 decades. It's definitely not just him. But paying Parsons top dollars isn't going to help you win. But at this point, doesn't really matter as they have been paying the wrong guys for years now.

They would actually probably be better off taking what his salary would be and bringing in 3 or 4 free agents that would be starters on D.

Who exactly is that going to be?  Cast offs from other teams?  Not to mention you gotta remember who is evaluating the talent even if it wasn't the beginning of August.

Why would you want leave an organization that is going to botch every negotiation and overpay you your entire career.

To actually win a championship?  But, he does have to play his role.....

I might have been paying less attention last year but it felt like he's not been as good as I remember from earlier seasons. I'd be okay with a trade as long as its not a fucking Luka type return.

He was hurt last year but his stats were still as dominating as ever with pressure rate, double team frequency, double team effectiveness, efficiency of pass rush, etc, etc, so..... yea, he's still a top 2, maybe 3 pass rusher in the NFL.

He's the best player on the team.... trading the best player on the team means you need to be in a total rebuild.  We're not doing this.... yet.  Pay the man and stop being the biggest dumbfucks in the NFL.

You might as well tell the sun to not come up tomorrow.  Jerry isn't capable of not being a dumbfuck when it comes to helping the Cowboys win games.

My interest in the team has been waning for years. This might've just stamped it all the way out. No sense in investing any mental energy in following such a garbage outfit. It really is a shame. 90s Cowboys are prominent teen memories for me, but that was a looooooong time ago.

I have zero hope it works but if we can get a good trade return it could work out. But again, jerry and his devil spawn will fuck it up worse, almost guaranteed.

As a Mavs and cowboys fan. (Pic below)

Also he’s not getting traded without a kings ransom. This’ll probably just get a deal done. Or they’ll get 3 first rounders or more for him so some shit.

Either way it makes the Cowboys look even worse and harder to be a fan.

World's biggest soap opera
Just what the Jones family wants. They are going to milk this saga and sign him to an extension right before the season. They did with this Dak last summer, signed him like an hour before the deadline.

This. Fuck Jerry and Stephen.

OTOH, I bet they’ve offered him a massive contract already. Maybe the highest paid non QB on NFL history. Parsons and agent probably want more money than Dak because he’s WAAAAAY better than Dak. (Dak’s position is more important, leading to a more massive contract)

If they get 3 first rounders for him, that would be a huge win for the front office.

But I don't see Dallas trading him. And if they do, brace yourself to get pennies on the dollar

Meh that's overblown.  Sure the Cowboys aren't winning shit, but there are a handful of teams that have their houses in order enough to win a championship right now, and he wouldn't be traded to one of them.  Maybe his 3rd contract he'd be willing to take a trim to go to one of them.  This contract he's getting paid.

My response was more pithy in it's approach, but I would disagree with you.  While there's only about 10 teams who are real contenders this year, I would say that within 5-6 years (extension tenure) there could be at least 20 teams which may have years of being real challengers, not necessarily winners but actually have a realistic shot.  The Cowboys haven't been a real championship contender in 30 years and won't be until Jerry is dead.  But all of that said, he just wants what he's earned within the construct of the NFL and NFLPA's compensation structure.  Pay the man his money and let's get on with things.  That's all he wants.

What did Khalil Mack bring in when he was traded from Chicago to the Raiders? That would need to be the minimum

Per the Googles, as I was curious:

Raiders received:
  • 2019 first-round pick (No. 24 overall, used to draft Josh Jacobs)
  • 2019 sixth-round pick (No. 179 overall, used to draft Isaiah Johnson)
  • 2020 first-round pick (No. 19 overall, used to draft Henry Ruggs)
  • 2020 third-round pick (No. 81 overall, used to draft Lynn Bowden Jr.)
Bears received:
  • Khalil Mack
  • 2020 second-round pick (No. 43 overall, used to draft Cole Kmet)
  • Conditional 2020 fifth-round pick (used to draft Arlington Hambright)

EDIT - Bears signed him to a 6-yr $141mm extension.
Edit 2: 3 years later, Bears traded him to the Chargers for a 2023 second (Jaquan Brisker - S Penn St) and 2023 sixth.  The Bears later traded that 6th for 2 2022 7th round picks: Elijah Hicks (S - Cal) and Trenton Gill (P- Penn State).  Brisker and Hicks remain on the Bears.  Chargers took on the remainder of his contract.

Wouldn't be nearly enough..... Best pick is 24?

Jerry won' trade him until they have no choice.

Parson's has a lot of mood swings and says a lot of shit. The feeling may not last, or maybe it was a bargaining tool to hasten serious negotiations. Either way, Jerry will go into the season levying fines or whatever until it's a lost cause before giving up on this one. Ain't no trade going to compensate for his value, especially if it is on picks they will fuck up.

Can't blame Parsons for the frustration, but this has been the way Jerry go.  Jerry might have screwed the pooch on this one. You don't fuck around with HOF talent in mid career to this extent.  But I have a feeling there will be a deal, hopefully sooner than later.

I just don’t understand the method behind Jerrah’s madness. He always ends up having to pay top of market for his stars. If he was a little more proactive he’d have at least another $25M/yr to spend on roster upgrades.

25 million this year and he wants to play the victim.  Fuck him and fuck his whiny agent.

Constant victim attitude.

Well, that’s a take.

He quits half the plays.  He quits half the season.

If you were that good, we would give you 50 million.  You quit half the time, 25 million is more than enough.
