@immamac It looks like threads do that new comments autoload thing that you tried out 3-4 years ago. I guess it’s okay, but for really fast-moving threads, it could be problematic.

I personally don't care for the bar at the bottom of the page. I just dont use that shit that often and dont want to look at it all the time. I prefer it to be at the top of the page

i also agree it seems less compact and more cartoonish?  Maybe its the rounded edges of things,

It seems so much less compact that embedded Insta/Bluesky posts had only half shown in the thread (as in, not part of a quoted post). Me no rikey.

I like the bottom bar, but refresh more useful than messages imo

Not from Derka, not today at least

Go to content settings in your profile.

I went to content preferences in settings and all I see is when opening content options. Am I in the wrong place? Maybe/ likely I’m just dumb.

the dark looks good

For the most part, yes, but one minor, low-priority quibble is the giant white "Latest News" column to the right in dark mode. Kinda distracting.

Was going to say the same, then I changed it to fluid.

Then I just got out of dark mode altogether

I just can't do white screens anymore. Kills my eyes.

Anyone using the safari app mode, how do you refresh an active post without scrolling to the top? Non-app mode at least has it in the url control

Same here. I feel lost with the changes.

I'm a dark mode guy, but I just realized that it looks like those black practice uniforms I hate because we're orange and white, not orange and black. Oh well, not getting out of dark mode.

Also, great job. Looks great. Modern squircle interface.

A couple more comments:

  1. I'm not seeing that posts are numbered anymore. Is that just a fluid dark mode thing?

  2. Also, I like how comments by ignored users are much more inconspicuous.

Overall, it looks great.

Pages aren't numbered on topics for me. And shit is still to way spread out. So much empty space and useless scrolling.

I'm working on the numbered posts.

Also, I demand the Tree Fiddy label. Rep is the first way I determine that I'm better than others, but Tree Fiddy is a close second!

Whatever is happening, make it stop! I kid I kid, sure we will get use to it. Are we losing the forum list, clickable collection at the top?

The white news field is still there in fluid mode. It's just further down screen if you scroll far enough. Less prominent though. Nixing the white backfield is the better way to fix it.

I’ll get used to it probably but right now it feels a little more difficult to make out the read vs unread threads. Just not enough visual difference on dark mode.

All of the empty space is driving me crazy

Fluid mode takes care of that. It’s the better way to browse the site anyway IMHO

How do topic tags work? When I start a topic I no longer see the option to add a tag

Same, fellow old fart

I tried to sign in and I was unable to recover my password. Looks like I'm locked out now. It routes me back to this page after I click the 'forgot password ' option.

@immamac what format settings do I use to make the view look most like what I had always used before? Is there a way to view what I used before?

If you go to this link https://www.surlyhorns.com/board/settings/links/ and turn on Change Layout Views, you can play around with the look. I've always used Fluid, but yours may be different.

Were you intentionally on test earlier?

Weird thing just happened when I was checking the new layout on my phone.

I was navigating around through different topics and when I went to a new one, it looked like it logged me in as someone else with a black & white avatar. It may have been HR Schenker. None of the links worked and I couldn't navigate. It was like a static image. Closed the tab and opened a mew browser and was back into my account.

Weird. No harm, no foul. But thought you should know, @immamac

Yes... but it sent me there to log in so I thought we were live. Guess not.

I'll do better next time...

Another old asking for a fix on the bright white Latest News in dark mode.

Also, will someone please remind me where I turn off avatars?

Thanks.

We are. He may have that redirect misconfigured

Doesn't look like no avatars is an option yet.

Appears mobile is ahead of desktop, there are many functions that are just dead clicks on laptop currently.

Plus one to dead clicks on the desktop, windows 11 on chrome loads threads but I can't open the reply window on a thread. Posting from Samsung browser is fine

That option was under themes but it not there anymore.
