I feel like we lost some toughness with Bo Davis and Gideon/other guy leaving.  The team needs another Bo Davis yelling at them.

We need 3 Bo Davises on offense

OL, QB, WR all need ass chewins

If Flood departs (and that's a big 'if') I hope we offer the co-OC/OL coach position to Sam Pittman. Legendary OL coach.

This would be by pick as well

Firing assistants is usually the sign of the death of a head coaches job. It rarely results in long term success.

This is true, but failing to address obvious systemic flaws has an even worse track record.

Can't fire more than one coach and expect to get any bad ass coaches to come in.
Mass firings indicate dumpster fire. Good luck with the incoming hires.

Bullshit, I have it on good authority we could money whip Napier or Beamer.

Bring in Gideon as HC & get the best OC out there.  Problem solved, you could even salvage your elite defensive recruiting class. National Title Cups for Everyone. The drops issue may linger though.

Speaking of drops, you talking about ol' hit-you-between-the-two-and-the-one Gideon that night in Lubbock? That butterfingered choad? Bullshit. (Never forget, never forgive.)

Well what is the consensus here? Should we take a poll? I am parking myself in this thread bc it will become the place not too long from now. Not an opinion.

I guess I am on the Freshwater band wagon? Seems to be the best choice?

I want to remind everyone that Lane Kiffin has been a head coach for 14 years and has:

0 playoff appearances

2 conf championships (USA)

2 NY6 appearances

1 NY6 bowl win

But 10 win seasons!!

I'd still like to give him a chance. It would either work or it would end spectacularly.

Even if Sark left, Kiffin prob wouldn't happen because a) he'll already be at LSU/UF and b) he is too similar to Sark (and in fact is a close friend).

That said, I think he'd be good. His offense kicks ass wherever he goes regardless of OC, QB, etc. He's proven that in the same conference so less risk there. And he hasn't had Texas level talent at Ole Miss which would help quite a bit.

Not sure if realistic but Freeman and Deboer would be my other top choices. Beyond that it's a wasteland which is yet another reason making a move wouldn't be great.

Freeman, Kiffin , Day , Lanning, Smart, Cignetti, Deboer, Shannahan - All would be takes, but completely unrealistic

Bob Stoops would be hilarious and I'd be down for the ride

Wouldn't want Franklin too conservative, i doubt he'll ever win the big one at this point

Urban - fuck it spin the wheel lets see what happens, probably another disaster but he could win quick and gtfo

Fuck them retreads - Gundy, Patterson, Kingsbury, Mack Brown

Honestly would probably go for someone still hungry like Golesh at USF , Traylor at UTSA , and find the best fucking GM we can get to support them

Half or more of the fanbase would hate either of these hires immediately.

We should look into those hungry G5 coaches like Charlie Strong and Tom Herman!

It'd be kinda cool to see an up and comer like Jesse Minter or Joe Brady hired at like $5mm plus huge incentives that can get them up to $15mm for a NC. Plus a huge assistant coach pool.

Idk if Deboer is unrealistic as we'd normally think. There are some rumors about him and Penn St flirting. His Bama tenure has been kinda fish out of water. Both sides might be ok with a fresh start

Freeman and Kiffin would be the Top 2 on my wish list bc I believe both would kill it at UT.

Hot take, I know. Otherwise, Morris is appealing based on what he's done at UNT. Guy seems like he's all about football 247.

You're the only one to mention Stoops, but I'd be down for that, too, to watch Sooners' heads explode.

Hey, I'm just relieved Franklin is off the board, so CDC can't make that mistake.

I wouldn't have been down right after Mack but it's been a long time since he was the face at OU . He's a winner .

May even help keep Mack far away from the program ;)

Sark to Kiffin feels like a lateral move. You don’t get rid of Sark for the purpose of hiring Kiffin, but if circumstances require Sark to leave or he somehow bolts for an NFL job, you could (and we have) do a lot worse than Kiffin.

With the rumors floating around Sark , you don't pull the trigger on Kiffin who's got similar stories floating around.

Rumors of Kiffin banging sorority girls , boosters wives , you name it. I personally don't care but his discernment is probably a concern for a replacement like going from a fire to a frying pan
