The answer to a system that has an opaque playoff selection model and meaningless bowl games for the excluded is to ….. wait  a second….. is to turn conference championships to meaningless exhibition bowl games for the already included and to expand the still flawed playoff selection model further to try to get more excluded teams into the playoffs

What? He is a fat fucking retard. Great thread title.

I know. That’s why it’s the greatest and every other thread title is tied for worst. Ricky Bobby if you ain’t first you’re last.

So if ND were called UCONN (the other independent) but with exact same results against exact same teams. they are ranked behind Vandy by the committee, right?  Not an argument to get us in. An argument against ND.

Eh, I dont think many people will bellyache and be taken seriously when you expand to 16. Nobody actually think Vandy or Utah can win it all. There are problem some people who think Miami can but it is mainly designed to catch a team like Texas that is peaking late in the year that maybe had some early struggles. We are a legitimate top 4 team and we are being left out.

If Bama wins and jumps up in the CFP and Aggy falls to the #8 seed, they could play #9 seed OU in Collie.

That would be interesting or at least ironic. I know the meteor rooting interest will be mentioned.

Barring that do you just watch and not care who wins?

It's the same now as it always has been: You watch and hope that ou, aggy, and ND get boat-raced. I mean, they get their shit pushed in in supremely embarrassing fashion on national TV. I don't ever want to see any one of those cocksuckers ever win another game. Ever

Adding wild card games.

It’s effectively a modified 16 team (plus or minus) play off with the CCGs incorporated into the first round schedule and a reseed after first round based on wins and conference champions.  It’s pretty cool. And frankly looking at the teams included it solves every problem including  the conference championship game problem. Though I bet rematches ain’t what most would want. Texas OU in Minnesota? No thanks. Texas Miami or Texas ND etc etc makes more sense to me.

Without schedule parity that’s pretty hard. Bids based on conference standings makes a ton of sense until you look at schedule parity.

SEC won’t agree to 2 auto bids for ACC and Big 12 and those shit conferences won’t agree to 4+ autos for SEC.

the real problem is you probably have to go 16 deep before the Big 12 has a legit argument for 2 and in that case the SEC is at 6.

schedule parity is how the NFL gets to auto bids across the board. Humans schedule the season and the results schedule the post season.

CFB is so far away from schedule parity it’s impossible to have a legit post season selection.

Lol wut? The SEC and Big XII are in agreement against those auto bids and are for 5+11. Everyone knows the SEC doesn’t need 4 autobids, they’ll always get more than 3 additional at large spots. Only the Big 10 wants those autobids because they are never very deep.

Can you imagine the apocalyptic bitching on years where the B1G sneaks an 8-4 4th seed into the playoffs over a 10-2 team from the B12 or ACC under that model? That would be a nuclear shit sandwich for the networks to have to carry as a playoff game.

I seriously doubt adding 4 more teams is going to make the conference championship games exhibition bowl games...

.... but if they do? So what! you have a 16-team playoff now!

I'd be more than happy to drag my nuts on aggy the day after turkey and sit back at 12-0 until the first round of the playoffs begins. I don't need to go play Georgia or whoever. I don't need to see Cactus Aggy and BYU play again. Crown a regular season champ and let's get on with the playoffs.

The extra CFP games should more than offset CCG's going away financially. Just award the conference trophy based on regular season records and tiebreakers. This year would be Bama, tOSU, Tech, and UVA. It's not like the CCG makes it any more "undisputed" because unequal conference scheduling and tiebreakers make even the participants in those games questionable. Ole Miss and aggy are tied at the top of the SEC and are sitting home because of the conference SOS tiebreaker, something they have no control over. (Edit: Also just realized that the second spot in the ACC title game is a five way tie which Duke won also because of conference SOS which again, the others have no control over.)

The first weekend in December could be the two highest ranked G5 champs for the last spot. This year it would be UNT v. JMU. Maybe move Army Navy to this weekend too (I think it used to be this weekend until CCG's became a thing). I think the NCAA and the networks should also push for more interest and attention to the FCS playoffs which start this weekend as well. JMO.

We should’ve tried scoring again against aggy instead of taking a knee. We were already at 3 losses so the fucking style points is all we had. Beating an undefeated team by 17 points instead of 10 may not have changed a thing but why not do it anyways? Fuck aggy and fuck the committee. All gas but brakes once we’re up by 2 scores. Keep your foot on the gas if this is the final gasp in the regular season Sark. I’d prefer if the slogan be changed to NO MERCY

The referees gave aggy a TD with numerous fake penalties and non-calls.  They weren't going to let them lose by 17.
