Get a new point. We are not going to start scheduling like pussies.

Fucking deal with it.

Christ.

Cool then we will miss the playoffs because we refuse to learn our lesson. The L column matters, get over it, schedule an average team you know you can beat instead of playing @ the shoe for little to no gain.

Certainly a bad loss, but how the fuck does Memphis deserve to get in?

Because anti trust laws and it’s literally in the rules that highest ranked g6 conference champ gets in(even if not ranked).

Narrator: this will change and there will be a ranked g6 champion by the end of the season.

Agreed. He didn’t plan it out like, but I’m sure Sark would be thrilled to not play an extra game. Worked for Ohio State last year.

It's only an extra game if you lose.

Game was schedule at least 5 years in advance. Just don’t lose to a dog shit Florida team

Yeah but we need to stop it going forward. We get OSU at home next year and the UM at home and then we need to start scheduling teams like Mich St and Wake. Get a good test in against an average team without fucking up your playoff chances if you happen to lose.

Gonna need one of the Big 12ers to lose

we really need BYU to bitchslap Tech to give them 2 losses and hopefully knock them out otherwise they both end up with 1 loss and they are both in.

Calm yourselves, people.  Every week we see chaos in the top 10.  If you think ACC or B12 teams aren't going to get upset, you're not paying attention.  If they don't, so be it.

ACC is unrepresented in the top 12 so those upsets don’t matter one makes it in and takes a straight up top 12.  You have to be 10 or higher this year, that’s going to be hard and fast fact this year.

ND loss

BYU / Tech loser drops enough - might need two losses?

Oregon drops to USC, who else do they play?

and of course a net gain of at least one after Texas loses one big game and wins another.

if ND wins out and Oregon wins out, it’s gonna be tight. Fingers crossed the big 12 shits the bed down the stretch I guess.

Or scheduling Ohio State without a warmup game. Highly regarded.

Dude teams schedule other big teams every year. Stop making excuses. Losing to Florida is inexcusable and the reason we’re in this situation, Ohio state has fuck all to do with it. The way arch started the year it wouldn’t matter if they were game one or 2 anyway.

Would you rather win SEC or natty? I could give a fuck about a conference championship if we win a natty.

Upsets will happen you can bank on ND, Oregon, tech or byu falling enough what we can’t really gauge is the net effect of Texas going 2-1 there will be a drop then an ascension or vice versa but who knows.

No it isn't.  You're assuming all the teams currently ranked ahead of us won't drop, and you're assuming we won't climb.  Both are stupid positions.

It's still likely that we're looking at 8 spots for the B1G + SEC.  How it get splits up is not clear, but 5 SEC is not ridiculous.  It's probable.

Dude - there is no ACC team in the top 12 straight up. None is leaping over a 2-1 Texas team down the stretch.  They don’t have teams worth a shit to beat except Pitt and Pitt isn’t jumping 10 spots and leaping Texas if Pitt beats ND and Texas beats one of A&M or UGA especially knowing Pitt will likely lose another game too.

Let's play out a scenario, we start the season #1, we schedule Arkansas State, we win. We lose our first game in the swamp on the road, we drop to #9 or so. We then win out every game until this ranking, we are ranked probably #5 at worst right now. Instead we now have no margin for error to close out the year. It's really really dumb from a perspective of trying to make the playoffs because we play a disproportionately hard schedule compared to the field and get no credit for it. It's literally an unnecessary risk. You cant win the title if you arent dancing.

Dude -- I get it.  You're fixated on Top 10 and while that is a floor it's not necessarily hard to attain.

No read the rest of my post. ACC isn’t going to take a spot straight up at least not against a 2-1 Texas down the stretch. They don’t play anyone. They will boot someone out like Texas today. That’s their best case.

Nothing too crazy in those rankings.  I would have liked to see ND behind us, but it doesn't matter based on remaining schedule (we'll jump them if we win out).

I thought the comments from the committee chairman about OSU/Indy/ATM was interesting.  Maybe I'm reading between the lines, but it was good to hear them value defense as a differentiator in the top 3.  Historically, it seems like teams with prolific offense always got the most eye test points.

Obviously, we are in if we win the next 3 games.  If we drop a game, it needs to be a close one to GA to have any shot to get in with 3 losses.  And if that does happen, we want ATM to be undefeated when we beat them.

I think the ATM game is must win even if we beat GA and AR.  Home game and late season game, if we lose I think we are out at 9-3.  Unless aggie craps the bed before our game, they are in regardless of a loss in Austin.  It would be fairytale territory to beat them in Austin and then meet them in the playoffs and then end their season in a semi final game.

I would rather be a pussy that is in the playoffs than a fake tough guy that is watching our rival play in January while we play at the Tough Guy Adidas Outback Bowl against some spare from the ACC.

Maybe if Georgia Tech beats Georgia I’ll give that one but the point is ACC gets a spot no matter what as a top five conference champ. They aren’t getting two so in any event ACC is irrelevant to Texas right now. And Georgia tech and Virginia are the likely ACC champ game. Both aren’t getting in. Gotta climb one spot no matter what.  ACC won’t be the issue. Big 12, big 10 and ND are the focus

It’s healthy for the sport. If you functionally exclude more than half the teams from hoping to get in the CFP you harm its viability long term.

You also aren’t really impacting the final outcome integrity. The 5th SEC or BIG team is very unlikely to win it all, there’s usually a clear gap.

This is entirely predictable and not unique; every year some good MBB teams aren’t in March Madness in favor of some hapless midmajors.

It is basically this simple.

10-2 we are in

at 9-3 if we aren't above ND at 10-2, a 10-2 Big 12 team, or 10-2 OU, there is no reason to play Ohio State.

This. We move up at least 1 spot during the bye if BYU beats Tech.

My point is that others above #10 can drop.  Just because 2 teams ranked below #12 will take top 12 positions doesn't mean our #11 ranking leaves us out.  You can't predict what 2-1 will do for us, because you don't know what's going to happen to the rest of the top 10.

So easy for people to forget...

OU plays Bama still

ND plays Pitt

Oregon plays Iowa, USC, Washington

OSU/Michigan

Tenn/Vandy

More than likely 6 of the top 25 wont be there in 2 weeks and their is a good change 2 or 3 of the teams in front of Texas (not counting GA) will be gone.

Give it a few weeks.
