I was hoping Baxter would be "questionable" rather than "doubtful".

Doesn't bode well for his availability for Red River

I'm just going assume from here on that Baxter is unavailable.   Dude's good but made of glass.

Maybe Sark wins the toss and chooses defense so gata starts each half with the ball.

Mosley was supposedly practicing last week and looked great (9.95).

And more supposedly, Wisner could have played in any of the last three games if we actually needed him to, but he's questionable for this one?

I take the Wisner news as he’s available if needed, but the rest/healing is more important for his longterm wellbeing.

Running back CJ Baxter is the only player listed as “doubtful” in this week’s initial injury availability report submitted to conference officials yesterday.

Baxter has missed multiple practices in the past week while dealing with a lower leg injury sustained on the very first play of the UTEP game.

His absence will limit the Horns’ offensive versatility somewhat.

Baxter, when healthy, could pair with Tre Wisner in a two-back set that the Horns have yet to showcase this season. Sark has utilized the alignment with success in previous seasons.

Baxter is also the team’s best short-yardage runner, most powerful running back, and best pass protector at the position. In other words, Baxter’s potential absence affects multiple aspects of the Longhorn offense, everything from potential play-calling options to on-field performance.

**

While we expect Wisner, who has missed the last three games with a strained groin, to play Saturday, he is listed as “questionable”. As Cj Vogel reported, Wisner has been practicing this week.

But if neither Wisner nor Baxter can go, it’ll be running back by committee like we saw against UTEP and San Jose State.

That’s not ideal going against a Florida defense that has been stingy this season.

Also listed as questionable are receiver Emmett Mosley V, who has returned to full practice, and cornerback Kobe Black.

**

There’s lots of talk this week about the game being a Arch Manning vs DJ Lagway showdown.

I usually shy from that sort of hyperbole.

But there’s some truth to the matter.

Texas and Florida appear evenly matched athletically. Both teams are flush with future NFL talent across the board.

Therefore, it’s not unreasonable to think this game will be decided by which QB performs the best.

Of course, I also agree with something both Rod Babers and Gerry Hamilton have said repeatedly this week.

The team who plays the cleanest game likely gives their QB the best chance to win.

Third-and-one in the red zone can’t become third-and-six because of a false start. Holding and blocks in the back on punt returns can’t make you start drives inside your own 10-yard line.

And by all means, ball protection is a priority, especially in what is expected to be wet weather.

So yes, it is a QB battle. But it’s also a battle of which team executes better overall.

Remove Stroh from the OL, slap in NETO and let’s fucking run it down their throats.

I hate to break it too you, but unless Texas can find some more eligibility for Jonathan Blalock, Casey Studdard and Kelvin Banks Texas isn't running the ball down any throat left on the schedule.

I don't know if you watched the same games I did, but Texas couldn't even push the DL's of fucking SJSU and UTEP.

Florida LBs are not always sound. The DL is bit banged up, but I agree I doubt the OL mauls them. Wisner's vision could be big in this game. I dont think Texas will consistently run on Florida, but if you catch the LBs out of position you can get an explosive. Hit couple and the offense will open up. I think the other key will be Texas WRs ability to win on the outside vs Florida Cbs. Arch throws that well (that may depend on the weather).

This.  I get that Stroh sucks but Neto has had every chance.   I mean even if he is 'better' clearly not significantly better or he would be starting.  it's beyond obvious our interior OL is just sub par.

This is a game we win running away with Ewers, but with Arch's inconsistent footwork and accuracy it could go either way.

Add in stupid personnel decisions on the OL, this game will be decided late in the 4th quarter. An untimely late pick by Arch could give the game to Florida.

Nah Arc would have to be much worse than Lagways been IMO.

I've had that same thought about this game all week long.

Same.  Something like 24-13 with this weather.

at this point I am assuming Neto is dead. It seems pretty clear by Flood's actions, he is not going in that direction.

Yes and they also ran without much trouble against Ohio State, aside from an idiotically ill prepared tush push.

The line has some issues, but I'm not sure it's as bad as people are making it out to be. It may be more a result of sark not calling plays to their strengths against cupcake opponents. We will see.

Even he is slightly better and it is his potential for personal fouls or if he misses more assignments or whatever other reason that is keeping him on  the bench, it's not like he's been a huge difference maker when he has played (Dunlap has their aggregate snaps graded at Neto 78 and Stroh 76.3 and I expect those go lower as competition gets better).   I think the obvious conclusion is we just don't have the personnel (at least that is ready).

have to remember that Dunlap's scale is only about 10-12 wide, so that is a real difference.
