Penalties and miscues all over the place. Ohio State played a much cleaner game. The good news is, most of those can be fixed.

Not happy with RT play at all, but I could be talked down off that ledge.

MY FAVORITE PLAY WAS CJ BAXTER'S BLOCK. That LB was going to kill Arch, and CJ stoned him. That's... that's why I hope Baxter gets more playing time. Wisner's very good, but the LB goes through him.

If only there was a formation where you could have both on the field especially with a mobile giant QB...

So many marquee matchups over the last 2 years have been winnable. But just can’t seem to pull it off- mostly self-inflicting game changing mistakes. Gotta figure that out. Somehow.

Why are you using such a huge font size?

Game plan looks pretty good if Arch connects on the easy stuff. We couldn't even run bubble screens (we tried a few) because he couldn't connect on those either. What do you expect Sark to call? Usually it is easy crossers, screens, and some stop routes. Arch missed badly on all those. The only game plan that would have helped Arch is abandoning throwing the ball entirely and just going triple option. He was that bad today. I doubt Sark or Arch expected that.

He was plenty effective in hurry up, quick read situations. We sat him in the pocket and hoped he would just learn to be accurate.
Arch is the quarterback, our coach should know what he can and cannot do. But Sark doesn’t adjust his offense to his players. It’s been the problem in every game against equal talent. Every single time.

Sark's ego is getting in the way of making him a very successful head coach.

He needs to hand off play calling duties so someone else.

Don’t think all play calling is the problem. The stubborn desire to win from inside the 5 with a meh interior OL the a major issue

Oline is elite? Did they ever get to the second level and break a run open? Looked like the exact same Oline we always have. Good pass blocking, average as he'll run blocking.

We ran for 166 on 37 carries against one of the best defenses in the country in a game where our QB couldn't hit a receiver. That's elite in my book.

OSU ran for 77 on 34 carries. That's getting shut the fuck down. Our DL is elite.

We only lost this game because Manning was so bad today. If he has a solid day we win by 20. Both our lines won the day.

“Ohio State Dominates Arch and Texas”

Good we deserve it and hopefully it fuels us all season. We’re about to be jerking each other off after we skull fuck shitty schools then it’s at Florida and we will see what we really are then. Until then I hope they get obliterated by the media.

Should have tossed wide?

We need to be able to execute punching it in up the middle from 2 yards out.

When your QB can't hit the side of a barn 5 yards away, what do you want him to call?

I already said it in this thread. I want him to call four fucking run plays in a row when it’s 1st and goal inside the 10.  And your stud RBs need to get at least 3 of those carries. You know, the position whose primary job is to run the damn ball. Not three qb runs

I wasn’t impressive with any of the play calling. There wasn’t 1 drive that I though Sark did a good job of helping Arch get into a good flow. Hell, there wasn't a play that I thought damn, that was nice. Just a bunch of bland shit. Those QB keepers up the middle inside the 10 are lazy as fuck. Looked like Tom Herman and Sam. Sark needs to do a whole lot better.

The 2nd qtr drive which ended at the 2 yard line. Good drive until we got to the 9 yard w

It’s not Quinn vs Arch. It’s sark vs his teams skillsets

We lost to an equally talented team in their house. Oh, and they won it all last year.

We'll be fine.

I keep saying this in my head, but then I still only see 7 points on the board.

I remember reading when Sark first got here that philosophically, he is opposed to mobile quarterbacks. Will he be able to maximally utilize that aspect of Arch’s game?

If Sark would stop going for it on 4th and goal, it would have been 7-6 and who knows how the game would have gone after that. He’s been doing that shit over and over again and it usually doesn’t work. We all know what the definition of insanity is, Sarks 4th and goal today had the same outcome as last years game. Take the fucking points unless you’re in the last 2 min of the 4th quarter

He literally threw a would be pick in that situation. His missed an easy TD in that situation. He wasn't good at that all. He showed some occasional flashes, but nothing we could consistently rely on today. You're letting your thoughts of what Arch should be confuse you. Whatever that is, he wasn't it today. If he doesn't play significantly better, there is no game plan fix.

