We won two playoff games last year.

I'm amazed that some of you are able to wash your ass without slipping and killing yourself in the shower.

I said Bowl Games, not post season games.  There was far less opportunity to play more than 1 post season game a season when Herman was coach.  Also, BTW, we also lost 2 post season games last year.  We never lost a post season game under Herman.  My statement stands up 100%.

This team flashes highs and lows pretty much every where. Wingo and Moore are concerning as the top receivers. Defense doesn’t seem elite, but it’s got a lot of playmakers and is the strength of the team. Coaches have a lot of work to do to navigate this group to a playoff appearance. This team has lower floor and ceiling than I would have predicted. 10-2 would shock me at this point, and 8-4 wouldn’t.

Arch is incredibly inconsistent with his accuracy and footwork. The OL is carrying on last year's tradition of killing drives with penalties.  The WRs seem to be our slowest since the Herman years.

The defense is good enough to keep us in every game, but this feels like 9-3 unless some people grow up incredibly quickly.

We don't play "bowl games" anymore, dipshit. I think Herman is still coaching at some backwater school in Florida if they haven't fired him yet. Maybe you can go follow and bitch about that team.

yeesh.  that was meh to ugly.  QB is still work in progress, running game extremely average.  receivers some good(white guys help the black guys..) some not so good. Kicker definitely feels like a upgrade.  Punter was OK but not great today.  DL was surprisingly a bit soft but still very good, DB's on the other hand...

Most concerned about the running game because Manning is gonna have Sark training wheels all year.  We need to be able to run the ball because the short pass running game does not look like Manning's strong suit.

hopefully the D can get us to 9 wins but it seems more like 8. The TO's helped this to not be a 24-10 old fashioned Mack Brown nail biter.

10 wins is a pipe dream. 6-2 in SEC with our schedule feels like top end.

Edit: and the penalties - holy shit this team is dumb which will cost us at least one SEC game.

Except we played 2 last year you stupid goon.  The Peach Bowl and the Cotton Bowl.  We went 1-1.  You continue to be one of those posters that talks more than they think.  Sark's bowl record at Texas is 1-3.  And he barely won the one.  I don't want Herman back.  I didn't even like him.  He had no business being Head Coach at Texas. My point is that Sark is only a marginally better coach than he was.

I’m honestly surprised at how poorly coached we’ve looked. From penalties to play calling to rotations to execution, it hasn’t been great, which gives the impression of a dumpster fire when it’s all of those things. I don’t think it’s as bad as it seems, but the coaches are going to have to earn their money for this team to make the playoffs. Not what I expected from this staff to be frank.

Arch's pocket presence is a big improvement.  He doesn't self sack and is good at moving around to buy time.  He'll get there, but it's going to take some time.

Arch is absolutely going to have to run more to move our offense.  Sark will probably go crazy about it but Manning needs to say fuck it a lot more and bail out Sarks playcalls and stupid penalties.

I have no idea what the fuck you're even talking about at this point. Sark won 2 postseason games last year. Call them whatever you want. I'm glad you still care about the 2022 Alamo Bowl featuring a Texas team that wasn't going to do shit that season. And care about the meaningless bowl games that Herman won.

Sark is better than Herman in literally every way imaginable. Saying "Herman was way better in bowl games" is one of the most pointless, dumbest things I've ever read. That's like saying Herman was better at losing to Maryland.

Always glad to meet a fan. Not melting down, though, just talking shit because our fans drive me crazy. I have concerns and I'm not sure what the ceiling for this team is but I like where Texas is at and believe we have an absolute stud at QB for the first time in over 15 years.

You're really missing out.

I have some complaints but not just a ton. Defense was great. Arch did better but has room to improve. Running game was good but also can improve. Wingo needs to figure shit out. Livingston is going to be one of the great ones. Simmons had a bad game. Can't argue with 4 turnovers. Offense was much improved but still has room for improvement. Yes, Virginia, Sark can kick a FG.

Really? I see an elite defense that is designed to give up the short passing game in favor of stopping big plays. That's the defense we've had the entire time Sarkisian has been here.

I see an offense that is predicated on quarterback play, with a quarterback who is big time risk/reward, much more so than Ewers ever was. I feel like we knew that going into the season. At least I did, and I thought it was blatantly obvious and everyone knew the score.

What I will admit is while intellectually I knew the offense was going to be more risk/reward, I did not have my expectations in alignment for what that would actually mean in practical terms. It is hard on my heart to watch Manning not look so good one moment and then spectacular the next. He's not great in the short passing game right now. He misses wildly on some of his throws in ways I did not expect to happen with such frequency. He does not take off running as much as I thought he would - or should, frankly.

I feel like Baxter is a huge missing piece for what was available on the roster last year. I feel like the offensive line is a work in progress, but I feel good about where they are right now.

I like where we are. I do not agree with the folks taking a dim view of this team. We'll see how it all plays out, but I feel good about the rest of the season.

I guess I'd just say for anyone who thought Ewers was a poor quarterback, that's an asinine take. He was terrific in the short and intermediate passing game. He was highly accurate. He consistently hit players in stride so they could maximize yards after the catch.

He was piss poor on deep balls. He often did not have a good feel for when the pocket was breaking down. It felt like he was often scared of taking a hit. But he often played through injury, and he had 3 classic performances against Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Michigan in Ann Arbor, and Arizona State in the Peach Bowl, including his signature play on 4th and 13. No one should put Ewers in the same breath as all time greats, but he firmly belongs in the category right below that. I'm glad he was a Longhorn, that's for sure.

You called this team "Tom Herman football 2.0" and then talked up Tom Herman's bowl record. I apologize profusely for dumbing the board down. I'll leave more space for geniuses such as yourself to continue to make such great insights.

QB, OL, and WR are all very inexperienced right now. Not too surprising that they're all up and down. I was surprised WR and even OL depth weren't addressed more in the portal this offseason.

The upside of that is that they should improve more rapidly than normal.

Not concerned about Townsend. he showed way more blocking ability than expected

I would be very concerned about the depth chart if I was Jordan Washington or Spencer Shannon. I know those guys are ideal as inline TEs, but both Townsend and Watson look really good as true freshmen.

agreed.  I now understand why he was scared to take a hit.

Yes, Manning isn't processing at game speed well enough yet, but he doesn't look completely lost like a QB who can't improve. Most of the issue looks like hesitation and believing what he sees versus not seeing it quickly.

And today we were hamstrung by him taking too long to pull it down on the several play action medium-to-deep shot calls. That was the one thing I saw that almost looked intentionally coached, like Sarkisian told him to stay in the pocket as long as possible to work on reading defenses this week. SJSU's second level was bailing hard when they identified play action. Seemed like he had several easy 8+ yard runs he passed up. Either that was coached for this week or it's something else that he can improve quickly. If it wasn't coached then he needs to get through his 3 reads then go.

I expected  Townsend to be that uber-athletic TE that is more WR, than TE (especially early in his career). He got after it blocking, which surprised me and will get him on the field quicker

But that doesn't matter, because quarterbacks are finished products by game 4, obviously.

It a much more vertical offense this year. that adds volatility. Add in that Arch and Livingstone (crazy) are the playmakers on this team. Arch is really up and down, so that just adds more. OL just isn’t consistent
