It always bugged me that Sonny Crockett was an All-American football player at Florida, and then became an undercover vice cop in Miami. Like if Colt McCoy had left school and became an undercover cop

Ok uhhh first off holy shit hot take. Secondly that statement has nothing to do with our efforts on offense both in retention and the portal. Goosby took effort. Brown took effort. Going after the #1 portal prospect in Coleman is taking effort. Bringing in 5 OL visitors (so far) and shooting our shot took effort. Some more OL success is certainly needed though.

Lets highlight what the definition of "effort" is in this situation. Effort is opening your checkbook. Seems we need to prioritize our effort level in the area of most need. Coleman doesn't help you if Arch spends the whole game staring at contrails. Brown doesn't help you if the opposing defensive line is there to closely monitor the handoff goes well.

lol you think the guys we’ve landed were free? Keeping Goosby away from the draft took pennies? The Michigan OL apparently took less to stay home and we’re on to plan B who will get paid. Next talking point. Success is down, effort is certainly up.

We just beat bama in basketball, a sign for Coleman.😃

Lol. Why do you 9.95 guys think people aren't informed? We don't post over there because its a shitshow, not because we aren't informed. We are where we are because of Sark's ideology and nothing more. Sark and Flood are too busy measuring arms and scale watching to be bothered with watching some tape. Michigan isn't the only team with O-linemen.

Poona Ford and Lamarr Houston couldn't play for Sark and Flood if they were linemen. Portal is open 6 more days.

Because you say shit to make it pretty apparent, or you’re being intentionally obtuse. Also none of that info is from 9.95. ALSO Byron Murphy played on the line here pretty recently.

On the Peach Bowl broadcast, they said that Cignetti cares about production over potential. So basically college stats instead of high school star rankings. Thought it was interesting and a good philosophy.

I thought that was what made star rankings...

Someone who has never played a down has a lot of potential. My son who played one year of defense and led his team in tackles as a 5'7" 150 lb OLB has a lot of potential.

Production matters more than potential and measurable. It shouldn't even have been a topic for discussion. But alas, we are here.

That’s known as crimson and meth. New color tech. It’s woven into the fabric. Just a little Extra boost every play.

We all type fast with two thumbs and without complete copywriting efforts from time to time- pretty sure he’s not saying there’s no room for improvement on the skill side - he’s railed on the WR output at times - but get this - if Sark isn’t a stubborn mule on his offensive sets and play calling, if we had an OL pipeline like Sark says is needed in the SECx3, if he opened the WR rotation to freshmen 5* (one of a few positions freshman can really contribute) , if he had some god damned discipline on the OL (penalties) then Texas is a deep run play off team this year. No one is saying sark isn’t trying right now, but his flaws are fatal absent some heroic football by some of the guys on and coming to the roster. Frankly, it wasn’t much different the last two years either there were just better players so Texas got closer.

Should've played him on the D-line. Pretty solid blitzer. He brings hard it from the right.

We are ready everywhere except OL. Need to add 3 starter quality OL or else it’s gonna be a major weakness. Our defense is going to be badass.

How is OT a C-? We have 2 returning starters one is a projected first round pick

Probably too harsh. But if either one of those starters gets hurt we are totally fucked. No depth quality.

He needs to be on defense anyhow. Literally invented the "blitz"

Agreed. Although he started very rocky, Baker came along nicely by the end of the season. But as another poster pointed out, we have absolutely no depth.

posting blindly without having read 99% of this thread or the transfer thread in 995, and posting here instead of there due to ad hominem tone.....

we did not contest aggy vilification of UT ownership of UiL when we had a decade to do so before we moved over

during this wild west moment in college football, i think we have another similar opportunity, and if it has been discussed delete user ban thread......

at some point if we haven't already we should consider other UT system schools as part of our span of control

i don't have any suggestions as to how this would work

scattershooting:

utsa situation https://www.on3.com/college/utsa-roadrunners/transfer-portal/wire/football/

players have transferred out to aggy, coughigh, 0u, tosu, smu, tceh, uva

in the portal iOL: 0

utep situation https://www.on3.com/college/utep-miners/transfer-portal/wire/football/

very low attrition: 2 players transferred out to cal, 2 to usf

in the portal iOL: 2

https://www.on3.com/rivals/dennis-lafferty-iii-249665/

https://www.on3.com/rivals/jake-riggs-53782/

i'm not suggesting we take these guys, but we need bodies

asswater was a result of an iOL disaster

everyone knows it

PK paid the price for it despite herculean marathon distance endurance records when the iOL couldn't stay on the field through inability incompetence or lack of discipline

we need bodies

please cigars

please reason with sark

flood is not going to be held accountable

we don't see john jones or michael rodriguez mentioned or quoted and they need to feel heat on this topic if cdc is not going to hold sark accountable for flood's rolling iOL catastrophe

somehow we got it together in november

the idea of having to go through this again is nauseating

Random fact: The root of Nazi pageantry is partly due to American college football!

Ernst "Putzi" Hanfstaengl was a crucial early helper, confidant, and propagandist for Adolf Hitler during his rise to power in Munich in the early 1920s. A Harvard graduate (1909) with a Bavarian father and American mother, he was a wealthy, piano-playing figure in Munich society. Putzi introduced Hitler to many wealthy patrons. Putzi would play various college fight songs for Hitler on the piano, and Hitler loved the way they stirred emotion. He copied the style and pageantry for his rallies. Putzi fled Nazi Germany in 1937 and worked w/ the American government during the war to help us understand Hitler's mindset.

Gerry Hamilton just said Hollywood Smothers "just flipped to Texas".

If we can keep Clark in the fold and the freshman, RB just went to a strength with a Lil' Hollywood in the house.

Just now, Patrick Bateman said:

Clark seems as good as gone with the addition of 2 RBs, unless his market is just completely dead. We aren't going to pay him anywhere close to top dollar now with two legit portal RBs.

@Hank_Hill knows what's up, he is just an optimist when it comes to recruiting. I am not.

We've been shit at evaluating inside offensive linemen all of Sark's tenure here. Now the same people who missed on evals the first time are in charge of making a second evaluation. We portaled in Keilan Robinson, AD Mitchell, and Golden. We've not portaled in a single O-lineman that can help us. Again, skill players don't help if you can't block enough to get the ball. WE HAVE TO GET SOME LINEMEN.