The people placing most of the blame for this game on just Arch and mistakes/penalties don’t really know what they are talking about. Arch was bad. But every game is going to have mistakes and this one was no different.

What was deeply concerning can be summed up by the constant fourth down and red zone failures by Sark’s offense,  along with play calling and scheming at times that was really really poor. He doesn’t know how to scheme against strong defenses. He just doesn’t. Look at Georgia, OSU, etc. Every time he plays a strong defense we see the same sort of dysfunction. I don’t think I can watch any more failed 4th down runs into a stacked defensive line. It’s ridiculous. CHANGE THINGS UP SOMETIMES. What’s really weird is that he’s usually good for a few gadget plays a game where you are in awe. But what I’m talking about is fundamentally different running game tactics and receiver routes.

Biggest non-QB issue today to me for the O was that we underutilized the RB pass game and screen game.

Maybe Sark was scared Arch would give them a concussion with the ball

Arch underthrew the RBs multiple times today. He did manage to connect to Baxter on a play. When your QB is missing more often than not, it isn't because of the OC. I think it's pretty obvious that Arch was in his own head due to all of the public pressure. I didn't think it would last past the first quarter, but it did.

I’ll settle for handing off to our 230 lb RB when we get near the goal line. How many plays did we run inside the 10 and how many carries did Baxter get down there?

This is as stupid a fucking take as the calls. Not all the plays were from the 2.

RPO, Play action, bootleg are all viable options when you have a very fast, big QB.

If you can't grasp that calling a play, 4 fucking times, that goes at the STRENGTH of your opponent is a bad plan, I can't fucking help you.

Might be time to get Christian Clark in for Wisner and see if he can stretch the field horizontally from the RB position. Wisner was solid today, but just got what was blocked to get. Didn't break anything, didn't juke a LB or DB to gain an extra 10+ yds. The running backs were just decent today and yet we still ran for 166 at 4.5 per. The best thing about them was they didn't fumble.

The line blocked well.

I mean he literally ran the Arch offense with Ewers (deep throws, quick reads) and the Ewers offense with Arch (intermediate/short throws from the pocket). It’s wild anyone is blaming either of the QBs for the problems. They both sucked because our coach seems too stubborn to adjust

There is no schematic cure for not being able to throw to a wide open crossing route or constantly throwing short passes behind or at the feet of receivers. There were plays to be made based upon what was called. Arch didn't come close to making them.

kinda like how we kept trying to throw deep with Ewers who couldn’t do it

Arch was looking downfield the whole game and I seem to remember a deep ball down the sideline getting picked. Arch has one game now against a defense with a pulse, anyone acting like they know what Arch's strengths are is laughable, he showed nothing today. Yeah he's a good athlete, maybe we should run the option

Don't be too sure about that. Also, no one has to pay to be pissed on in Ohio. It comes free with the travel, don't be silly.

This is also a good option and poor coaching. You're on the road against a defending national championship team. Sometimes you take the fucking points.

Or, run some misdirection, or anything that isn't the best option for the other team given their strengths.

Ohio State wasn't ready either, BUT they focused on playing mistake-free football, and it paid off.

One team playing strong D and puny O today had to win it. Whoever lost would be left to legitimately play "what if." If we'd won, they'd have lamented their dropped INT and late holding call. Instead, the hard look in the mirror belongs to us. I'm just glad we actually made a game of it late.

The “would be pick” was on a play that he had to reverse drop, get his feet switched and try to squeeze a throw in with perfect timing. That play call is the definition of the sark problem.

Run some RPO (with qb run options), attack the seams and the deep sidelines. Utilize the backs and tight ends in the screen game. Play to the strengths of the players on the field.

It is fucking wild that you're comparing Ewers and Arch at this point. Ewers had problems, but they weren't in the same universe of bad as we saw from Arch today. This was absolutely rancid QB play. Ewers was usually serviceable and sometimes really good. He was never within a country mile of being this bad. Again, I expect Arch will be much better. But pretending there is anything an offensive coordinator could have done to get better results out of Arch today is fucking asinine.
